U.S. President Donald Trump said Washington is weighing “strong options,” including military action, over Iran’s crackdown on anti-government protests. Speaking aboard Air Force One, Trump said the military is reviewing responses and a decision could come soon if violence continues.
Trump added Iran’s leaders have sought negotiations, with a meeting being arranged, but warned action could precede talks. Iran’s parliament speaker cautioned any attack would make U.S. bases and Israel legitimate targets.

00:00What a nice grouping this is. This is really nice. Look at this. It's going to be very rough in about 10 minutes, so we'll have to go a little bit quickly. They just said very, very rough.
00:13We're on for all of them. Have they caught your breath while I get to a general response?
00:18It looks like there seem to be some people killed that aren't supposed to be killed. These are violent. If you call them leaders, I don't know if they're leaders or just they rule through violence.
00:30But we're looking at it very seriously. The military is looking at it, and we're looking at some very strong options. We'll make a determination.
00:39Which options have you been briefed on? Are you meeting with senior officials?
00:45Are you asking me to say what will they do, where will we attack, when, and at what angle will we attack from?
00:53I'm with the U.S. White House TV pool. I'm wondering, are you being briefed on options? I'm with CNN, sir.
01:01Why did you say I'm with CNN? She says, I'm with the White House pool. I say, what? You're with CNN. You're with fake news.
01:12Because CNN is fake news. Go ahead. Give me a question.
01:16Can I ask how you're balancing and how you're deciding your response, the balance between helping protesters versus hindering them?
01:23Because I imagine that's a delegate violence to strike.
01:26I mean, some of the protesters were killed through the stampeding. I mean, you know, there's so many of them.
01:32And so if we're shot, we'll get a full report. I'm getting an hourly report, and we're going to make a determination.
01:38We're going to make a steal, I send you back.
01:41Sir, the son of the disposed Shah, the son of the disposed Shah, and some military leaders are encouraging you to take action in Iran.
01:49Are you, is that a serious option? And I know some people have been shot, and we're looking at it. Yeah, please.
01:55Are you going to go to Venezuela, or is Secretary Rubio going to go to Venezuela?
02:00We're doing well. Venezuela is really working out well. We're working along really well with the leadership, and we'll see how it all works.
02:08Are you starting to meet with Delce to go?
02:11At some point, I'll meet. Very good. She asked us, can we take 50 million barrels of oil? And I said, yes, we can.
02:20It's $4 billion, $4.2 billion. And it's on its way right now to the United States.
02:27When will you meet with Machado this week?
02:31I'm looking for something to grab here. It's going to get rough, and I don't seem to be in agreement. I think you did this to me.
02:40You put me in a position where there's absolutely nothing to grab. So I'm looking for something to grab, and it's not going to be Carolina.
02:49How many oil companies make commitments to you, sir?
02:53Have any oil companies made commitments to the United States after your meeting on Friday, sir?
02:57No.
02:58Do they have Exxon?
02:59No, I don't want to say. No, I didn't like Exxon's response. You know, we have somebody that wanted to probably be inclined to keep Exxon out.
03:08I didn't like their response. They're playing too cute.
03:12What backstops or guarantees have you told the oil companies that you're willing to provide them?
03:18Guarantees that they're going to be safe, that there's going to be no problem, and there won't be. There's not going to be a problem.
03:24They had problems in the past because they didn't have Trump as a president. They had stupid people.
03:30What kind of deal are you looking for from Cuba? What kind of deal are you looking for from Cuba?
03:39You'll find out pretty soon. We're talking to Cuba, and you'll find out pretty soon.
03:44And one of the things I want taken care of and one of the groups I want taken care of are the people that came from Cuba
03:50that were forced out or left under duress, and they're great citizens of the United States right now.
03:57You have a lot of people forced out of Cuba unfairly, so we're going to take care of, most importantly right now,
04:02we're going to take care of the people that came from Cuba that are American citizens or in our country.
