00:00Denmark and Greenland warn of fundamental disagreement after White House talks on the
00:05U.S. plan to seize or acquire the Danish Kingdom's territory.
00:11Germany's Vice-Chancellor Lars Klingbeil has warned that Europe's ties with the United States
00:16are disintegrating. Japan and the Philippines have signed a new defense agreement allowing
00:23tax-free sharing of critical supplies during joint training in a bid to counter growing
00:28threats from China. A meeting between the foreign ministers of Denmark and Greenland with U.S.
00:34Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Wednesday produced no resolution
00:40to the escalating tensions surrounding Donald Trump's plan to seize or acquire the Danish
00:46Kingdom's territory. While the talks failed to persuade the Trump administration to back down
00:53from its bellicose rhetoric, leaders from Denmark and Greenland say they don't agree with
00:58Trump on the U.S. controlling the island, but are ready to work toward common ground.
01:05Ideas that would not respect territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Denmark and the right of
01:12self-determination of the Greenlandic people are of course totally unacceptable.
01:17It's very important to say it again that how important it is from our side to strengthen
01:28our cooperation with the United States, but that doesn't mean that we want to be owned by
01:34the United States. But as allies, how we can strengthen our cooperation, it's all our interest.
01:41Meanwhile, Denmark and Sweden, alongside France and Germany, announced on Wednesday the deployment
01:48of soldiers and military exercises to Greenland amid growing instability in an effort to ensure
01:55the security of the Arctic. U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed acquiring the sparsely
02:01populated territory to be vital to U.S. national security, raising concerns for NATO's future.
02:11Germany's vice chancellor, Lars Klingbeil, has warned that Europe's ties with the United States
02:18are disintegrating. Klingbeil pointed to what he called a historic period of upheaval under
02:24U.S. President Donald Trump's administration. He cited several reasons why he came to his conclusion,
02:31including Washington's recent raid on Caracas in which it captured Venezuela's Nicolas Maduro.
02:36I told you we're going to do a lot of things. He also cited Trump's threats to take control of
02:41Greenland, his administration's comments in its national security strategy, claiming that Europe
02:46was facing, quote, civilizational erasure and warned for a decay in the shared interest in free trade and
02:52open markets. The vice chancellor said he had become even more convinced in recent days.
02:59Just this week, Klingbeil visited Washington with Germany's foreign minister, Johann Wadervull.
03:06Japan and the Philippines have signed a defense agreement allowing tax-free sharing of supplies
03:14during joint training aimed at strengthening deterrence against China. Japan's foreign minister,
03:20Toshimitsu Motegi, signed the pact with Philippine Foreign Secretary Teresa Lazaro in Manila on Thursday.
03:27Japan's top diplomat also announced at the signing ceremony that Tokyo will be beefing up security and
03:33economic development assistance to the Philippines. The new defense deal, which still awaits ratification
03:39by Japanese lawmakers, is the latest forged by Tokyo and Manila to deepen their security alliance.
03:46It'll allow tax-free provision of ammunition, fuel, food, and other necessities when their forces
03:52stage joint training exercises. It comes amid increased tensions with China after Japan's Prime Minister
03:59Sanai Takayashi said Tokyo would militarily intervene if Beijing made a move on Taiwan.
04:05The Philippines and Japan have also had their own separate territorial conflicts with Beijing in the
04:11East and South China Seas, threatening to draw in the U.S., a treaty ally of both nations.
04:17Japanese and Filipino officials say the new agreement will also help enhance disaster response efforts,
04:23as well as taking part in UN peacekeeping missions.
04:30China's trade surplus surged to a record of almost 1.2 trillion dollars, around 1.031 trillion euros last
04:39year, the government said Wednesday, as exports to other countries made up for slowing shipments to
04:44the United States. Beijing's exports rose 5.5 percent in 2025 to 3.77 trillion dollars,
04:53around 3.6 trillion euros, but imports for the year were flat at 2.58 trillion dollars.
05:02According to customs data, the surplus was boosted by trade gains in December, with exports climbing 6.6
05:09percent from the year before, better than economic estimates. Since U.S. President Donald Trump took office
05:17and intensified its trade rift with the world's second-largest economy, China's exports to the U.S.
05:23have drastically decreased, but sales to other markets, including Europe, have more than made up
05:30for this reduction. On Monday, the European Union signaled a de-escalation in its EV trade dispute with
05:38China by issuing new guidelines allowing Chinese electric vehicle makers to offer minimum prices
05:45instead of facing steep anti-subsidy tariffs. Analysts expect exports to continue supporting
05:53China's economy in China's economy this year, despite trade friction and geopolitical tensions.
