00:00Two ferries docked at a pier were destroyed in a fire at the northern shipyard along Jalan
00:07Bukit Malut in Langkawi on Monday night. The Kedah Fire and Rescue Department said they received a
00:14call about the incident at 9.46 p.m. They said upon arrival, firefighters found that six ferries
00:20were involved, two of which, namely MyFerry1 and Star Pyramid, were about 80 percent engulfed in
00:27flames, and had drifted approximately 50 meters away from the dock. They said a newly built ferry
00:33called Marin Star 2, which was at the jetty, also caught fire but sustained only about five percent
00:39damage. They said two other ferries, namely Marin Star 1 and Ferry Langkawi, were spared by the fire,
00:46while MyFerry2 managed to leave the jetty and was secured at a floating buoy offshore.
