00:00Oh
00:04This is how we do it in Havana
00:30This is the Peugeot E5008 a purely electric family SUV with up to seven seats
00:39And what else it's got to offer? We'll find out right now. Welcome to REV
00:52The 5008 is not a new car. It has been on the market for a little while
00:57And it is available
01:00Either as we have it right here as an e-version, but also as a hybrid version
01:11The e-car in its base version was not exactly really sporty it had some
01:18157 kilowatts 230 horsepower
01:22Which was okay for a car of that size, but it wouldn't really give you
01:28A nice sporty feeling
01:36And now Peugeot added a new version the dual motor which has an additional motor at the rear
01:43325 horsepower
01:45239 kilowatts and with that it will make the dash from zero to 100 kilometers an hour in around six seconds
01:53Which is way faster than the other versions
01:57The e5008 can be had with two different battery sizes either 73 or 97 kilowatt hours
02:09Unfortunately the big battery can only be ordered with the long-range version that has the
02:21230 horsepower electric engine at the front, but then you will have around
02:26668 kilometers of purely electric range, which is really good
02:31For our all-wheel driven version you only get the 73 kilowatt hour battery pack and then you will have a range of around
02:39467 kilometers
02:41You know how they say french cars are typically very comfortable
02:52But on the other hand they therefore lack
02:55Sportiness first things first the 5008 is a really comfortable car a family suv that will take you
03:03Anywhere at least within the maximum range on a very comfortable basis
03:09But then this version we have right here with the dual motors and the 325 horsepower
03:15is
03:16Sporty as well
03:17Of course you will not want to drive into curves too fast it's still an suv but the acceleration definitely is a blast
03:27As with many other electric vehicles charging from 20 to 80 percent using a fast charger takes around 30 minutes
03:38The interior of the e5008 is really appealing at least to me
03:42Everything looks quite futuristic you have
03:46Like these shortcuts that you can adjust those are touch screen operated by the way
03:52And then you have that huge central display that will give you the information of
03:58speed limit the speed you're driving and so on on the left side and everything else on the right side
04:04Apart from that typical Peugeot the small steering wheel
04:12I remember when I first saw that in I think it was a 308
04:18I wasn't really a fan of it. I thought why is the steering wheel so small
04:22But by the time it somewhat grew on me and I really like it by now
04:27This is a very different sensation while you're driving and I have to say
04:33I'm a friend of that
04:38What is not that good to me is
04:41That part right here. It's somewhat makes you feel
04:45Cramped in the interior. I don't know if it really was necessary. Don't get me wrong. It looks good
04:52But it also takes up some place
04:54Maybe the buttons could have been put somewhere down here
04:58But then on the other hand at the end of the day this is personal preference
05:02You have that nice illumination in the background which also shines down from below the infotainment screen
05:12And that makes it look like it's floating so it's really good looking
05:17The space in the back is ample as you would expect it from a car that is almost 4 meter 80 in length
05:27You have a lot of leg room left the seat in the front is set to my height
05:31And you have a lot of headroom left that despite the fact that the car has a panoramic glass roof
05:37The seats are also very comfortable you have adjustments for the climate back here
05:45And of course also usb sockets down there
05:49And some nice little nets to hold whatever you might want to put in there
05:53By the way the seat position can also be adjusted
05:57So you can in theory put them to the front to make more space for the people in the third row
06:05Let's put it to a comfortable position
06:08I think like that would be still okay and let's check out the third row
06:17As expected even though I put the seat
06:21Quite a bit to the front there is basically no leg room back here
06:27These seats are made for either rather short people or for children
06:34But for those it's absolutely okay they are even quite comfortable
06:39So basically you can say this car is not suited for a big group of friends but for a family
06:49With the rear seats up you have around 260 liters of cargo space
06:54If you fold them down you're left with around 750 liters
06:57And folding all rear seats down you have more than 1800 liters
07:02So a lot of space to transport anything you like
07:12The E5008 is based on the STLA medium platform from Stellantis
07:20And it basically is a bigger scaled version of the E3008
07:27Which you can also see if you look at the interior and the front
07:30It's basically the same car
07:33But it is bigger to the rear and that's why it offers up to three rows of seats
07:39And more than 16 centimeters in additional wheelbase
07:43Which you definitely feel if you have a seat in the second row
07:46The dual motor version of the E5008 has four different drive modes
07:57Eco, normal, sport and four wheel drive
08:01And depending on which one you choose
08:03You will have different levels of power coming to the wheels
08:07For example in Eco mode the car will only deliver 157 kilowatts 230 horsepower
08:14In normal mode it's 230 kilowatts
08:16And in sport and all wheel drive mode you will have the full 239 kilowatts
08:27What also changes are the wheels being driven depending on the mode
08:31In normal mode depending on your driving style the car will choose whether or not to add the rear motor
08:38All of that happens automatically as a driver you do not have any saying in that
08:48Sport and all wheel drive are basically the same modes
08:51The only difference is in all wheel drive you will have 50 50 power distribution between front and rear
08:58And in sport mode you have 60 40 in favor of the front wheels
09:08What I really like about the 5008 is the recuperation
09:12You can adjust it with the shifters back here behind the steering wheel
09:21Three different levels are available and in the strongest one
09:26You can move the car in one pedal drive because once you take your foot off the accelerator
09:31The car will decelerate or you would even have to say brake
09:36Quite a lot which is of course very useful in city driving and stop and go traffic
09:48Peugeot offers up to eight years
09:51160 000 kilometers of warranty on the new e5008 which is really good and that also includes the battery
10:01So if you plan to buy such a car you won't have to worry about anything everything is taken care of by Peugeot
10:07As it seems to become standard nowadays the e5008 is equipped with chat gpt
10:19So you can talk to your car like you would to a friend that knows a lot of things
10:25From time to time the answer might not be a hundred percent correct
10:30But that is true for both the ai and sometimes also that one friend
10:41The entry-level price for an e5008 is around 55 000 euros in germany the dual motor version
10:48However, is of course a little more pricey the launch edition can be had at a little more than 64 000 euros
10:55By the way, the dual motor setup can also be had for the smaller e3008 and then the price starts at just under 60 000 euros
11:09Despite its length the 5008 has a really small turning circle
11:14Which makes it very maneuverable especially in the city?
