00:00Kemi Badenoch, you have sacked your shadow justice secretary today.
00:06Why now and what was the evidence that you uncovered?
00:10I sacked Robert Jenrick from the shadow cabinet and removed the whip because he wasn't just
00:16planning to leave, he was planning to torch the Conservative Party by putting out comments
00:24and allegations that would have been very, very bad.
00:26And once I discovered that, I had no other choice but to remove him from the party.
00:32You ve come out this morning and presumably wanting to appear strong in taking this action
00:39and getting ahead of him.
00:41But aren't you embarrassed that a very key member of your shadow cabinet was preparing
00:47to defect, well, presumably to reform?
00:49You didn t say the word reform in your message.
00:52It s very sad.
00:53It s very sad.
00:54What I m doing is building a strong team, a united team.
00:57We have a shared purpose, a shared sense of values and direction.
01:02And if people aren t on board with that, then they can t be in the team.
01:05But I think the country is sick of political psychodrama.
01:09We had it with the last government.
01:10We have it with this government.
01:11We need our politicians to be focused on public service, not on their personal ambition.
01:18And there is a press conference coming shortly from reform.
01:23Do you believe that Robert Jenrick will have joined reform by the end of today?
01:28It doesn t matter.
01:29Robert Jenrick is not my problem anymore.
01:31He s Nigel Farage s problem now.
01:34Thank you very much.
