00:00we're back here we go again
00:15so what's on the to-do list this year well i think we're going to be spending a lot of time
00:27in the keys working on the hotel project yeah i've got to get back home to canada to do some
00:32work on the cottage before that falls down and we did say we were going to do some upgrades here
00:38at cmc yeah there's a lot of maintenance and some updates to do i also have a ton of home shows that
00:43i have to be at this year i know i saw your schedule you're gone almost every weekend
00:47and i'll still be back and forth with design clients and there is the matter of the huge
00:53development in the bahamas so we've got the opportunity to buy another hotel expand cerule
01:01mar and acquire another 600 acres this is the next decade this is something we leave behind
01:06not just for our kids but for everybody on the island i want this
01:10we partnered on a hotel in the florida keys called pines and palms you mean we're not going to pack
01:25the kids up and move down here and just close it down and go for it it should be easier it's half the
01:33size of surreal it's going to be fun to watch one storm and this whole unit is going to just fall
01:38down did you hear the thunder too i did hear the thunder that's how i feel about this at some point
01:45we're going to get active flooding in it there's going to be four feet of water in this the steel is
01:49disintegrated things you want to hear when you're 40 feet off the ground
01:53oh my god this is not a remodel no see that's not a good sound in a beam it's that here we go again
02:06moment
02:12there's a lot to do there's a lot to do it's exciting i can't tell if that's your exciting
02:17face or your scared face i'm excited but i'm also hungry
02:31the family cottage for me it's pretty nostalgic isn't this all going like backslash gone hardware
02:38gone drapery gone at this point we've done a lot of moving backwards we're going to need a new vision
02:43board it's a bit of a mess and quit this is the last time i'm doing this this is something that
02:53we may not even see it come to fruition in our lifetime does that worry you or excite you a little
03:02bit of both something like this could be the rest of our lives but if you're not scared about
03:09something and this could break us historically this is the time you get a little grumpy but
03:15look at us now look at us now i still think we should do it you've always said we've only got one
03:20shot
03:33can you like that no okay well that's how we're opening the show
03:38i kept saying it was going to be a quiet year and then i left the editing function of my calendar
03:48open uh and i'm not sure what happened
03:56it's been six years of operating cyril lamar we've stabilized the business and
04:00i think now it's it's time to expand the hotel which means more places for people to stay maybe
04:08some residential which means you know bringing more people means we need more entertainment as
04:13well so it's the local bars and restaurants there's a lot we could grow it a little bit or we could
04:20grow it a lot
04:20who's water bottle was this linky grab a towel that's like a clown car come on here jojo if you
04:32want to hop down first just leave your shoes here i can pass you the water too i'm gonna actually get
04:37down i don't want you to hold my arm i'll just put you over my shoulder i'll bring you ready no she's fine
04:43buying and renovating cyril lamar in the bahamas has not just been all about making money all right
04:55you guys good it's been great to watch the local economy flourish other businesses being started bars
05:00and restaurants on the local side and if we move forward you know there's there's more benefits in
05:07bringing kind of everyone along for the ride it's that opportunity to do something more that i'm
05:13always searching for do something amazing nobody's going to show up and do it for you no
05:34what did we find is coming to us with something what is it q octopus or star looks like a spider
05:39starfish oh cool this is stuff i missed we had the big boat anchored out we had the tender we would
05:44just go around and explore places with the kids i know you used to say you were just born to be an
05:48explorer you loved it maybe we should just focus more on exploration relaxing and traveling that's how
05:57we find yeah how are we going to pay for that you know we could look at do we know more of this even
06:04for the hotel if this is what this is the stuff that other people want to do the unexplored this is
06:09the stuff the guests love these are the experiences that we have to provide
06:17one of the things that attracted us to andross in the first place was the abundance of nature here and
06:22the blue holes which are fishers in the rocks in the cave system are part of that there's a walking
06:27trail across from the hotel that goes to four or five really interesting blue holes you can dive in
06:33them you can swim in them spend the day exploring the decks and the walkways to the blue holes are
06:39definitely showing their age they're starting to rot and fall apart our plan is to fix up these walkways