11:18I'm not sure whether this is also the case for the hybrid version
11:22Because usually the small turning circles result from the electric engines needing less space and less mechanical parts at the wheel
11:39Summing up my 5008 experience I have to say I enjoyed driving the car
11:45It is very comfortable but can also be sporty due to the new all-wheel driven version
11:51Of course it has its price, but it also has a lot of standard equipment
11:55So if you're looking for a family-friendly suv that takes you from a to b quite comfortably with a decent range and a very good look
12:03Then this might be worth considering
12:06The sporty design space and a variety of drivetrain options make the peugeot e5008 a very good road trip companion
12:14Things that aren't optimal though include the crap driver's seat the lack of physical buttons for the aircon and a somewhat inflated price tag
12:23I am comedian actor and gender rights activist
12:39Zaheer coming to you from old town bus depot
12:43Why do things ordinary? Well, we like to do things a little bit differently here in malawi
12:47I'm gonna take you on five different modes of transport ranked by price
12:52So hold on to your seat belt. It's gonna be a bumpy ride
12:57Malawi's road transport network carries 70% of internal freight and 99% of passenger traffic
13:04Lilongwe is built around several traffic choke points
13:07Which means there's a real need for many new roads that are constantly being built
13:11I know i'm giving those vibes, but we're not in india at number five
13:14We have the world famous tuk-tuk which is great for individual transport and perfect for a queer person like myself
13:20Because that means I can dress up however. I want for only 10 000 kwacha or five euros and 50 cents
13:28Tuk-tuks are a very popular method of transportation in malawi and are generally used in neighborhoods and for short commutes around town
13:36You can book one if you're in no particular rush
13:39And if you're willing to share the commute and split the fare then that's negotiated with the driver before the journey
13:47I like it. It's really cool. I mean except it's very noisy, so you can't really hear yourself
13:54It's very noisy, but I like it
13:55It's a different experience because if you're pub hopping and if you're going from one place to the other
14:00This is much more fun than a taxi
14:03And you can squeeze four people in here if you have to and even somebody in front it's even it's worth it
14:07I mean, it's so fun
14:12That was amazing
14:14Number four on our list was first introduced by an e-hailing service in johannesburg and people were up in arms
14:21Motorcycles but for just over two euros you can zip across town weaving in and out of traffic getting to your destination pretty fast
14:29Not unusual I hear you say well
14:34Just because you've hired a bike doesn't mean you're gonna be the only one on the bike
14:38I have seen four adults mount 125cc bike with a baby on mom's back
14:44They can carry anything from luggage to livestock as long as it's from point a to b
14:48But here's a pro tip get yourself a helmet and hold on tight
14:52Most passengers in malawi don't wear helmets especially since the bikes often carry multiple passengers
14:59But you want to stay safe, right?
15:01The third transport option in malawi might be just as risky, but on the upside it's green
15:08Malawians are the ultimate believers in pedal power and with that i give you the cabaza
15:13Just like their motorized cousins they can carry anything from wood to livestock and even charcoal as well as people
15:19For only just a euro think of it as using someone else's pedal power to get from point a to b without even breaking a sweat
15:28Cycling with a twist
15:30But weren't there some normal buses and taxis at the bus stop?
15:34Okay, let's be honest they only work because the average malarion is so small that you can fit about six people in here
15:50They complain and also i'm a little bit wider than your average malarion
15:54What to let my belly out now
15:58Well that might not have gone quite as expected for zaheer who isn't the most imposing of people
16:03But what's malawi's final option?
16:07You know how your parents used to say that they would walk about 10 kilometers to school each day?
