00:00The South Africa's iconic Kruger National Park suffered major damage to critical infrastructure in recent flooding,
00:08with the cost of repairs estimated to run over $30 million, according to official figures.
00:15Torrential rains and floods last week forced the world-famous safari destination to shut down.
00:20In the Kruger National Park alone, the damage to critical infrastructure is so widespread
00:26that sandparks' earliest estimates are that the damage will be in excess of half a billion rand.
00:34Now, those are estimates. In certain areas, the flood levels haven't subsided enough for sandparks to be able to do a proper assessment.
00:44While there had been no loss of life within the park, parts of it were still underwater a week later, and 15 camps remained closed.
00:53These floods have now already affected South Africa.
00:57But all these main rivers, from the Limpopo, Lwuvu, Shingwetsi, Olyfans, Sabi rivers,
01:03they are flowing from west to east, and they are all going to reach Mozambique.
01:07They have already. But there will be severe damage in Mozambique due to this.
01:12So we are not only looking at mitigating and adaption to what we've got in South Africa,
01:18but also how we can assist our neighbouring countries, and specifically the Suddenk region.
01:22The loss of tourism revenue from the flagship park will put the sustainability of the entire network of park at risks
01:28because of the impact of sandparks' operating budget.
01:32The South African government has now set up a fund to ensure the recovery of the site,
01:36which is in a region increasingly sensitive to climate change and natural disasters.
01:41the South African people's local however is mining partners.
01:44Impossible from the South African people.
01:46That's the survey for the totalpendison.