06:44and decks and put in a bit of a hoist to get scuba gear up and down so that everybody can enjoy these holes
06:52walking trails to the blue holes are not conducive or large enough or smooth enough for any type of
06:59machinery so every piece of lumber that goes in we have to haul i mean i'm already sweating and i'm
07:05getting older but still kicking
07:07what you doing little buddy it's great to have the kids here to help you go get some shoes why
07:23don't you grab some more material on the way yeah i'll come back after lunch no you come back before
07:28lunch with some water some ice i'll go grab lunch and then i'll come back i'll get this all right
07:44i'm so happy we could actually get in and that there were no guests in here today so we could walk
07:48through well some of the stuff we've been discussing via via just chatting back and forth on phone right
07:53we have partnered on a hotel in florida keys called pines and palms it is a boutique hotel
08:03each of the units on the property at pines and palms is unique they were acquired at different
08:09times as the property size grew and each one of them has a very different footprint mike is a
08:15contractor and developer this is actually our first time together to walk through one of the townhouses
08:20unit 26 to see how everything will actually come to be so we're showing this obviously in the drawings
08:26not sure why it's here i feel like maybe because the duct work that runs through here the ac drop here
08:32which it could be dropped down for that but we could maybe do an exploratory hole okay and get a feel
08:37for maybe what's above it for pines and palms i'm involved in the design both with respect to interiors
08:44but also exteriors you're you're kind of managing the construction team everything it should be easier
08:51it's half the size of surreal it's gonna be fun to watch it should be easier welcome to the 80s
09:03there is a lot of wasted space the tubs around in particular is cumbersome and we have a little bit
09:10of an issue with the sink and the toilet placement i don't know who thought this was convenient but i
09:17think some of my kids would think it's hilarious pines and palms is really in need of a refresh it has
09:30been family owned and operated for decades so projects have been done a little bit piecemeal nothing matches
09:37nothing is consistent throughout the property so really the goal here is yes to give it a fresh
09:42new take on what it means to be sort of a beautiful southern island property but also to put some
09:49i think amenities and structure in place so that it does run a little bit more efficiently so we kept
09:57these beautiful sort of ocean colors we did a beautiful blue we did a green we have some coral coming
10:03into play as well you really never want a hotel too trendy because before you know it you're redoing
10:15it and that costs a lot of money we've been working on these plans for quite a while now and it goes
10:20beyond just the normal footprint or furniture plans this is more of an overall redesign of the brand
10:26everything down to colors and logos i think when we present it i hope they're ready to
10:32absorb it all take it all in and then we need the feedback so we can make sure that we are going
10:36to deliver exactly what they want
10:53can we make a deal yes when we get this deck rebuilt we just jump that's the deal yeah that's
10:58the deal i can't say that i've ever seen lawrence in the water certainly not jumping off of the deck
11:06into the blue hole i try as long as we ain't doing it naked no no no no no no we're fully clothed we
11:12have to try it out for the guests yeah for the sake of the guests and so then all right deal
11:21lawrence worked for us at the hotel for a while and whenever i'm back down you know i'll hire him to help
11:26with with different jobs so he's uh he's he's quite a character boy i tell you thanks i do for my
11:32country this is good sweating it out with the oldies here
11:45there we go that was a good little run
11:46first of all i want you to know i believe in you know you do yeah i believe in you
11:56you got faith okay you should you should let me see let me see so you'll describe it right yeah
12:00we have to cut around here measure this first one of the best things about quentin is that obviously
12:08i trust him i have trained him i have given him everything that you know i i think is in my head
12:14so i think you learned this from watching us right me and your dad right no no definitely not
12:19you two i learned some bad habits the stairs from the deck at the eldorado blue hole are
12:27partially gone so getting in and out is a challenge for for most people but getting out
12:34with scuba gear on your back is impossible we have to replace these things they're dangerous
12:39uh they're just yeah they're done we got to pull these bolts out we got to get these stringers up
12:45but i need to keep this in one piece because we got to use it as a template right getting the stairs
12:51out of the blue hole is a is a a bit of a feat here we have to disassemble the stairs we've got
