00:00as the world economic forum draws to a close in davos switzerland our business lead editor
00:12najib arouf joins us to sum up the key agendas and conversations driving global economic thinking
00:19thank you studio the conversation here at workman forum 2026 right here in davos switzerland
00:29between the global leaders and industry leaders are clear it reflects basically a world caught
00:37between growing instability and at the same time new opportunity and also across panels a clear team
00:44has emerged uncertainty and of course many see the system that once supported global stability
00:51are under strain from political economic and geopolitical pressures all assumptions about
00:57global cooperation are no longer seem to hold at the same time a different story is being told
01:03while some want a doom loop driven by political division and uneven growth others see a boom loop
01:11led by clean energy and new technologies investments and this optimism is strongest among emerging economies
01:19and there is also a broad agreement that the post cold war global order is ending and the same time
01:26this rules-based system leaders admit is no longer working as it once did let's hear one of the
01:33panelists talk about the current situation of geoeconomic and geopolitics this is the doom loop if one
01:42thinks about the different forces in the world economy there is economics there is domestic politics and
01:48there is geopolitics and of course these go along parallel tracks and they do intersect with each other
01:53and those intersections can sometimes be a little painful but right now we are at a point where i think
01:59these three elements are intertwined in a way that is really difficult to separate but the problem is they are stuck in
02:07in something of a negative feedback loop that is each of these elements is sort of bringing out the worst
02:13in each other
02:14the message from world economic forum 2026 right here in davos new zealand is clear the world is at the crossroads
02:23the direction ahead will depend on whether leaders allow instability to grow or choose to turn to this
02:31challenges into lasting transformation that's it from davos 2026 welcoming forum see you next year
