00:00Israel is on high alert.
00:18Military readiness has been significantly stepped up amid rising regional tensions with Iran.
00:25Over the past few days, the Israel Defense Forces have quietly but deliberately adjusted their air defense posture.
00:34Iron dome batteries have been redeployed, covering key areas including Jerusalem and major urban centers.
00:42This is not a routine move.
00:45The preparations come at a time when Iran is facing internal unrest
00:49and the United States is signaling readiness for potential military action against Iranian targets.
00:56Israeli intelligence assessments suggest one key threshold.
01:01Iran is unlikely to strike Israel directly unless the United States launches a large-scale operation on Iranian soil.
01:09But Israel is not taking chances.
01:12In cities like Demona, public shelters have been opened as a precaution.
01:17Embassies around the world have been placed on high alert amid fears of Iranian-backed terror attacks or provocations.
01:25Israeli officials stress this is about readiness for defense and, if necessary, offense.
01:32These fears are rooted in recent history.
01:36In June 2025, Israel and Iran fought their most direct conflict to date, a 12-day war known as Operation Rising Lion.
01:46Iran launched more than 500 ballistic missiles and over 1,000 drones toward Israel.
01:53Israel's multi-layered air defense system, Iron Dome, David Sling and Arrow 2 and 3 intercepted most of them.
02:03Initially, interception rates stood at around 80 to 90 percent.
02:08But as the war dragged on, those numbers dropped to around 65 percent.
02:13That decline had consequences.
02:16Some missiles broke through, striking cities like Tel Aviv, Haifa and Beersheba.
02:22At least 24 people were killed.
02:25Hundreds were injured.
02:26And key sites including the Kyria military headquarters and Nevatim air base were damaged.
02:32Iran achieved these penetrations through specific tactics.
02:37First, saturation attacks.
02:39Older and slower missiles were fired first, designed to drain Israel's interceptors.
02:45Followed by more advanced missiles like Imad, Haj Qasem and Fatah-1.
02:51Second, target adaptation.
02:54Iran shifted from remote military bases to densely populated urban areas, overwhelming defense systems that prioritize strategic assets.
03:04And third, system limitations.
03:07Iron Dome is effective against short-range threats, but not against Iran's medium- and long-range ballistic missiles, which depend on far more expensive and limited aero interceptors.
03:19Despite these breaches, Israel's defenses prevented catastrophic damage, helped by US-led coalitions and preemptive strikes on Iranian launch sites.
03:30Looking ahead to 2026, a future war would pose serious challenges for both sides.
03:37Iran is struggling to rebuild.
03:40Israel destroyed a third of its missile launchers and key production facilities.
03:45Iran's pre-war arsenal, estimated at 2,000 to 3,000 missiles, was cut in half.
03:51Current production is limited, around 50 missiles per month.
03:56Israel, meanwhile, faces depleted interceptor stockpiles.
04:00Iron and THAAD systems are expensive, slow to replace and reliant on US support.
04:07The lesson from 2025 is clear.
04:10A prolonged war would favor neither side.
04:14Iran would struggle to sustain large barrages.
04:17Israel would face strained defenses, rising economic costs and greater risk to its cities.
04:24For now, both nations are rebuilding, watching and preparing.
04:29Because in this region, deterrence is fragile and escalation can come vast.