12:57the rope around the stringers and you know i've loosened the bolt so that we can pull the stringers out of
13:04the hole why don't we pop the boards off i can just stand on the edge of this stringer otherwise
13:09it's gonna be a million pounds we try that let me get down there on the rock you got a team of experts
13:16up here watching whoa whoa welcome get on the rock what's happening on the rock give me oh did that come
13:23out yeah get on the rock stringer is gone yeah q this is not attached at all so stay off of there
13:30you want to just come step on the rock so we can knock these last two off because this isn't nothing's
13:35holding us anymore q
13:42q's gone for a bit of a swim which is actually a great example of why we need the stairs there you go
14:04there are four partners on this project nick katie chad and rainy what's going to be really important
14:19in my opinion is when some of the bigger things are happening bigger deliveries on site through the
14:25demolition and then we look at where we're positioning guests on property during that time speaking with
14:31the partners it takes me back in time to when we were first starting through lamar uh the difference
14:36i think perhaps for us was when we acquired through lamar it was closed it had been uninhabited for
14:43almost a decade pines and palms they purchased an existing property that was already open and
14:49operational so they had to jump right in and it was sort of trial by fire i think that we've been
14:55really thoughtful on um how we phased the project we're working in one area the resort is completely
15:01open uh in the entire like separate areas and it won't really will not impact the guests hopefully
15:09i think he's unrealistic here i think the importance of a guest experience needs to be
15:16looked at on all accounts and also the ability for the construction team to do their work efficiently
15:23it's going to impact the guests at some point there are quite a few people involved in this project
15:29obviously there are six of us as partners but then we also have the general contractor the landscape
15:34architect the architect all of the trades and sub trades so i just want to make sure that we are
15:40having open and honest discussions from day one about our goals for this project and setting very realistic
15:47timelines when it comes to the stringers i'm going to cut those we're going to figure out how to get
15:58them down into place secure them we're going to figure out how to get all the steps on down to the
16:03water super dave i can do that you're going to do it super dave can handle that part i'll do that it's
16:07going to be challenging because there's nowhere to stand just let me do it oh just let you do it you
16:11don't mean you don't want daddy hold you anymore no because you'll push me these are long heavy and
16:16you need a lot of leverage yeah this is this is fun
16:23all right it's not gonna fall you okay buddy yes lincoln and quentin helping me on site build things
16:29is a lot of fun as a dad it's just great to spend time with your sons and kind of watch them grow
16:33you know the dream is eventually i'll just be sitting in a chair watching this work happen dude
16:45you had one job we still have to build some benches and railings and a lift for scuba gear but
16:51we're making good progress
16:57sarah's over in florida pines and palms working away in the keys
17:00uh so it's it's a little different normally we're in the same place kind of working
17:05on one thing but you know here we're a little divided so i don't know there's nobody nobody to
17:12tell me what to do
17:21it sounds like things are moving at pines and palms i have to fly over there isla morata is about 208
17:26nautical miles across the gulf stream so it's that way
17:35my role at pines and palms i think is to support the uh design and procurement department right
17:46but if i do need you to put on your tool belt traveling a lot uh i'll keep a few tools in my truck
17:53will you answer my call if i if i'm able coming in here off the old highway this is your first
18:01impression when you get on the property it's so linear too straight to the ocean gotta break that
18:06up so we have the fisherman's pad here on the lower level and then we have obviously the larger unit
18:12up top which is great because it's three full bedrooms kitchen living space like that's just
18:17valuable real estate for any guest a lot of water damage on the siding things here to deal with too
18:21yep and just structurally i mean roof looks great but you can see that deck's not flat there so i
18:26think we just have to elevate that clean it up a little bit from the landscaping perspective it'll
18:34be how people travel throughout property whether it be they're parking their cars or pathways so that
18:41we have these little moments interspersed that they can join together get to know one another
18:45what i would like to do is sort of take that first half of the property back by the ocean and
18:52really create walking paths extra family spaces fire pit areas just these communal areas so you feel
