00:00performance against England and determined to set the record straight here.
00:04They've made changes from the humiliation at Wembley, bringing in an extra defender,
00:09Johan de Kock, who came on as a half-time substitute against England,
00:12and Philippe Cocou is surprisingly preferred to Clarence Seydorf in midfield.
00:18But the big news is the return of Patrick Kluivert in attack.
00:22France, as you've heard, haven't lost an international for two years and seven months.
00:31And a big factor in their success is the consistency of their team selection.
00:36No fewer than eight of this line-up have started every game in these championships.
00:40The only real decision for coach Ami Jacquet was who to play up front with Zidane,
00:45and he's opted for Patrice Loco in preference to Christophe Dugary, who drops down to substitute.
00:52Anfield, and I'm sure that counts for just about everyone watching.
00:59Certainly the man alongside me does.
01:01Kevin Keegan, what sort of match are you expecting here tonight?
01:04Well, I think it's a mouth-watering prospect just thinking about this game.
01:07If it can come to life, two very, very good sides.
01:10Interesting for me to see how the Dutch bounce back.
01:12I wouldn't say it was a humiliation at Wembley because England did finish all the chances they made very, very well.
01:18It was clinical finishing.
01:18But they'll bounce back from that.
01:21They could still win this.
01:22There's still a danger to everybody in the competition at the Dutch.
01:26Certainly the Dutch newspapers were not slow to criticise their team.
01:31They had a vicious press back home after the defeat against England.
01:35And rather as it did with the England party, I think, early on in these championships,
01:39that steeled them to bounce back tonight.
01:41Here's Guerin for the French, making their first attack towards the Cobb goal.
01:48Often an overlooked player, little Vincent Guerin in the side.
01:53Not one of the obvious, skilful types, but gets through tremendous work in midfield to provide the platform for others.
02:00Guerin giving the ball away, but then retrieving his own error.
02:12The Dutch commentators were surprised at the choice of Giddink's line-up tonight.
02:19They're used to playing three centre-backs and two wing-backs, as they call them these days.
02:23But they seem to have gone for a conventional back-four tonight.
02:28Long ball for Kluivert, dealt with it very capably by Thuron.
02:34Again, a real demonstration of his strength again, Alan.
02:36He is like a bull, isn't he?
02:39I'm sure, having beaten his man, despite the foul, he would have liked play to go on there.
02:44It's OK, yeah.
02:45Lips it across, and that's a tremendous pullet header.
02:49However, it was into the cop, not into the net, from Caron Boer.
02:52Everything right but the direction, it gets so brilliantly, but this is about 20 yards wide, Alan.
03:01From the game, and I feel if this side gets resulted, it could really be dangerous to in this competition.
03:08Holland's first corner, midway through the half.
03:13Over the ball, hard as head and net!
03:15Oh, that should have been the first goal, and De Boer knows it.
03:19They seem to be all attracted to the big men, like Boer Harder.
03:24They left De Boer unmarked on the far post, and he couldn't finish.
03:28Well, it's Gehan here.
03:29He just ball watches, and he doesn't jump, and what a chance that was.
03:32And, you know, although Koku is playing out on the left side, he is a centre-forward as well.
03:37So, he'll be disappointed, and at least hit the target.
03:40To be fair to the goalkeeper, Lama, he did just enough to put him off.
03:43Give it away to Zidane.
03:54A brilliant run down on the left by Liza Razou.
03:58Tempting cross, and Van der Saar's lost it.
04:01Karam Baird, and still Karam Baird.
04:05He could have had a goal at either end in the space of 60 seconds or less.
04:09This is a tremendous ball for Liza Razou, and the keeper comes, he can't get it.
04:17And he just won't come down for Kallenberg, but he has a go.
04:20He gets a lucky one, and possibly would be disappointed he couldn't keep the second one down.
04:24As you can see, he wasn't even in the picture there, Clive, that's how far off receiving that pass he was.
