00:00And those are the images on your screens of the car in which Noida Techie, 27-year-old
00:11Ravraj, was travelling in that fell into the ditch, the 30-feet deep ditch.
00:17He drowned to his death.
00:19Three days on, 72 hours on, finally the officials have been able to locate the car, locate the
00:26vehicle and pull it out.
00:28Those images are on your screens.
00:29It was right down at the bottom of that 30-feet deep ditch and it's now been pulled out by
00:36the authorities.
00:37They've had quite a struggle for the last many days trying to even locate it.
00:41That entire area filled with water, with slush, with wild growth, they've finally been able
00:46to locate it.
00:46But it tells you really what 27-year-old Ravraj had to endure, what he went through as he
00:53waited for some help, as he waited for someone to come to his aid.
00:58Nobody did, of course, which is why he unfortunately drowned to his death on that cold, cold night
01:03over the weekend.
01:04And now, the car being pulled out after hours of search.
01:08Rescue authorities for the last many days have been searching their entire area, going around
01:13in boats, taking scuba teams as well to go and dive right in, dive deep and find the vehicle.
01:21They've finally been able to pull it out.
01:23Aarvind Oja is joining us with more details on this.
01:27Aarvind, finally, the car being located after great difficulty.
01:31Aarvind Oja is joining us with more details on this.
02:01Aarvind Oja is joining us with more details on this.
02:05Aarvind Oja is joining us with more details on this area.
02:09And now, the main condition of the Nazar
02:28So, this is a big mistake in the case of the Noda authority.
02:35Maybe it is the reason that the Noda's car was removed and tracked the car.
02:43The first image is on your screens there of the car.
02:47That's been pulled out.
02:49Remember and let's just tell you exactly what happened with Yuvraj.
02:52He was driving on a day in the night when the visibility was very poor.
02:56This was a bend, a very sharp turn.
02:59And there were concrete blocks that were just in fact dividing the road and that massive pit.
03:07In one area, there was no concrete block.
03:09And so, because there was no visibility, Yuvraj, instead of taking right, went straight into that pit as a result.
03:17He didn't know what to do. This was in the dead of the night.
03:20He immediately got out of the car, stood on top of the vehicle, as anyone would do, thinking your fighting chance is to get on top of the vehicle so you don't immediately drown in that massive pit.
03:31He had his phone with him.
03:32He sought help.
03:33He begged for help.
03:34Authorities reached there very delayed.
03:36And yet, despite that, there are so many reports, including eyewitnesses, who suggest that there was no attempt even made by the authorities to reach him, that they didn't go into that water and try to pull him out.
03:47But having said that, Yuvraj was seated on top of that car, begging for help for hours.
03:52He was on top of that vehicle, hoping someone would be able to pull him out safely.
03:56He had nowhere to go. He was stuck there, eventually, tragically, drowned to his death.
04:02But just look at how that car is being pulled out.
04:05Amid all of the muck, the growth, the wild growth, the car was stuck right in between that, wedged right in there.
04:12And had gone right to the bottom of the pit, which is why it took so much time and effort for authorities to even fish it out.
04:19And just imagine the ordeal that this 27-year-old techie had to undergo for no reason at all, for no blame of his.
04:28He was stuck in that position. Zero visibility.
04:31And anyone who drives through Delhi NCR will watch for the fact that this happens very often in winter, that you can just barely about see what's in front of you.
04:39And so this young techie, driving in the dead of night, no reflectors, nothing along that particular stretch, went straight into the ditch.
04:47There has been a crackdown since with the authorities ensuring that all of the top, including the Noida Authority CEO,
04:55is sacked for allowing this kind of a pit to not just be there, but to languish, to lie there with so much of water.
05:03The builder, by the way, has also been cracked down on.
05:06Bupendra Chaudhry, who is joining us live from the spot.
05:16Bupendra, tell us what's happening there.
05:19As we are seeing now, the car finally managed to pull it out.
05:22They have managed to pull it out.
05:24After all, they are running out of the middle of the gas, my voice has been playing during the night.
05:27It is not a good idea that this car got dropped off.
05:28The car is still in the middle of the night.
05:29It was installed after 6 to 7 hours.
05:31There has been the car after giving us a visit.
05:33After all, they are running out of the vehicle, they are on the inside.
05:34There are so many cars that have stopped coming back.
05:40The car was opened.
05:41They ran inside again.
05:43They ran back again.
05:44In the back after the car was stuck.
05:46after the rescue of 6-7 hours after the car will be removed.
05:50But the big question is that the car will be removed.
05:53But at the same time, 4 days before the car will be removed,
05:56the car will be removed.
05:58The car will be removed from the car.
06:03That's it.
06:04Okay, Bupendra getting us that update there.
