A five-day Metro closure will affect services between Shiremoor and Newcastle city centre during the spring half-term break. Replacement buses will operate while major track upgrades are carried out.

00:00A busy section of the Tyne and Weir Metro will close for five days next month for major track
00:06replacement work. No trains will run between Shyamua and St James in either direction from
00:12the 16th to the 20th of February. Operator Nexus says replacement buses will run throughout the
00:19closure, stopping at or near all affected stations. The work is part of an asset renewal program with
00:26new track, sleepers and ballast installed between Chillingham Road and Walkergate. Nexus says
00:32scheduling during spring half-term should limit any disruption caused and the line is due to reopen
00:38on the 21st of February after the planned engineering work reaches completion.
