Terry Manning – Home Sweet Home 1970 (USA, Psychedelic Rock)

Terry Manning is a music producer, performer, photographer, and recording engineer for renowned rock bands. Manning began his career in the music industry in the early 1960s in El Paso, Texas, where he played guitar in several local bands, sometimes accompanied by his friend Bobby Fuller. He moved to Memphis, Tennessee, in 1963, where he worked for many years at Stax Records and Ardent Studios as an engineer and producer for such artists as Isaac Hayes, Ike & Tina Turner, Booker T. & The MGs, Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top, Eddie Floyd, Otis Redding, The Boxtops, Johnny Taylor, Leon Russell, and many others. As a photographer, Manning photographed Chuck Berry, Procol Harum, Steppenwolf, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, and many other musicians of the era. He was also one of the last photographers to photograph Martin Luther King, Jr., the day before his assassination. In 1970, Manning licensed the release of his solo album, Home Sweet Home, which blended psychedelic rock, soul, and raunchy R&B, essentially becoming one of the first and boldest Beatles cover artists with its funky, jagged rhythms. The album itself is a mocking explosion of diverse rock styles from start to finish.