18:58like you have escaped to a resort instead of feeling like you're vacationing in a parking lot we need to
19:05be strategic about how we renovate this entire block taking it offline for the shortest amount of time you
19:11mean we're not going to pack the kids up and move down here and just close it down and go for it this
19:16is going to be harder this is not you know desolate like ours was for a decade there's guests enjoying
19:21the pool today how many independent units are there so we have 26 that's including the townhouses we
19:29have the little cottages we have this row we've got pool we've got beach deck we've got the reception
19:35yes okay that's a lot of balls in the air
19:45i'm still fairly certain at some point i'm going to end up on the tools on my knees in the sun sweaty
19:54but that's okay if you didn't enjoy it you wouldn't get involved in these projects you secretly
19:59love it i think there's a word for that too right and it can be it can be treated
20:05it's just for efficiency it'll be even easier right exponentially exponentially
20:35i have the easy side i just present things that i think will work and then they can
20:40fight it out who in their right mind buys a resort like this with zero experience in hospitality
20:47you know well there's six of us in the world that do right we're trying to straddle not being a five
20:52star hotel but we don't want to remain exactly as we are now and some people you know are upset that
20:57we're changing things all the loyal customers it's the first thing they say well don't you know don't
21:01change the keezy feel to this but then complain about the size of the toilet right right we've
21:06been working on details for this project for quite a while now having different meetings working with
21:11a contractor but now as we're approaching sort of the start date i think it's important that we
21:16all come together and we just make sure we're on the same page what we're trying to do is how does it
21:20work for your guests so they still feel comfortable it's still the same building they've always come
21:24into right the reception area is still where it is the bathroom's still the same all we're doing is
21:28adding them another reason to come back and oh they've added this cool grab and go but it's a
21:32full upgrade right we're looking at the kitchens all new appliances all of the bathrooms that are
21:38outdated or perhaps a little bit squishy in size we need to look at how to standardize that toilet
21:45space shower space vanities as well yeah but we're also trying to work with inside this the same box
21:50right we're not blowing out walls and we don't have more space for more footprint i think the other
21:55partners would love to just put lipstick some new furniture and and get going this whole process we
22:04will have to make changes as we go they're going to be some things that come up right brian there's
22:10always things that come up no it's a good collaboration we should be under budget and on
22:15time there you go there's no way ahead of schedule under budget and the customer's always happy that's
22:20yep that's the goal right nick is clearly wearing his rose colored glasses as he should
22:33the keys for brian and myself and i think all four of our children is almost like a home away
22:39from home as well i love key lime it's an actual piece of key lime pie that's been dipped in chocolate
22:44when you come to the florida keys you are prohibited from leaving until you have a piece of key lime pie
22:52so what's the plan for the rest of today i feel like we should do something active now
22:56there's a lot to do though well then you better eat both my piece and your piece you already need it
23:01i'm gonna need some energy we have a knack for ruining vacation destinations by piling on you know a lot
23:08of work and stress for ourselves in that location is that was that fair today we're hopping into one
23:20of the ocean view cabins we're ready to start demo there we're really gutting it from wall to wall
23:26the entire kitchen needs to come out bathroom the wall for the bedrooms we're giving this a full revamp
23:31what do we want to salvage the ceiling the footprint we're going to keep the footprint
23:36of it i thought you didn't want a tool listen i can't i can't work with it and a hammer
23:45for the record he'd like just give me what makes you two work together so well why do you
23:54make such editing right editing yeah that's that's we've worked so well together over the years
24:02due to editing it's like back to uh back to what back to my bachelor pad remember when you came in
24:08and made me ruin my bachelor pad started on your bachelor pad you know what we could start a summer
24:15camp for couples and you just devil places because it gets all your eggs sometimes it takes a raging fire
24:22to prepare uh to prepare the soil for the beautiful flowers to sprout what are you doing thank you
24:35these cabinets have seen a better day just a little mouse turd in there demo is kind of fun yeah it's a lot