04:36Yeah, you're really looking for Bergkamp there to go on his own, but his first touch took him to his left.
04:40I don't think he wanted that, and then he was looking to bail out because he obviously missed his chance.
04:45The ball chipped forward here to Deschamps, headed away by Vicka.
04:50Mohada completes the clearance, but Karam Baird has it for France.
04:57In the middle, Loco.
04:59Great turn!
05:00My word, that could have been some goal, that away.
05:03Lost the defender there, it reminded me of a certain Kay Dalglish who used to do that regularly down that end.
05:08Yeah, certainly did.
05:10What the difference is, probably Kenny might have scored, but look at his strength.
05:13He's holding off Bogarts here, it's not easy.
05:15And in one touch, turns.
05:17And if this is on target, far corner, it's a goal.
05:22Cliver.
05:26Good.
05:29What about that for the ball?
05:31Bergkamp.
05:32Cliver in a good position, he wanted it early.
05:35It's pulled back instead.
05:36And Koku hit that, and as he did, he was challenged.
05:40And I think the tackle was all important.
05:42It certainly was, and it's from Deschamps, and he worked really hard here.
05:46Bergkamp does everything right.
05:47Beautiful layback, and the defender to Deschamps, second favourite here.
05:50And he just does enough.
05:56It's been some glorious build-up play from Holland.
06:01As yet, nothing on the end.
06:02Deschamps, second one, though, into Blastard.
06:22In the back team, certainly, they did it quite well.
06:26Brising it.
06:27Here's Blint.
06:37Inchka.
06:39Well, we say they were pretty awful at Wembley, which is true.
06:43It was England's superb performance that made it so.
06:46Never forget that.
06:47It's half-time at Anfield.
06:51France nil.
06:53The Netherlands nil.
06:54Chances for both teams, certainly.
06:57But as yet, the deadlock unbroken.
07:00We'll be back soon.
07:02Keegan and Alan Parry.
07:03Biggie Bob, as France get the second half underway.
07:08And for all those chances Holland had, I suppose you'd say it's no great surprise that the French have kept the clean sheet.
07:15They did so in eight of their ten qualifying games, and conceded, in fact, just two goals in those ten matches.
07:22And defence has been the hallmark of their long, unbeaten run.
07:27Remember in their opening game, the French against Romania.
07:37He didn't know much about it, but he certainly scored the win.
07:40Yeah.
07:44So, can France produce a bit of magic from this free kick?
07:48Laurent Blanc, Joakayev and Zidane all around the ball.
07:52Zidane hits it!
07:53I don't know where that part's close, so I've looked it from here, anyway.
07:58It'll be interesting to see if Zidane actually gets more involved in the game now.
08:01He's used to playing with De Garry at club level.
08:03At least he was, they're both moving.
08:05But this is very, very close.
08:07I mean, far, far closer than I think even the goalkeeper thought.
08:11He just rolled across here.
08:15This is the guy we're saying he's got a lovely left foot, and he really did have a sign for a strong play for notes.
08:23Lit for Holland.
08:27Fogu on the left.
08:31Krivert!
08:31He has a look round there to see if he was offside, because if you miss a chance like this, sometimes you wish you were.
08:45There's nothing wrong with him getting up and for the timings out, as you would expect for someone who's missed so much football.
08:50Well, if you were to place a free kick anywhere you wanted to, you'd place it somewhere around here, I think.
08:58You know, you can bend it in the left and put it in the right, you know, do all sorts of things from this area.
09:02Can Holland produce the breakthrough from this free kick?
09:09The wall will charge out the moment the ball's in play.
09:15Kopu hits it.
09:23It's inches away as it's deflected wide from producing the first goal.
09:29I honestly thought that was on its way in.
09:30I think, I think everybody did, especially Lama, because what can a goalkeeper do when he gets a deflection like this?
09:37You've just got to sit and watch it.
09:38It actually clips the post.
09:40Corner, could have been a goal.
