Birmingham flat fire leads to cannabis farm discovery in Ladywood

Emergency services attending a fire in a Birmingham block of flats uncovered a cannabis farm inside the building.

00:00West Midlands Police have discovered a cannabis farm inside a block of flats in Birmingham

00:05after being called to help firefighters dealing with a blaze.

00:10Officers were sent to Coniston Crescent in the Ladywood area of the city

00:14shortly before half past six in the morning to support crews at the scene.

00:19While carrying out safety checks and searches inside the building,

00:23police found a cannabis farm containing 16 plants.

00:27The farm was shut down and officers remained at the address

00:30while the fire service investigated the cause of the fire.

00:34The force says that inquiries are continuing

00:37and that officers stayed on site to assist emergency services

00:41and ensure the area was safe afterwards.