06:03The United States has said it is suspending the processing of immigrant visas from 75 countries,
06:09the latest move by President Donald Trump against foreigners seeking to come to America.
06:14A State Department spokesperson said that, quote, the Trump administration is bringing an end to the
06:21abuse of America's immigration system by those who would extract wealth from the American people.
06:27The State Department did not immediately release a full list of countries. However, a White House
06:33spokesperson mentioned Somalia, Russia, Iran, as well as Brazil, Egypt and Thailand. The latest move
06:40does not affect tourists, business or other visas, including for football fans seeking to visit this
06:46year's World Cup, although the Trump administration has voted to vet all African social media histories.
06:57The United States has said it is moving into the next phase of the U.S. brokered ceasefire plan.
07:03In a social media post on X, U.S. President Donald Trump's envoy, Steve Witkoff,
07:09said the second phase involves disarming Hamas, rebuilding the war-ravaged territory,
07:14and the establishment of a technocratic government. This would consist of Palestinian experts that will
07:20administer daily affairs in Gaza under American supervision. However, Witkoff did not offer any
07:26details about who would serve on the new transitional Palestinian administration that would govern Gaza.
07:32The ceasefire reached under Trump's 20-point plan took effect in October. Under the first phase of
07:40the deal, Hamas released all but one hostage it was holding in exchange for hundreds of Palestinians who
07:45were held in Israeli prisons.
07:51Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Timoshenko was charged for allegedly offering bribes to members of
07:57the Ukrainian parliament. On Tuesday, the country's anti-corruption bodies reportedly raided the offices
08:03of the Fatherland Party, which is led by Timoshenko. According to the investigation, several Ukrainian
08:10MPs received benefits for passing decisions on draft laws in parliament in December. The anti-corruption
08:17bodies released a video that includes recordings of the alleged arrangements. The person's face in the
08:22video is blurred, but Timoshenko can easily be identified by her signature hairstyle. The former
08:28Prime Minister confirmed the news of the raid on Wednesday morning, but rejected all allegations against her.
08:38The Louvre Museum has started raising admission for most non-European visitors by 45 percent, as it tries to
08:45shore up finances after repeated strikes and chronic overcrowding. The change affects visitors for most non-European visitors,
08:50including the United States, which typically accounts for most of the Louvre's foreign tourists.
08:58The price hike from €22 to €32 is part of a national differentiated pricing policy announced last
09:05year that's coming into force across major cultural sites, including the Versailles Palace and the Paris
09:11Opera, among others. Guided groups will pay €28, with tourists capped at 20 people to maintain the
09:18quality of the visit, the museum said. French worker unions have denounced the Louvre ticketing change,
09:25saying it undermines the universal mission of the world's most visited museum. The CGT culture union
09:30has denounced the policy, arguing it turns access to culture into a commercial product and creates unequal
09:37access to national heritage.
09:51The water in the early stages of the baths was apparently not very clean. It's not surprising because
10:10the water was supplied by a water lifting machine, so you must imagine there was probably a slave running
10:15in a kind of hamster wheel, lifting up water buckets and supplying the baths with water.
10:32Well, the building of an aqueduct is something very expensive, even at that time, and you can compare
10:39it compared to building an airport in modern times. In Roman time, in early imperial time, the society was
10:47getting more richer and each city wanted to have an aqueduct.
11:01You must imagine that the Aqueduct of Pompeii was probably fed from the so-called Aqua Augusta,
11:07and that's a giant aqueduct, about 120 kilometers long, running from the Apennines all the way to the
11:15Bay of Mycénum, west of Napoli, and it supplied something like 10 cities with water, with branches
11:22running from that central aqueduct.
11:37Because of theikum- constantly moving around as long as the water falls flowing through the water.
11:44It stands to be perfect for the water to the water.
11:45It is a small piece of a small piece of water.
11:47It is a large piece of water which is still being revisited for the water.
11:50But if I have water-xinged water, let me listen to the water.
11:51In the name of the pool, I can give you an easyiciais tape.
11:53Let's break up the water or a half piece of water that I can add to your water.
11:55Well, here are the way the water-xing in the water.
11:57So I can cut that out.
11:59I can be a little bit less than the water Excuse me.
12:01Here are the water-eyed ones here.
12:02I can use a little bit more than the water on my ne.