09:47Pedros, it's clear.
09:49Getting clear now, I should say.
09:52Here's Seydour for Holland.
09:55And the ball given away to Pedros.
10:01Zidane.
10:04He's a Razu.
10:05That's a poor ball, easy for the keeper.
10:12Holland lifted by that near miss.
10:14And they've got another injury, though.
10:16Johan de Kock is limping towards the touchline here.
10:20As Holland go forward themselves with Merle there.
10:26He's off the pitch receiving treatment at the moment.
10:29And Holland have got another free kick.
10:35This is as close to France can ever go to going out.
10:49O'Hara for Holland.
10:53Mulder.
10:55Held off his man well.
10:56And clips it forward.
10:57And Seydour in a great position here.
10:59What a wonder save that was by Le Mare.
11:02It looked as though a goal had to happen.
11:07Well, this is the best move of the match so far.
11:09And it's done the strength of Muldery.
11:11He holds it up.
11:12Great ball through.
11:14You really think he's going to score.
11:15The goalkeeper has to do.
11:16Spread himself.
11:18Does it tremendously.
11:19And then he gets the bit of fortune.
11:20Doesn't matter which way.
11:21As long as there's a free kick.
11:23Holland have loaded the penalty area with players here.
11:26They must have eight men in the box.
11:30It's a poor delivery.
11:31Wouldn't you just know it?
11:32And that, in fact, is the end.
11:35So we have reached full time.
11:38With no goals here at Anfield.
11:40It means we will go to half an hour's extra time.
11:43We won't miss a second of that, of course.
11:44But let's take a quick break.
11:46Welcome back to Anfield.
11:48Extra time just underway here.
11:50And remember, the golden goal rule comes into effect here.
11:56And that means, quite simply, that if there is a goal before the allotted half an hour of extra time,
12:01it's all over.
12:02And the scorer will take his side into the semifinals.
12:06If, however, we do not get a goal in that half an hour of extra time,
12:11we will go to penalties.
12:11Let's take a look at it.
12:22Lamar, who made that vital save at the end from Seydorf.
12:25Getting the ball a good distance.
12:27Jokaev.
12:28Now, it was ambitious, but it's just about hit the corner flag.
12:32That effort from Jokaev, who's been a bit disappointing tonight, Kevin.
12:37Yeah, I think I've been disappointed in two or three French players.
12:40I mentioned before Zidane.
12:41He still hasn't had any impact on this game at all.
12:44But Jokaev's had quite a good tournament up to now.
12:47Hasn't been able to really get into the positions where I think he's best,
12:51which is last third of the field.
12:53Because the French, although they've had some good play up to that point,
12:56has grown down a lot.
12:57But you keep thinking the French have got another gear,
13:00that they can step up.
13:00But as yet tonight, they haven't been able to do it against the Ducks.
13:07And Ross hasn't been able to get into the game,
13:09albeit he's not been on that long as a substitute.
13:11He's an exciting player, the long-haired left midfield man.
13:15Hilda, with a good ball forward.
13:17Now, danger here.
13:18Kluivert has pulled away to the far post.
13:20And wouldn't it have just been the romantic story that Holland were looking for
13:24if he had managed the winner from De Boer's cross?
13:29Yeah, this is great.
13:31De Boer, what's a great player he is.
13:32He just waits, waits, got time.
13:35Delivers a great ball.
13:37And it's the techniques.
13:38It's not quite there at the moment for Kluivert.
13:41Pedros will take the kick.
13:56Uwe van der Sar missed it completely
13:58and seemed transfixed to the spot
14:01as the ball bounced in front of him.
14:02This is great delivery from Pedros,
14:09but, I mean, it fools everybody.
14:12Including LeBlanc at the far post.
14:16The million Dutchman,
14:18hella brett at that moment.
14:19French skill and determination
14:31wins the ball back to them.
14:32Jorkeyev and a lovely turn.
14:34Pedros.
