UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has demanded an apology from Donald Trump after remarks he says demeaned British troops who served in Afghanistan. Starmer said the comments dishonoured the sacrifice of UK forces who fought alongside allies, reigniting anger among veterans, families, and serving personnel across Britain.

Paying tribute to the 457 service members killed, Starmer praised their courage and bravery, and honoured those left with life changing injuries. He called the remarks insulting and appalling, saying they caused deep hurt to bereaved families, injured veterans, and the wider armed forces community, and demanded respect for those who served the nation.
