China’s Foreign Ministry has dismissed accusations of its arctic ambitions as groundless, after NATO said talks with the U.S. over Greenland is aimed at preventing Russia and China from gaining a foothold.

Spokesperson Guo Jiakun said China opposes “fabricating things out of thin air” and using Beijing as a pretext to pursue personal interests.