14:35Zidane wants it in early.
14:38O'Harda has lost it.
14:39Zidane, this could be the goal.
14:41And it could be for Jorkeyev.
14:43And it's a brilliant save by van der Sar.
14:45Holland cling on by their fingernails.
14:51Well, Jorkeyev's disappointed.
14:52This is the first time
14:53we've seen anything from Zidane.
14:55What a great ball he pulls back.
14:57But I don't think Jorkeyev should blame himself
14:59because this is great goalkeeping.
15:00Watch what he does.
15:01Spreads himself brilliantly.
15:08Both keepers have performed heroics now.
15:12The corner comes in.
15:13Karim Bohr couldn't quite reach it.
15:14And the whistle has gone to end
15:16the first period of extra time.
15:19Still nil-nil.
15:21And the Tsar,
15:22the hero for the moment,
15:23for Holland.
15:29Teams are supposed to change straight round.
15:32Coaches are not supposed to come on.
15:33Nor are they allowed to bring on any water
15:36or whatever.
15:39Well, this referee will probably let them do it
15:41because...
15:42I feel sorry for him
15:44because he's just had one of those nights
15:45where, you know,
15:47the decisions he's made
15:48have not been the right ones
15:50on too many occasions.
15:52But for both coaches now,
15:53there's very, very little you can say to players.
15:55The players are very experienced at this level.
15:58There's no massive change in tactics
15:59available to either coach.
16:01They've used all the bullets just about.
16:03They've just got to grin and bear it now.
16:06And the Dutch are not kicking towards
16:09the massive supporters that we see there.
16:12But it's very evenly poised.
16:13These two teams have just cancelled each other out.
16:16And if you were studying it like you do,
16:20horse racing,
16:21you would say,
16:22well, England should beat France
16:24if they come across them
16:25because they beat the Dutch.
16:26But of course,
16:27unlike horse racing,
16:29football doesn't...
16:30doesn't really work out that way,
16:33as we know.
16:34I've got to say,
16:35I'm in a dilemma anyway.
16:37My money's on the French.
16:38My heart's with the Dutch,
16:39so I can't win whatever happens.
16:42As France get us underway.
16:47Second period of extra time.
16:50It could last 15 minutes.
16:51It could last 15 seconds.
16:53Mulder for Holland.
16:57Seydorf.
17:00And Desailly defends well
17:02and then gives it away to Vinter.
17:07For Fada.
17:09And again,
17:14big Winston Bohada
17:15trundling forward,
17:17leaving it to
17:18the substitute Mulder.
17:26Reisiger.
17:31Reisiger coming forward
17:32with Menis here.
17:34De Boer.
17:39Blint.
17:42Through for De Boer.
17:44Will he reach it in time?
17:46Yes.
17:49Well played, De Boer.
17:51He needs a bit of help.
17:54And he gets it
17:55from the referee's whistle.
17:56I think that's a free kick.
17:57Incidentally, apologies at this stage
18:02if you're tuning in to watch
18:03You've Been Framed.
18:05It's not going to be shown
18:05because the match here, of course,
18:07has gone into extra time
18:08and possibly penalty kicks as well.
18:11He kicked to Holland.
18:18Difficult one to the keeper.
18:19He did brilliantly there, Lamar.
18:21Another barrage of bodies
18:23coming at him.
18:27Vinter.
18:27Oh, that was a dangerous fall
18:33and again, the goalkeeper
18:34caught it
18:34and very nearly stepped back
18:35across the line as well.
18:39Well, it caused him a few problems.
18:40I think Vinter will be disappointed
18:41with that one
18:42because he was trying to pull it back.
18:43Obviously, he wasn't shooting.
18:45But this goalkeeper, Lamar,
18:46has done everything
18:47asked of him in this tournament so far.
18:49I know he's a little bit eccentric.
18:50Play-off.
18:52Now Zidane.
18:54Durant lets it run.
18:56Pedros.
