43:49Here's the short version.
43:52My parents were both junior hockey coaches.
43:55And they were hit by a drunk driver when I was 12 years old.
44:02Mercifully for them, they died instantly.
44:05Mercifully for me, the St. Thomas scholarships existed.
44:11I didn't have anybody else to help me.
44:16Had a lot of memories.
44:17A love of hockey.
44:19And a huge hole in my heart.
44:22St. Thomas filled it with hope.
44:25The hope of a new family.
44:28Things weren't always easy.
44:30You know, they never are for anybody.
44:32But in hockey, I found what I was missing.
44:37First at my high school.
44:39Then later at college.
44:40And now here with the admirals.
44:42And I never looked back.
44:45Because I never had to.
44:46The family I craved.
44:51The family that I needed.
44:52That I still need today.
44:56Hockey gave it to me.
44:58And St. Thomas gave me hockey.
45:00So from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you all for being here tonight.