24:44of fun there's a lot of different parts of any project that i really enjoy but you know getting
24:49started and doing that initial piece of demolition i think it's like the bottle of champagne on the bow
24:54you know it's like let's go sailing oh this is gonna be a fun day
25:02i'll just take it out in two pieces i get dirty and do what i'm told and you get a little dirty too
25:21and we do have electrical coming in for this light which maybe we got it yeah oh no lights on
25:34that's lights on so that's alive okay okie dokie um oh well hang on
25:43well it's not on that gfi let's play mystery circuits
25:47we can't find an electrical panel there's just power coming in these are the little surprises
25:55electricians can be busy
26:04we're playing frogger here we are we're paying playing frog we're doing demolition in one villa
26:09electrical plumbing rough-ins framing are happening the townhouses and we're we're going to kind of
26:15hopscotch our way through the resort to disrupt the guests as little as possible we're trying we're
26:24pretty disruptive
26:30i'm pretty cool and collected but these are really early days in a project and in the back of my mind
26:36i know that these bungalows are 50 plus years and i think we just haven't uncovered everything that
26:44we're about to i'm scared you first why are you scared oh that smell of yeah ed said this wall was
26:51completely full of termite poop and cockroaches and cockroaches like it was in your favorite best
26:57and then wherever you go they follow okay pull those planes i see a couple of issues here that could
27:04be potentially very expensive look at this a crack into a huge cracked piece of cast iron so that needs
27:11to be replaced here's my concern if all the in floor or under floor plumbing is cast iron we need to get
27:18these scoped and looked at they could be completely collapsed just like they were at cmc i know and it could
27:23just be draining into the sand into the sand yeah i think we're gonna have to scope all of the villas
27:30to make sure if they're all cast iron we have to make sure we don't have to replace all the in-ground
27:34plumbing
27:47i think we're gonna have to scope all of the villas to make sure if they're all
27:51cast iron we have to make sure we don't have to replace baldy and ground plumbing
27:56which is going to be significantly more expensive which they don't want like
28:02we want to have an option if that's all collapsed we want to have an option we don't have an option
28:05you can't just poop into the sand
28:09today it feels like we're reliving some moments from cerula mar when you talk about
28:14plumbing it maybe is a bit of a sore spot between the two of us dissolved pipes underneath the slab
28:25a little more difficult to deal with so i'm happy that we're just running into above grade plumbing
28:31issues here so far so far that was the word yeah well so far this could be a real mess is there any
28:39other place to be for you and i but in in deep no since the day i met you that's where i've resided
28:46remember the promise i made when quentin was born i have to work 24 hours a day seven days a week i will
28:51and so far you've held me to it this here if that beam is poured right to the outside correct we could
29:01cut this back to here and core fill all this blocks if if that beam extends beyond here at least three
29:08inches then we can leave it as a post in the wall get rid of this just up to that height though i always
29:14love the good news give me the worst case scenario i have i need to figure out a plan for this
29:20the worst case scenario is every single villa the in-floor plumbing is rotten and we have to replace
29:25it and we can't move this and we can only afford to do half of the villas we're only one week into
29:32this project about and we're already finding some major issues and if this continues uh we have a
29:38limited budget to work with here with the partners so that means we're gonna have to scale back on the
29:42finishes we're back home in canada we're here a lot more than people realize our head office is still
29:52there we have a home there our family is there uh you know that that's our that's our primary spot it's
29:57nice when we go home it just feels like it's our time we do have media commitments and other corporate
30:04commitments that we have to travel to from time to time and it doesn't matter if the current project is
30:09on fire it's always nice to get home and joining us now to share more is brian and sarah bombler
30:16it's extremely busy and i think just keeping our eye on the prize and keeping connected and
30:20communicating welcome home oh nailed it on the fourth one that's the one thank god we're not recording
30:27this on cameras or no we're all in this together nobody knows what they're doing
30:32you know narrowing our focus to something much bigger that will keep us much busier
30:49i think now that we have the kids back on the island they're helping us do a little bit of work
30:52they're a lot more useful now as they've aged they've got a little experience we would love to get them