19:00Picks out Jokiev.
19:03Oh, great effort.
19:05Well saved, Van der Sar.
19:06And the sun shot.
19:09First time we've really seen Jokiev tonight.
19:11And what is it?
19:11A shot from fully 25, 30 yards from an angle.
19:15But didn't he hit it well?
19:16Great ball from Larius over to him.
19:18One touch and smack.
19:20The keeper has to be
19:21like a few days ago.
19:23I'm sure it wasn't.
19:27The French have a chance
19:28to get a place
19:29in the semi-finals here.
19:35There's all kinds of scrapping
19:37that have gone in the wall here.
19:40Sort that one out, Mr. Referee.
19:46Lamar has deserted his goal
19:47at the other end.
19:48He's gone to the halfway line
19:49to have his...
19:50three francs worth.
19:53Jokiev hits it!
19:54Oh, that was close.
19:57A lick of paint or two away.
19:59Thick paint, admittedly.
20:10And a decent header by the chap behind the goal.
20:14How to defend.
20:21Oh, lovely skill.
20:22Guerin.
20:24Zidane.
20:25Great effort.
20:27Not far wide of target.
20:37120th minute before we've really seen anything.
20:40It's never going to beat the keeper,
20:43but it's the first time we've seen him
20:44do anything like what he's capable of.
20:47Holland can break.
20:48Holland can break.
20:49And with only seconds remaining,
20:51this could be their last attack.
20:55De Boer.
20:55Fybert has made a terrific run forward,
20:59but it's all too late.
21:01There's the final whistle.
21:03Extra time is finished.
21:04We didn't get our golden goal.
21:06We will get penalty kicks
21:08on the repeat of the afternoon's events
21:11at Wembley.
21:16So, Kevin,
21:17two of the quarterfinals
21:19have gone to penalty kicks now.
21:20We were just discussing at half-time
21:22that what are the odds
21:23are wonder on all four of them
21:25going in this competition
21:26where there's been so little to choose
21:28between so many teams.
21:29They're so evenly matched,
21:30these two sides.
21:32Defenders, again,
21:33have won the day here.
21:34I don't think it was so much that way
21:36at Wembley this afternoon.
21:37I thought that was a more
21:38exciting game than this.
21:40But we've had 240 minutes of football now.
21:44We haven't seen a goal today,
21:46so that's disappointing.
21:48It's sort of been the trend
21:49coming in the competition
21:50where goals have been hard.
21:52Forwards have found it hard
21:53to score goals.
21:54And we've just seen
21:55an extension of that here today.
21:58OK, so we're going to have
21:59the drama of penalty kicks
22:01here at Anfield.
22:02Penalties will be at the cop end,
22:04which has seen a fair bit of drama
22:05down the years
22:06and is about to see
22:07some more unfold here.
22:09Johan de Kock,
22:10the part-timer
22:11in the Dutch team
22:12with the full-time responsibility
22:14of penalty number one
22:16and hammered in
22:17off the underside of the bar.
22:19Holland get the Vicle first
22:21under their belts.
22:25Kevin?
22:27Well, just listening to them
22:28in the studio,
22:28it really hits this.
22:29I mean, it could have just as easily
22:30liked Spain's first one,
22:31but this one,
22:32it's the underside of the bar
22:33and it flies into the roof
22:34of the net.
22:36But this goalkeeper,
22:38Van der Sar,
22:39will look,
22:40the goals will look a bit
22:41smaller behind him.
22:43I know the other one's
22:43more agile,
22:44they're quite right in the studio
22:45to say that,
22:46Lama is,
22:46but that goal will look pretty small
22:48behind this guy.
22:49He's massive.
22:51Shrieks of disapproval
22:52for Zidane
22:53to try and put him off
22:54from the Dutch fans.
22:56It didn't work.
22:57Calm,
22:58low,
22:59into the corner,
23:001-1.
23:02It's his birthday tomorrow.