06:07From the ground, the tragedy site there in sector 150 of Noida,
06:12the car has been pulled out.
06:14Let me also highlight here what the post-mortem report confirmed.
06:17That young Uvaraj, who was stuck atop that car in the freezing cold,
06:21yelling and begging for help, drowned to his death.
06:25In his lungs, they found 1-2 litres of water.
06:29For hours, he tried to fight.
06:31He even called his father saying,
06:33I don't want to die.
06:34His father begged for help.
06:36And yet nobody could actually reach this young man and pull him out.
06:39There are serious questions being asked of the authorities
06:41and the kind of help that they were able to provide.
06:44Why was the rescue team that was present there not going into the water,
06:48not pulling him out, not providing all necessary help?
06:50Why wouldn't they have adequate equipment to do so?
06:53There are so many questions that are being asked,
06:56but just the struggle for the authorities to pull out that vehicle.
07:00And look at the muck that's being pulled out with it.
07:02It gives you a sense, really, of what it's taken
07:05and how much of a struggle Uvaraj really went through.
07:09Sonal Mehrotra Kapoor is joining me on the phone line with more on this.
07:12Sonal, you were there at that spot early this morning.
07:14You saw the hunt going on for this car.
07:17But take us through, really, what that location looks like, Sonal,
07:20because that, in a sense, also highlights the glaring lapses that come to the fore.
07:25Just to say that this car that we see on our television screens right now,
07:32it's been inside that entire water body for four days.
07:36It's taken the authorities four days to bring out that car.
07:40They also lost critical hours to save the life of Uvaraj as well,
07:45a very young, promising 27-year-old who could not be saved
07:50despite all the authorities being there,
07:52standing there and not knowing what to do.
07:55It's a national shame that here,
07:57in such close proximity to the national capital, this is the situation.
08:01But coming back to this car, just look at that.
08:04Today, finally, after four days,
08:06the NDRS had actually got onto that water body.
08:09They got their boats out. They got divers.
08:11They wore their entire suits in.
08:14They went in scuba and finally tried to find the car.
08:18They caught it at the location at 11 in the morning.
08:20It's taken them now almost quarter to seven to get this car out.
08:24That again highlights perhaps the massive inefficiency of the system.
08:29Four days later, you finally get your hands on the car and see where it's been found.
08:34It's found right there next to the edge.
08:37That means perhaps the car was not speeding the way which we were earlier thinking.
08:41It felt right into the ditch, flattened.
08:44It's right next to the crack.
08:46Where, also to remind our viewers, as we've been saying since the very beginning,
08:50that just 15 days ago another truck had fallen down the same track.
08:55That there was a bit of a dent which is there,
08:57where you see there was a breach, and that's where the Grand Batara went in as well.
09:01Now, this at the moment is caught in and shocked so many people,
09:05because actually this could have been your and my car.
09:08This is not a very far off place.
09:10It's 150 sector.
09:11You have apartments there which sell out for 2CR, 3CR on the whole.
09:16This is the kind of place people aspire to live in and look at the facilities there.
09:20Look at the infrastructure there.
09:22This is shocking, embarrassing, to say the least.
09:25And clearly now, like we've been saying from the very beginning,
09:28just removing the CEO of Noida Authority,
09:31who sat on complaint after complaint for six years at the stretch,
09:35will not be enough.
09:36They've got more answering to do, and what are they doing now?
09:39Because, remember, several death traps like these,
09:42these deadly right-angle turns, which do not have blinkers,
09:46which do not have any kind of barricading,
09:48which does not even have a street light or a CCTV camera.
09:51These, there are so many of these all across Noida and Greater Noida.
09:55These are death traps and disasters which are waiting to happen.
09:59The authorities have got to get its act together
10:01and figure out how to fix the system to its core.
10:04You're right, Sonal.
10:05And, you know, here on India Today we promise to follow this up,
10:08not just to ensure justice for young Yuvraj,
10:11but also to highlight all of those death traps that Sonal was referring to across the country.
10:16This isn't just one city's problem.
10:18This is an urban nightmare across the country, let's face it.
10:22The kind of infrastructure that we have, accidents, mishaps,
10:26tragedies like this are waiting, waiting to happen,
10:29which is why I would even say that this isn't an accident.
10:32It's outright murder.
10:34This was something that was waiting to happen.
10:36And we have consistently reported of the number of warnings,
10:39because you had similar incidents of vehicles falling, by the way,
10:43through that boundary into the ditch.
10:45In those cases, absolutely miraculous that nobody died.
10:48But this was a tragedy, therefore, waiting to happen that nobody cared about
10:52until, unfortunately, the demise of 27-year-old Yuvraj.
10:56Thank you, Yuvraj.
10:58That's not really.
10:59Thank you very much.