30:59interested more in this and and help us to really grow and expand things here on the island although
31:05we don't feel like we've aged when we look at our kids they're now adults some of them yeah they're
31:11getting big you know those days of them being five years old riding their bike around the property
31:16those days are gone it's just a different time in their lives and in ours just look at the state of
31:22that bedroom it's two teenage boys well you're not in college yet you can't behave like that
31:28now i'm surrounded by five people that know everything and boys there's dirty
31:34there's your crabbing your crabbing clothes stink they have to live out
31:42so do you remember when we lived in the boat
31:44yeah with no ac because we had no ac we focused more on the job at hand and less on the creature
31:52comforts for ourselves it was a transformative time for our entire family we moved out and now
31:59we want to move back yeah we're like teenagers when they go off to school
32:06we should just yeah maybe we should just go
32:11oh you just sat on a rod
32:16okay have fun
32:20the last time all six of us were together in one villa the kids were a lot smaller
32:26had a growth spurt that's for sure yeah they just occupy more space physically mentally
32:33sonically you know it's a lot we love them though
32:44i don't think we ever were finished in bahamas i think we just took a moment and pressed pause
32:51i think at the time we thought we were done we packed up we left the island uh but i think
33:00there's more bahamas in our future
33:05this was a good wake-up call this is the first time the six of us has all been here together and
33:09yeah you're getting bigger and louder so maybe
33:12maybe this becomes our villa serves two purposes it gives us our own space but i think if we're
33:20looking at some point to fractional ownership or village sales or development i think this could be
33:26a great show home so to speak one of the ideas that we've been exploring for siru lamar is to
33:33actually sell villas or do fractional ownership on the property that will create more stable occupants
33:41that are there more often which allows us to add amenities so it's a it's a cycle brian has a
33:47concept for a show villa it's like our signature villas that we have here on the property and the way
33:53it is finished which we think is is beautifully feel still relaxed and part of island lifestyle
33:59yeah i think in the next month or two we'd like to get this started oh that's true
34:21we started villa 9 assuming we were going to finish it and it would be an operational villa
34:27and then we sort of put the brakes on it and we flipped into adding the pickleball cord and doing
34:31some other things unfortunately it also became a storage villa really it holds everything which
34:40isn't a good look for it it's not much cooler in here joe sorry all right well it's gonna be hot but
34:46let's make this quick and painless so what are we taking out everything realistically everything has to
34:52come out but when we take it out i just want to sort it to being three piles donation storage back in
35:00the villa okay char do you want to help me with this big guy do you think we can do this one i'm the pa
35:06now so what so what does that mean i'm the pa now how's my boss see what you guys are doing to us
35:15i still birthed you so i trump everybody all right charlotte is dipping her toe on the other side of
35:24the camera she's part of our production team today so even though i'm trying to ask her some questions
35:30apparently she is not my responsibility today that one of our producers is in charge of her
35:41what's your plan for this villa is it just staying
35:46storage no it became storage we partly finished it so the hardwoods obviously all down
35:54baseboards up already in the bathroom the vanity's been done and all the countertops have been done
36:01that's done it is but we still have to do all the tile at the bottom so we need to do tile for the
36:06front entryway tile the shower and obviously the rest of the bathroom drywall but the heavy duty work
36:12is done so everything so the wood's down and that's the demo is done so that's good but this actually
36:22this is a vanity that is for cool okay that's that's your guys's job jojo and charlotte well
36:34they're here to help work for these few days although we get to relax and swim in the beautiful ocean
36:39everyone has to do a little sweat equity
36:48the pond in front of the villa has really flourished and the problem now is that you cannot see
36:57you know more than 20 feet the other bigger issue is that in the springtime when we get a lot of rain
37:03we get flooding across the back of the hotel and if this pond is open and operative it can accept
37:10more of that water i'm happy to just sit in the machine all day i can't hear anyone there's nobody
37:15yelling at me it's great
37:35you want to go for a swim maybe at the blue hole hang on can i try you want to try i do
37:44no here's what i want to do because we have no view from this villa you want to try and get some out
