00:00Hi, I'm Josh Charles, acting here in Best Medicine, and we're going to take you on a
00:04little tour of our stage here in Newburgh, New York. Can we just talk about your job
00:07for a second? A lot of it really depends on the personality of talent. Sometimes they're
00:11good, sometimes they're not so good. Do you think I have a hard or an easy face to focus
00:14on? An easy face, most of the time. You have a good left side. I have a good left side?
00:19I didn't think I have any good side. On a serious note, tell us about focus pulling
00:21just for a second. The wider lenses have more depth of field. Depth of field is the amount
00:25of subject that's in focus. We're always focused on people's eyes. Throwing a wide shot, you
00:29see a lot more is in focus generally, but on the tighter shots, there's less and less
00:33focus. And these days with contemporary stuff we shoot with, there's very little depth of
00:37field. One last thing. Who's your favorite actor that you like working with on the show?
00:40It would be Josh Seguera. Oh, yeah. Okay, great. That's awesome. All right. Hey, thanks, man.
00:46Thank you. Appreciate it. Now, Joe is one of our camera operators, works with Doug. He operates
00:50the B camera here. What's your process? And can you tell us about the challenges of being
00:53a camera operator, but also the challenges of shooting with two cameras at the same time?
00:58Challenges of being a camera operator, number one is you're dealing with many conditions.
01:02You're dealing with the director's needs and wants and you're dealing with what the DP sets
01:06up for lighting and you can avoid things. And then you have to communicate with actors and
01:09trying to get them in the spot that you want them. And sometimes it's hard because they're
01:13in an emotional moment and then you're trying to finesse. How can I get you emotionally still
01:18in where you need to be, but still need you to stand where I need you to stand?
01:20What is a mark, by the way? A mark is the theme art that we put on the floor so that actors
01:24can hit it so that they can hit the correct light, the correct angle for the lens.
01:28Would you say I hit my mark more often than not? I mean, to be honest, yes.
01:32Wow. That hurts. Who do you enjoy working with the most?
01:36I think Abigail would be my favorite. Yeah. Abigail. Okay, cool. That's great. All right,
01:40man. Awesome. Hey, pleasure. Great talking to you, man.