23:03He would not have wanted
23:04to miss this.
23:06Very good penalty.
23:08I mean,
23:09six foot,
23:09five of him
23:10couldn't get to that.
23:11It's right in the corner.
23:12And that's a good penalty
23:13from Zidane.
23:13He hasn't had a great game.
23:15It's never easy to take one
23:16when you're not playing well.
23:19Ronald De Boer,
23:20the next one for Holland.
23:21And in.
23:25Well,
23:25you knew he wouldn't miss,
23:26Alan.
23:27I mean,
23:28he's just everything.
23:29For me,
23:30as a footballer,
23:31he's composed,
23:32he's a leader,
23:33and he's a man in a crisis.
23:36And he's thrown that one
23:37in beautifully.
23:43Yuri Zokheyev,
23:44who came as close
23:45as anyone
23:45in the period
23:46of extra time
23:47to producing
23:48a winning goal,
23:50now tries his luck
23:51from 12 yards out.
23:562-2.
23:58The penalty's been impressive.
24:04Four very good penalties
24:05up tonight.
24:06This is an excellent one.
24:07Just waits for the keeper
24:08to move and strokes it
24:09in the opposite corner.
24:10And now it's the turn
24:13of Patrick Kluivert,
24:15scorer of two goals
24:16on this ground,
24:17which enabled Holland
24:18to qualify for these finals
24:20when they beat
24:21the Republic
24:22in a play-off.
24:28The goalkeeper
24:28guessed the right way,
24:30but you can tell
24:31from Kluivert's delight
24:32that he didn't get
24:33the right result
24:34as far as France
24:35are concerned.
24:36Holland score again.
24:37Another superb penalty
24:38right in the corner.
24:40Actually,
24:41it's where the stanchion
24:42would be.
24:43Tremendous penalty,
24:44that one.
24:46Now,
24:47Lizarazu,
24:48the French left back.
24:53So far,
24:55all five penalties
24:56taken have been
24:57converted successfully.
24:58And there's another one.
25:063-3.
25:12That makes it
25:13six great penalties
25:14and this one's terrific.
25:15Power
25:15and precision.
25:19Clarence Seedorf
25:20will take the next penalty
25:21here
25:22for Holland.
25:24Still
25:24only 20,
25:26but he's played
25:27on the biggest stage
25:28for the last
25:28three or four years.
25:31Even so,
25:32I suspect the nerves
25:33will be afflicting him
25:33and I hate it
25:34when referees do that.
25:35It's maybe a centimetre
25:36off the penalty spot
25:37and they put more
25:38pressure on players
25:39by insisting
25:40it's exactly right.
25:45And Seedorf
25:46has missed.
25:48And I just wonder
25:49what part
25:50the referee's
25:51unnecessary intervention
25:52played in that.
25:53I think you're
25:56totally right,
25:57Alan.
25:57I mean,
25:57we'll never know
25:58because obviously
25:58you can't turn
25:59the clock back
26:00but so finicky
26:01he's been all night
26:02and he just had
26:02to get in on this one.
26:03Nevertheless,
26:04good save from Lama
26:04but it was a poor penalty.
26:07It's not in the corners
26:08like all the others
26:09have been.
26:09It's straight down
26:10the middle
26:10and it's a height
26:11that Lama
26:12didn't have really
26:13too much trouble
26:14in keeping it out.
26:18So,
26:18this is the opportunity
26:20for France
26:21to take the lead
26:23here.
26:25Guerin
26:25with a vital,
26:27vital kick
26:27scored.
26:304-3 to France.
26:31And this next penalty
26:38kick for Holland
26:39could not be more
26:41important
26:42because if Danny Blint
26:43does not score here
26:45then Holland
26:46are out of the competition.
26:50He saved them
27:05for the moment anyway.
