00:02Yeah, man, and one of the things he talked about with his quarterback
00:05and C.J. Stroud, they seem to – talking about these are things
00:10that we're going to – he's going to clean up.
00:14He's going to clean up.
00:16He's going to – he is going to get correct, get corrected.
00:22These are things he sounded like he is confident in getting corrected.
00:25And that is, I think, a question to the folks.
00:31713-572-4610, YouTube and Twitch, jump in on this.
00:37Listen, if you're in la-la land and you believe that C.J. Stroud had a –
00:42oh, he had a good game.
00:43He just turned the ball over a couple of times.
00:45And maybe you sit this one out or whatever, or whatever you do.
00:50But C.J. Stroud had a bad game.
00:52And C.J. Stroud can't play that way for this team to get where they want to get to.
00:59I don't care about the stats of three times.
01:02He's turned the ball over three times, and they've won three of the times.
01:05This is just not something that is sustainable.
01:08He's got to play better.
01:09He knows it.
01:10I'm sure we'll hear from him coming up later on in the hour.
01:12We just heard his head coach.
01:14He knows it.
01:14We all know it unless you're in a fantasy land.
01:17My question to you, five fumbles, two of them lost, one really bad interception,
01:24missed some open receivers, in particular Nico Collins towards the end of the half.
01:29I'm not saying he was.
01:31I'm not in the guy's body.
01:33Clint, he appeared to look out of sorts.
01:37Oh, dare I say?
01:38It looks like his confidence is dropped from the C.J. Stroud we have normally seen.
01:45Do you believe these are problems, and I've said this to listeners that we're talking to,
01:50that's a one-off and that, all right, these are things like they're saying can be cleaned up against the Patriots,
01:56or do you sense and see this as, hmm, this isn't just one that you can just clean up in a week?
02:07Yeah, I think it depends on how you view those mistakes, how you view, and to each their own,
02:16how you view what you watched.
02:19If you're talking about dropping snaps and throwing interceptions, then, yeah, I can see where that can be viewed as,
02:28hey, man, I don't expect C.J. Stroud to do that throughout the playoffs.
02:33Like, that's just a one-off, right?
02:35And that is precisely why every time that I talk about C.J. Stroud in reaction to what we watched on Monday night,
02:43I've made the point is it's the big picture, it's the happy feet, it's the overwhelmed, it's the panic.
02:51You know, it's not just one play in a vacuum that causes this uproar, right?
02:57It's the whole thing.
02:57That itself, can the drop snaps be fixed?
03:01Absolutely.
03:02Can the interceptions be fixed?
03:04Absolutely.
03:05You go, again, I'll disagree with D'Amico Rines.
03:10As a quarterback, if I were C.J., it wouldn't be up to anybody else.
03:15I would be out there 10 minutes before picking.
03:18I'd be working my ball, my pocket movement with good ball security, just reinforcing it.
03:24Not in a panic mode, just in response to what just happened.
03:27You know, I would be conscious of and have conversations about, hey, man, you know,
03:33in the decision-making process, don't try to be right, man.
03:36Just get through.
03:37Trust your instincts.
03:37Get through the progression.
03:38Get the ball out or take off running.
03:40Don't panic.
03:41I would consciously make an effort.
03:43So it would be a little different week for me if I were C.J. Stroud.
03:48But, yeah, I think for me, I think it just depends on, there's a lot of,
03:53I think where I differ from most people that I hear talking about what they watched on Monday night
03:59is most people look at it through a box score.
04:06And not literally, but by the way that they're wrapping their head around it, right,
04:10is interception, two fumbles that were lost, a bunch of drop snaps.
04:17Oh, man, ain't going to happen again, right?
04:19I'm not looking at it through the lens of a stat line or a box score.
04:23I'm looking at it through the lens of what I watched and what I know about quarterback play
04:30and what I feel like is going through.
04:33The game was moving really, really, really fast for C.J. Stroud on Monday night,
04:39which is not a good thing, right?
04:41And I believe that a good chunk of it has to do with when they show pressure looks
04:47or when they show foreign looks that you're not completely aware of,
04:51whether that's in the front or the secondary,
04:53I don't think C.J. Stroud trusts himself or the system
04:56to take care of the quarterback to make plays.
05:01Like, I think there is an insecurity there with the system and his experience in this system
05:11and kind of the culmination of the entire year.
05:13Does the concussion against Denver probably – yep, probably comes into play a little bit as well.
05:17But with all that said, Ron, I think there's a bigger problem that isn't about an interception or a fumble.
05:24I think it causes the interception and the fumbles, if we're being honest.
05:28I think it's the cause, the root of all of those issues, and that cannot be fixed overnight.
05:34It can't be fixed without C.J. Stroud.
05:36You're not going to fix it in practice.
05:38You think about it.
05:40You work on things throughout the week, and then you go in the game,
05:42and you hope early on you get some momentum.
05:45You see things clearly.
05:46Things slow down for you.
05:47You trust that offensive line.
05:49You trust the system.
05:50And then, maybe after a game of having some success and feeling good about it,
05:55you can get it out of your system.
05:57But it's not about just eliminating this or that.
06:00It's about what's going on in the head and in the heart of C.J. Stroud.
06:06Text line coming through, as I said, C.J. Stroud, as we heard from D'Amico,
06:10believes these – clean-up has been the term they've used.
06:14Nick Casario used that same term, clean-up.
06:17And what you've watched from him, his game – I mean, like, we could take it back.
06:25He's got five turnovers in the last three games.
06:28Five turnovers.
