00:00A high-level meeting between Energy Ministers Dr. Rudal Mounilal and Ernesto Queysa
00:05and Global Group Chief Executive Officer of Parenco, Amel Simondin,
00:10along with other executives from Parenco, took place on Thursday.
00:14Dr. Mounilal highlights the significance of the discussions between his ministry and Parenco.
00:20As we know, Parenco has become, in Trinidad and Tobago,
00:24the second largest producer of natural gas.
00:30They are involved in several very important projects in the energy sector,
00:36and we wanted to welcome the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Amel Simondin,
00:41and others visiting on a business trip.
00:45It was a great pleasure to meet, and we had a very good discussion with Parenco
00:50on their projects in Trinidad and Tobago, including those projects
00:54that they have assumed operations from Woodside.
01:00In terms of the former Woodside Energy projects, it's a recent acquisition which now sees Parenco
01:06in charge of the Greater Angostura Oil and Gas Assets, along with their production facilities.
01:12The talks also factored in the performance of existing operations in the Kashima, Amherstia,
01:18Flamboyant, and E-Motel, or Caffey gas fields, along with Parenco's plans for the onyx field
01:25located in the Teak Salmon and Pui area.
01:28The conversation surrounded efforts to boost efficiency, as well as collaborations which would assist
01:34in enhancing and sustaining this country's energy sector.
01:37The government has relayed its intentions to support Parenco in order to prolong the productive
01:44lifespan of mature oil fields, with the aim of creating more investment in the sector.
01:49But Dr. Munilal notes that it's a balancing act.
01:53We have made a commitment, of course, to assisting Parenco and other operators
01:59with the best investment framework that is possible.
02:03And, of course, we balance at all times the need to have a reasonable return for private investors
02:11and, of course, need to ensure that we collect optimal revenues for the government
02:19and the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago.
02:21Based on a release from the Energy Ministry, Parenco has stated that it remains committed
02:26to working closely with the Energy Ministry to ensure that collaborations are ongoing
02:31as current projects advance and new opportunities emerge.