37:49sure fire it up all right just leave it on low rpm for now okay try and grab some of the reeds and
37:58bring them up let most of the water grain out then you can turn around dump them right there we'll put
38:01them in the bin and go to the dump later okay link has a history with machinery he's always been drawn
38:09two machines he would sit on my lap under the bar strapped in and fall asleep while i was back
38:13filling and he's he's just he's very mechanically inclined
38:19oh link if you push your thumb to the right yeah and your right hand to the right it'll curl the bucket
38:26out and bring the thumb down as well so you don't drop it other way other right what i put it to the right
38:34sorry left and right left with your thumb there stop it's all right it's the best way to learn
38:42i'll get a bigger scoop yeah
38:46i do want to get this done today though
38:51a bigger scoop than you were doing oh yeah it's huge drop it over there swing right or left
38:56yeah i would i would probably go right considering your father's here it's definitely a proud dad
39:04moment just sitting there and watching you know my my youngest boy uh kind of taking over so yeah i'm
39:11happy for him open her up open her up jackpot that's my boy that's my boy
39:27expanding can be looked at in many different capacities not only on our own footprint of the
39:33property with expanding at cerula mar offering some new amenities for our guests expanding our
39:38villa count but also the island as a whole what does further responsible expansion look like what
39:46different ways are we partnering with locals to make sure new businesses are there for our guests to enjoy
39:56with cerula mar and with south andros we either leave it as it is and be happy that we have
40:06you know a small little piece of paradise that we love or we really just take a massive risk and try
40:12and do something bigger and grow and provide unique opportunities for that community and other jobs and
40:18show our children what it is as a legacy project to really grow and develop something
40:34this is what we're dealing with it's kind of what we're looking at i mean there's lots of room here for
40:39a brand new island community yeah a resort centered community we could have little stores where anyone
40:50on the island can be residential or more hotel rooms could be a farm i know could be all of that but i
40:57think when you look at the topography areas that maybe are a little farther away from the ocean it makes
41:03the most sense to do some of the commercial or make sense for some of the back of house we also need
41:09restaurants we need little markets we need little stores and coffee shops like this is a community
41:16not just another hotel yeah well and eventually as it grows into residential lots i mean will people that
41:22are working here will want to build a home so we're going to have to look at residential commercial
41:28this is a little more than our normal oh this is an ugly looking house let's renovate it this is
41:34a little bit bigger than anything we've ever done before
41:45when you're trying to envision something that doesn't exist and maybe doesn't exist anywhere yet in
41:51the world just the sky is the limit it's pretty raw that to me is what i love like
41:57this is completely untouched untouched when we were living in bahamas as stressful as it was with
42:06the cerula mar project and with the pandemic and with living there it was one singular project that we
42:12were both invested in and our children were right there with us it almost was simpler
42:21this needs a lot of work
42:22you can't look at the little we have to look at the big picture there is so much to do
42:32yeah it's almost unfathomable i'm looking at all of the things that we have all the different
42:40businesses what we're trying to do and how we can sort of take all of these and make them be working
42:46together going in the same direction like cerula mar it was a project that felt a little bit out of
42:54our scope but it was attainable this is something that we may not even see it come to fruition in our
43:01lifetime this might be something the kids are finishing does that worry you or excite you a little bit of both
43:10something like this could be the rest of our lives but if you're not scared about something this could break us
43:23i still think we should do it you've always said we've only got one shot
43:26we can't leave this like this like one storm and this whole unit is going to just fall down
43:38i'm going to need something a little stronger than this this is a make it or break it position i can't
43:44tell you anything until the engineer gets here he's not going to like what do you see that's like
43:48actively wet you can smell and see the mold we may have to scale back and not do all the units right
43:54this land parcel that we're going to acquire would be by far the biggest thing we've ever tackled
44:00budget needs to be a big conversation
44:06there's no pool there's no bar why are people coming hear the thunder too i did hear the thunder
44:14that's how i feel about this
