01:15we can show how rights can be protected and equal freedoms endure.
01:20And in a time of rising walls and thickening borders,
01:24we can demonstrate how a country can be both open and secure,
01:28welcoming and strong, principled and powerful.
01:32There are literally billions of people who aspire to what we have built.
01:37A pluralistic society that works.
01:40A public square that's loud, diverse and free.
01:43An economy that delivers broadly shared prosperity.
01:47A democracy that chooses to protect the most vulnerable against the powerful.
01:53Now, Canada can't solve all the world's problems.
01:56But we can show that another way is possible.
02:00That the arc of history isn't destined to be warped towards authoritarianism and exclusion.
02:06It can still bend towards progress and justice.
02:10What makes Canada a great country?
02:22It's a great country for everyone.
02:25It's the greatest country in the world to be a regular person.
02:29You don't have to be born rich or to a landed family here.
02:34You don't have to be a certain color or worship a certain God.
02:40Canadians believe in the value of every other Canadian.
02:44Their boundless potential to make this great country even better.
02:47Our ancestors, despite their differences, believed in each other and in us.
02:55Now, there are long periods of history where these values can prosper unchallenged.
03:02Ours is not one of them.
03:04Our values must be fought for.
03:07Canada is an ambitious nation of builders and explorers.
03:11We mapped this continent before the Americans had even left St. Louis.
03:14We built a transcontinental railway in five years.
03:18The St. Lawrence Seaway in four.
03:19We created a healthcare system that became a model for the world.
03:24This government, Canada's new government, shares that ambition.
03:29We've already removed all federal barriers to interprovincial trade.
03:33And we're catalyzing hundreds of billions of dollars in investments in nation-building projects.
03:38We're doubling our defense spending by the end of this decade.
03:41And we're working to ensure that core Canadian capabilities, including in AI, in quantum, in cyber, in critical minerals,
03:49will maximize the economic benefit for Canadians of these new security imperatives.
03:57Now we need to execute fairly and fast.
