China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has accused the United States of undermining international law and reverting to a “law of the jungle” amid former President Donald Trump’s threats of interference in Iran. Speaking in Beijing, spokesperson Mao Ning said China opposes external interference in Iran’s internal affairs and warned major powers to respect international law. The comments come as tensions rise over Iran protests, U.S. rhetoric, and warnings from Tehran that it is ready for war if provoked.