27:12The drama unfolds
27:15on this June evening
27:16at Anfield
27:17because the next penalty
27:19kick which is going
27:20to be taken
27:21by Laurent Blanc
27:22could be
27:24the kick
27:25that sends France
27:27through to the
27:28semi-finals
27:29of the European
27:29Championships
27:30and sends Holland
27:32on their way home.
27:36This
27:37to win the game.
27:39This
27:39for a place
27:41in the semi-finals.
27:43I think he'll just
27:44blast it Alan
27:44that's my bet.
27:45He'll just run up
27:46and he'll hit it
27:47hard.
27:47He'll close his eyes
27:48in the hope.
27:50Told you.
27:55Blanc
27:55has scored.
27:58The sad faces
27:59belong to the Dutch
28:01and France
28:03are through
28:04to the semi-finals.
28:08Joy
28:09unconfined
28:10in the French
28:11quarter
28:11of Anfield.
28:12the misery
28:15couldn't be deeper
28:16for the Netherlands.
28:18The cruelest
28:18way
28:19to go out.
28:20Side-footed goal
28:22by Laurent Blanc.
28:23How cool
28:23can you get?
28:24Lamar
28:25the goalkeeper
28:26added his
28:28celebrations
28:28and France
28:30are into
28:31the last four
28:32where they will
28:32meet
28:33either
28:34Portugal
28:35or the Czech
28:36Republic.
28:37And Holland
28:37you've just
28:39got to feel
28:39for them.
28:39Poor
28:40Sador.
28:41And I have
28:42to go back
28:42to that moment.
28:43Surely a referee
28:44must realise
28:45what agonies
28:46players are going
28:47through anyway.
28:48How they
28:48psych themselves
28:49up and get
28:49concentrated to
28:50take a penalty.
28:51If it had been
28:52seriously off the
28:53spot I could have
28:54understood the
28:54referee's intervention.
28:56It wasn't and I
28:57don't think he
28:58helped Sador's
28:58cause at all.
28:59Well there's a
29:00talking point.
29:02But the only
29:03talking point that
29:04matters is that
29:05France are through.
29:06We'll be back soon.
29:21Welcome back.
29:21France are in the
29:22semi-finals courtesy
29:23of a penalty shootout.
29:25One of the best
29:25sequences I think
29:26I've seen Alex.
29:27Yeah well 10 penalty
29:28kicks and 9 nicks
29:29wins and just a pity
29:31for the clan seed
29:32off he's taken
29:33the one bad one.
29:33Yeah can I just
29:34ask you about that
29:35to John now.
29:36The referee played
29:36a part here didn't
29:37he?
29:38Yeah it's slightly
29:39unnerving because
29:40he's placed the ball
29:40I think with a lot
29:42of penalties
29:42it's probably an
29:43indentation so he's
29:44wanted to move it
29:44off the indentation
29:45and the referee as
29:46you can see is in
29:47a slide hole.
29:47He's made him move
29:48it again and it
29:49was a terrible
29:50penalty.
29:51But I'm sure that
29:51would be very
29:52unnerving for him
29:53Just taking it
29:54forward Alex in
29:56the semi-final
29:56France will play
29:57Portugal or the
29:58Czech Republic.
29:59That's right it
30:00should be a good
30:01game.
30:01I think Portugal
30:02have a great
30:02chance.
30:03I've been very
30:04impressed with
30:04them.
30:05But France have
30:06shown a lot of
30:06weaknesses today.
30:08There were no
30:08authority in their
30:10football today and
30:12certainly no
30:12imagination or
30:13flair.
30:14It's all hard
30:14working.
30:15I feel it's not
30:15going to get them
30:16far.
30:16A brief final word
30:17John.
30:18Well France didn't
30:19play as well as I
30:20think they can but
30:21they work hard they
30:22grind out results and
30:23you can't underestimate
30:24the value of hard
30:25work and it's
30:26short against the
30:26Dutch flair they've
30:27actually won the
30:28match.
30:28Okay John.
30:29I'm sorry.
30:29I'm sorry.
30:29I'm sorry.
