00:00Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has announced that Year 4 pupils will take a new standardized assessment starting this year.
00:09The test will cover four subjects, Bahasa Melayu, English, Science, and Mathematics,
00:14and will be administered by the Malaysian Examination Board.
00:30He added that these assessments are also known as the Malaysian Learning Matrix.
00:57He also confirmed that preschool education would begin at age 5, with Year 1 starting for children age 6, beginning next year.
01:06However, Anwar stressed that parents are not required to enroll their children at age 5 if they feel their children are not ready.
01:13He said the move reflects changing needs while recognizing differences in children's readiness.
