00:00New Giants head coach John Harbaugh just wrapped up his introductory press conference.
00:09I'm here with running back Tyrone Tracy Jr.
00:12Big two weeks for you, man.
00:14You get engaged and you get a new head coach.
00:16I guess coach just finished up.
00:18I just kind of, I was standing right next to you.
00:20A lot of smiles, a lot of head shaking.
00:22Just kind of take us into your world, your thoughts on Coach Harbaugh's introductory press conference.
00:27Yeah, I think when you first walked in, man, I think the first thing you recognize is that the man commands the room.
00:33That's the first thing.
00:34He commands the room.
00:35Second thing I realized is that he's not as big as he seems.
00:38He's very, you know, he's a little dude, but he has like, he has like this, he has this swagger about him, man.
00:44Okay, okay.
00:44This professionalism, like I said, the way he commands the room and like, you can just tell that he's going to be able, he's going to be a good leader.
00:52He's going to be a good leader of men, like, and he gains everybody's respect in the room.
00:57Like, and when he's talking, obviously all eyes on him.
01:00And I think another thing that I realized is like, just some of the stuff he was talking about was resonate with me personally.
01:05I think the first thing was how we're going to play.
01:09Like, your play style is everything.
01:10It doesn't matter, you know, who you're going against, what day of the week it is, you know, the weather.
01:15I think that that's me to a T, man.
01:17It doesn't matter what's going on.
01:18If we're up 20 and down 20, if you turn on the film, like, there's a certain way I run the ball.
01:22So, like I said, just offer it, man.
01:24I just, I have, obviously, a ton of respect for him.
01:26I know some dudes on the Ravens, on Baltimore, that I've talked to them.
01:31Like, they say he's a good coach, great coach.
01:33And he loves ball, and I love ball.
01:34So, I feel like there's going to be good things happening.
01:37When you think about your checklist that you had for a head coach, you know, before knowing that John Harbaugh or any of these candidates were there,
01:45how many of the boxes does a John Harbaugh check offer?
01:48You're saying before?
01:49Yeah, before.
01:49Before I came here today?
01:51Yeah, yeah, before you came here.
01:52Like, during this entire head coaching search, like, you knew you were going to have a new head coach.
01:56Right.
01:56So, for you personally, I guess Darius Slayton was like, oh, we want someone, I would like someone a little bit Coughlin-ish.
02:03In your checklist for what you wanted in the head coach, how much has that introductory press conference, how much did he check off there?
02:11Yeah, I mean, I think the first thing, you want someone who is confident, but then also determined.
02:17Because, like, when you have a confident, determined person in front of you, they're going to be a good leader.
02:23I think that's me personally.
02:26I mean, I think the second thing is you have to back up whatever you're speaking.
02:30Like, you can't, you know, say one thing and then do another.
02:33Again, like I said, I have friends in Baltimore.
02:35Like, whatever he said today, I promise you, like, he means it.
02:39And he means, like, he's going to, we're going to win.
02:42So, like, that's how he feels and that's, like, what he means.
02:46And then I think the last thing for me personally is when you're talking about a good head coach, man, you want to be a good leader of men.
02:52Okay.
02:52Like, whether, you know, it's, you know, a rainy day.
02:55You know, you should be able to get us out at 6 in the morning ready to play a game.
03:00Fire it up.
03:00Like, it's, you know, Monday night football.
03:03You know what I'm saying?
03:03So, like, I think when you're talking about the characteristics of a good head coach, you know, obviously he can speak well.
03:11But, like, that's, I don't think that's really in the works of being a good football coach.
03:16Like, he knows the X's and O's.
03:18But he also knows that, like, it's not the plays, it's the players.
03:21Okay.
03:21So, that's why he's a player coach.
03:23He's someone who's going to pour into your players.
03:26He's going to make sure you have the right values, the right characteristics, like everything.
03:30He's going to make sure that you are a good football player, period, point, and blank.
03:32And he knows who, how to run a team, but then he also knows who to have in the building.
03:38Because everyone can't be in the building.
03:40You can't have just anybody in the building.
03:41It has to be certain people, you know what I'm saying, to do stuff.
03:43So, I definitely do think that, like, we have the right guy.
03:48Lastly, a knock on him of what people were saying.
03:51Okay, he's 63 years old.
03:53His better days could be behind him.
03:56Did you feel that when he walked in, that he's 63 or he's been removed from the sport or anything?
04:01We're out of touch.
04:02Not at all.
04:03I didn't go lie.
04:04Like, when he walked in, man, it felt like he'd been here before.
04:07You know what I'm saying?
04:08That's really how it felt.
04:08It felt like, like, I don't know how to explain it.
04:11It just felt, it literally just felt like what he was saying, you know, he felt it.
04:16Like, he felt like we was going to win.
04:18He felt like we had the right people on the team.
04:20Like, whatever he felt, it made me feel like, man, I'm ready to go play right now.
04:23You know what I'm saying?
04:24That's what it is.
04:24That's how I feel.
04:25Can you play right now?
04:26No, yeah, I'm good.
04:27Can you play right now?
04:29It's not about me, right?
04:30You're right.
04:30It's not about me.
04:31But congratulations on the two weeks that you have.
