00:00But why might Europe and Greenland have to actually compromise with Donald Trump right now?
00:06Exactly, Leanne. Maybe we've been seeing other sides here of the story
00:09because as this U.S. debate over Greenland military action or purchase or otherwise,
00:15there's actually been some European capitals that may be quietly, let's say,
00:19recalibrating their approach towards the whole situation.
00:23So analysts actually say that a practical reality may actually be forced,
00:28both sides may be forced to actually see a practical reality towards a compromise.
00:33So Europe, particularly Denmark and Greenland's government,
00:37they don't want to hand over the control of Greenland. We know this.
00:40At the same time, they do have to balance the stance that they do need to keep some type of ties.
00:45With Washington, of course, they have an alliance.
00:47So this means finding a way to reassure the U.S. on security.
00:52So rather than just outright rejecting this Trump rhetoric, European leaders,
00:56it may actually look for diplomatic solutions, as they always do.
01:01So they might beef up cooperation on defense, as we just heard,
01:05Arctic research, economic partnerships, and overall revamp their Arctic strategy
01:10that I think hasn't been visited in a really long time.
01:13So in other words, this would mean keeping both sides satisfied.
01:16This could mean something meeting in the middle for both sides.
01:20Thanks, Julian.