16:11Well, if they're not malarion don't believe them because malarians walk everywhere all the time
16:18it's basically our national exercise and
16:21I gotta tell you if somebody says i'll see you in a couple hours chill relax have a fanta just ask our cameraman craig
16:29And oh, what would you look at the time?
16:31It's about time for me to go for my gig. I gotta put on a pound of makeup. So that's it for me
16:38Guess nothing beats free transport
16:40Well, welcome back to Cuba, especially to my yard. My name is Rolando. My friends and friends are known for Carburo
16:57My name is Rolando. All my friends and friends are known for Carburo
17:01I'm going to show you the car.
17:03I'm going to show you the car.
17:05I'm going to show you the car.
17:07I'm going to show you the car.
17:09It's a very unique car.
17:11It's a car V8.
17:13It's one of the most powerful car that has been made.
17:15It's a car original, a 283.
17:17It's been restored with many modern pieces.
17:19Modern pieces, of Chevrolet, that are made for this.
17:23It's not that it's of another type of car.
17:25I had to do this with my small hands.
17:29Like the whole car.
17:31The bar, the doors, the doors.
17:32Here the only thing that is original is the cap.
17:34It's not this piece, because this one I had to reconstruct.
17:37It's a lot of hard to maintain a car like this.
17:41It's a lot of time, a lot of dedication, a lot of love to maintain it.
17:45Now we're going to the workshop, which I'm going to show you how we're going to rellen the
17:51uines of the baston of the emergencia.
17:55Here we have my little workshop.
18:03Lily, Lily.
18:07You have to do everything a little.
18:08I'm my colleague of work.
18:09I work here and she listens to everything I do.
18:11What happens with the pieces in Cuba is that we don't have a acquisition to acquire them.
18:14It's a lot of fun because there are pieces of repuests here in Cuba
18:20for these old cars.
18:21Many people have the suerte that they can find them in the United States,
18:24with the families that they send.
18:25I do it like I do, that 90% of the things I do with my hands.
18:28In my table, like for example, now,
18:30the uines of the baston of the emergencia,
18:32they have to be exhausted and I have to rellen them
18:34because there is no place to buy the repuests for that.
18:44If the piece is finished, the best would be to put it in the car and try it in the car.
18:56One thing is in the hand and the other thing is working in the car.
18:58I have to treat them with a lot of affection,
19:04with the pieces that they have for years.
19:08This picture has been 24 years old.
19:12The car has been with my father, my daughter, my sister.
19:15This little girl that is here is the beauty that I have on the side,
19:19she has 26 years old.
19:21So the car has been with me for a few years.
19:23Exactly, the car has been 32 years old.
19:25I have a daughter, a son and another girl that is the car.
19:49After being at the camp weill have for a couple more days.
20:01We have to make his vehicle backpack.
20:02This vehicle costs about 6較 fullico de almost 120ml.
20:06We have to back up all the ships from average.
20:08The cars from average is 25 pesos per kilogram.
20:11I bought it for 32 years, at the beginning it was for the family,
20:41to go to the beach, to go to the beach, to go to the beach.
20:44Then I started a business,
20:46with weddings, a movie, a commercial, a video clip.
20:51So I spent many years,
20:52until about 10 years,
20:54I started the tourism flow in Cuba,
20:56and I started working as taxista.
20:58My job consists of teaching the tourist city that wants to know it,
21:02and that comes in a car or a car,
21:05or an almond drone, as they say.
21:07For me it's not a almond drone, for me it's a beauty.
21:09It's part of my life.
21:10It's something that forms part of my body,
21:13of my idiosincrasia.
21:14Look, there's a car in the car,
21:15the car in the car.
21:17It's not the Chevrolet 55, or the combustible,
21:20it's the car in the car.
21:22I mean, my daughter is a doctor, my wife is ingenier,
21:28The car is something from the family.
21:35When the car has a problem, it's broken, everyone is worried about what happened, what happened, what happened, what happened, what happened.
21:42It always has the same, from one way or from the other.
21:45At this moment, it's the main support of the house.
21:48My daughter is doctor, my wife is engineer, but everything is kept on the car.
21:58If you didn't know how long, the car was deteriorated in the house.
22:03That's why we lost so many cars, because there were no pieces of repuesto.
22:06Many people didn't know how to do things or how to solve the problems.
22:10The car was deteriorated in a way that many people lost.
22:13In reality, I'm a industrial mechanic, but a mechanic who doesn't know how to do their own pieces,
22:19for me, it's an assembler, not a mechanic.
22:28What happened to you?
22:32Conducir por la Habana es una cosa bella, elegante.
22:35A mí me encanta mi Habana.
25:37porque conoce a personas maravillosas.
25:39Y ese encuentro entre distintas culturas es muy bonito.
25:43Uno aprende un poco de allá, yo aprende un poco de aquí.
25:47Y siempre se llevan una buena opinión.
25:53And more automotive tales, next time on REV.