06:29He's got an interception against the Chargers that looks just as bad
06:32as the one he threw in the playoff game against the Steelers.
06:36You and I both know you're going to turn the ball three times,
06:39and you feel comfortable that your team's going to win.
06:41I know this defense is amazing.
06:43But they need him to not do that.
06:48Do you sense and look at this and think this is a one-off,
06:50or you think this is something that isn't just something you clean up in a week?
06:56A couple of texts coming in.
06:58How can they fix Stroud's head?
07:00He's playing scared.
07:01I think it's mental.
07:02No, young fella, y'all are whack.
07:05Y'all have a whack-ass agenda.
07:07Let's praise the defense and ignore the fact that D'Amico has young blood in handcuffs.
07:12We've praised the defense, okay, handcuffs, whatever.
07:16Again, if you think he's in handcuffs,
07:17do you think this is something that could be cleaned up?
07:20However you want to, in your mind, explain it.
07:23Do you think this is going to be cleaned up?
07:26I, I, listen, as you said, interceptions, that, that happened.
07:31Right?
07:31It was a bad decision.
07:32I would hope he doesn't make that type of decision like he made in the red zone.
07:36That happened.
07:37He got stripped when he was trying to throw the ball to an open guy down the field.
07:41That happened.
07:42No, the other, the strip sack, that happened.
07:47I hope his confidence is fixable.
07:50I don't know for sure.
07:52I'm not in his head, but I'm going to do just like all of you are doing,
07:55whether you believe that it is fixable or you don't.
08:00Based off what I'm seeing, it looks like he is lacking confidence.
08:04At least lacking confidence to an extent of what we've seen when he's been ultra confident.
08:11Can you fix that in a week?
08:14Like that, like, yeah, that, the snap, I bet him and Andrews get that cleaned up.
08:20That's just a, that's a miscommunication.
08:22There was, there was nothing wrong with the snaps.
08:27I mean, that, that, that, that, that's, that's one of the, one of the things that, that, that is.
08:31Oh, well, I'll just say the one.
08:32I know you didn't mean it, but I mean, well, well, one looked like he slapped, he snapped it early.
08:36Right?
08:36Oh, yeah, yeah.
08:37There was, I just said, there was some, there's some miscommunication on the snaps.
08:42That, that part can get fixed.
08:44But, but just the, like, you guys, you, you guys know it, whether it's, you know, with, with it, with your job, with you trying to pick up ladies, whatever.
08:56When you lack confidence, like, that's a, that's a harder thing to, to pick up and to, and to, to, to, to fix in a short period of time.
09:06That, that's the part to me that I, that I, that's why I said, when he speaks here in a little bit, I want to at least, at least, hell, fake that thing.
09:15I want to at least feel or hear that he has some confidence.
09:19He was walking around there, and I'll say it again, you may have a different feel, and that is okay.
09:25But my thinking was, boy, they've got to maintain this lead.
09:28But, because if he, if they get down, this, that, I'm not seeing the same dude that threw the pick against the Bengals, the bad interception, trying to get to Tankdale a couple of years to the Bengals, and then went down.
09:43He said, give me the damn ball.
09:44Hell, I'm going to, I'm going to, I'm going to make Noah, Noah Brown a star today.
09:47That's right.
09:48And I'm going to take it and go right back down.
09:49I'm not seeing that guy.
09:51I'm not seeing the guy a couple of years ago that took the ball against Tampa.
09:55And no matter what, what time was down there in the game.
09:59It's not easy.
10:00I'm not seeing that.
10:01I'm not seeing that level of confidence from him.
10:05And I hope that can get fixed.
10:09I hope that can get fixed.
10:11And then, if it can't, at the very least, you just can't do things to kill the team.
10:16Yeah, I mean, this is not, I mean, look, it's, what happens is, is you can call it handcuffs if you want.
10:23I would probably happen to agree with the texture.
10:26Oh, yeah.
10:27Big picture.
10:28That might be, that might be a part of the confidence.
10:29But I, I don't, I don't think it has a place in this conversation.
10:33The reality of it is you're in the second round of the playoffs.
10:35And you've been tasked with, with leading and executing efficiently this offense.
10:42And if you're not comfortable in the offense for one reason or another, whether it's because you're not at this point mentally there with this offense, you don't know the offense yet.
10:55Maybe you're incapable.
10:56Maybe the offense isn't a good fit.
10:59Maybe the coaching isn't effective.
11:01I don't know what the reason is.
11:02But the reality of it is, is that, you know, there's a, there is a, a panic.
11:08There is an overwhelm there.
11:10And it's, it's, it's, it's, it's when certain looks are presented.
11:17Right.
11:17Certain, when certain looks are presented up front, it's, it's the clock gets real sped up.
11:21And quarterbacks are judged in those moments of, hey, figure it out, keep calm and collected, go make plays.
11:29And it is a, it is a, oh crap.
11:34What's going on?
11:35Am I protected?
11:36Do I know what's going on?
11:39That, that's what it appears for whatever reason.
11:42There's no agenda to, to, to go after anybody.
11:45That's, that's plum ass.
11:46It's childish.
11:46Your agenda is that you want the Texans to win.
11:49That's true.
11:50Yeah.
11:51I want the quarterback to play well.
11:52I want the quarterback to stay cool, calm and collected under pressure.
11:55I mean, here's the thing.
11:56This may have been a week where CJ Stroud had to go through this to, to get confident and to get comfortable and to gain the necessary trust.
12:06So that moving forward, he gets it.
12:09He turns on the film.
12:10Now he's going to see, Hey man, there's no reason for me to be uptight here and get these happy feet and panic here.
