00:00Bringing a blend of speed, precocity, and durability, Beauvachier has arrived to stand the 2026 breeding season at Ara d'Etreham for a fee of 7,000 euros.
00:13We talked to the farm's owner, Nicolas de Chambure, responsible for launching the career of another seven furlong specialist, Wooten Bassett, into superstardom as a stallion.
00:23He tells us what to expect from his new recruit.
00:30We feel he's got quite a bit going for him as a stallion prospect.
00:37First, his bloodline, he's quite an outcross, he's going to be easy for the breeder to use.
00:44He's Lope de Vega out of Seed Star Mare, so this is a successful stallion on both sides.
00:51Lope de Vega is yet to have a successful son in France.
00:56He's done really well as a star of star with some of his young son in England and Ireland.
01:01So it's exciting for the French breeders to be accessing that blood without having to travel.
01:07And he was a very precocious early horse, more than his pedigree suggests.
01:13You know, he was out in May, he beat Ramatuel on his second start over six furlongs.
01:20And he did carry that precocious all the way to the Jean de Plagard there, where he was an unlucky third.
01:25So, you know, a precocious horse with a very strong turn of foot.
01:30And finally, you know, he stayed sound and he performed well until a four year old, which I think is very important as well.
01:38The market, you know, tends to have a bit more appetite for the co-city in, you know, meaning sort of short return or people being a bit impatient.
01:50But I think horses that have shown, you know, a bit of ability, you know, a bit of something at two, it's always important.
01:58The fact that Bovatier, and that was his trainer quote, that he had never seen a vest, you know, it was a big factor for us.
02:06And I think it makes a lot of appeal for the breeders because we're trying and the racing is meant to be, to allow us to select the stallions for tomorrow.
02:16And I think sometimes we tend to allow too much horses that have, you know, only won one race or that were unsound.
02:26And I think the market sort of, you know, give probably too much room to those horses.
02:31In Bovatier's case, people can see that he was consistent three years in a row without having any hole in his career.
02:40And it's important for us, we're going to support him.
02:45I think his best distance was really seven furlong.
02:48And it's a distance that where you need speed, turn of foot and a little bit of stamina.
02:54And, and I think it's actually good that we like to see in stallion.
02:58And, you know, hopefully there'll be similarities down the road between Bovatier and Seahoodie and Wooten-Bassett.
