00:00Scrolling so much on your phone that your thumbs start to hurt?
00:04Well, doom scrolling happens fast, but locking your wrists in the same position
00:08or holding your phone up for ages can have painful consequences.
00:12There's even a name for it, texting thumb. That refers to a range of phone-related pains
00:17like stiffness, throbbing, and a clicking sensation when you bend your finger,
00:22which can even lead to conditions like arthritis. But there are a few things you can do about it.
00:27Obviously, limit your phone time and take breaks in between scrolling.
00:31But you could also change the grip on your phone and switch hands or fingers to type.
00:36And there are some stretches that can help.
00:38Basically, maintain the flexibility of the hands and wrists.
00:40So being able to flex and extend at the wrist and then at each of the digits.
00:45And then for the thumb motion, it's really coming around in circunduction motion.
00:49But when the pain just won't go away and are strong every time you use your phone,
00:54you really should go see a doctor.
