India and Russia are among dozens of countries invited by U.S. President Donald Trump to join the new 'Board of Peace' aimed at overseeing the reconstruction of Gaza.

00:06to join the new Board of Peace aimed at overseeing the reconstruction of Gaza.
00:12At least eight more countries have also confirmed receiving invitations,
00:16with Hungary, Vietnam and Canada accepting.
00:20India's invitation was confirmed by the U.S. ambassador to New Delhi in a post on X,
00:26but India has not yet announced if it will participate.
00:30While Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov says its president, Vladimir Putin, is currently studying the proposal.
00:37The U.S. says a $1 billion contribution secures permanent membership on the board
00:44with funds to go towards Gaza's reconstruction.
00:49Other countries invited to join include Germany, Pakistan, Jordan, Greece, Australia,
00:54Canada, Turkey and Egypt, with official members expected to be announced soon.
01:00The board will oversee the ceasefire's second phase, including to disarm Hamas,
01:05establish an international security force and start reconstruction in Gaza.
01:10However, a charter of the board seen by several media outlets makes no mention of Gaza at all.
01:18Instead, it describes the board as a U.S.-led body aimed at handling conflicts around the world,
01:23a role the United Nations has been doing for decades.