04:08Are you planning to seize any oil tankers that are heading to Cuba?
04:14Well, they have a lot of oil people really interested. You saw that the other day.
04:17That was just a small group because the room in the White House, we need the ballroom, actually.
04:22We could have built up the ballroom, practically.
04:25We have so many people that want to go in for oil. So you saw some great companies.
04:31Are you going to send Starlink to Iran, sir, to help the people in the ground with the internet blackout for 72 hours?
04:38We're talking about that. We may get the internet going if that's possible.
04:42Are you talking to Musk about it?
04:43We may speak to Elon. As you know, he's very good at that kind of thing.
04:47He's got a very good company. So we may speak to Elon Musk.
04:51In fact, I'm going to call him as soon as I'm finished with you.
04:55Just quickly, Iraq said that they would consider military and commercial bases as legitimate targets if you struck them.
05:03Are you concerned about-
05:04We'll consider things targets that they wouldn't believe. If they do that, we will hit them at levels that they've never been hit before.
05:13They won't even believe it. I have options that are so strong. So I mean, if they did that, it'll be met with a very, very powerful force.
05:22I think so.
05:26Don't you think so? CNN, don't you think so? What do you say that they probably do at this point?
05:32After going through it for years with me, being hit with Soleimani, al-Baghdadi, the Iran nuclear threat wiped out.
05:41Don't you think- and then you just had Venezuela. Don't you think- she says, CNN, do you think they take your threat seriously?
05:49What do you say they do after all of the things we've done? What a stupid question.
05:54Are you coordinating with allies on the response to Iran?
05:59Sir, President, when will you meet with Maria Correa Machado this week?
06:04I don't know. I hear Tuesday or Wednesday, but I'm forward to that.
06:07Have you named your board of peace for Gaza yet? Where do those plans stand?
06:12We have a board of peace that's being formed, but essentially it's the most important leaders of the most important nations.
06:18All nations, but the most important- you take the most important leaders and nations.
06:24That's who the board of peace is going to be. Everybody wants to be on it.
06:28You're going to have one group taking your threat seriously as- one area taking your threat to the New York Post.
06:35New York Post treats me semi-fairly. So go ahead.
06:40One group taking your threat very seriously is Greenland. Are you still thinking a military action there?
06:47Or is there anything they can-
06:48One of them where military action?
06:49Greenland.
06:50Greenland.
06:51Greenland. Is there anything they can offer you for a deal?
06:53If we don't take Greenland, Russia or China will. And I'm not letting that happen.
06:58If we don't take Greenland, Russia or China will take Greenland. And I am not going to let that happen.
07:05You know, they can offer you and they're like-
07:07Yeah, sure, I'm not going to make a deal with them. It's easier.
07:11But one way or the other, we're going to have Greenland.
07:14Are you afraid if that compromises NATO? If NATO effectively ceases to resist-
07:20I'm doing a great job. I'm the one that saved NATO. I'm the one that got them to pay 5.5% of GDP.
07:27Wait a minute. It was 2% and they didn't pay. Now they're paying 5%. I'm the one that saved NATO.
07:33You wouldn't have NATO if I weren't president.
07:36Would you pull the U.S. out of NATO? Would you consider doing that?
07:39Well, maybe NATO would be upset if I did it. Maybe NATO would save a lot of money. I like NATO.
07:46I just wonder whether or not, if we needed NATO, would they be there for us?
07:50I'm not sure they would. You know, we spent a lot of money on NATO. And I'm not sure they would.
07:55Now, what's happened is, as you know, sleepy Joe Biden gave $350 million to Ukraine and got nothing for it.
08:04I got rare earth back. I got, I think, value back far greater than that.
08:08And that's what he should have done. Now, if you look at what's going on with respect to NATO, we have a very good relationship.
08:155% GDP and they pay us. We send them military equipment and they pay us back the full cost of the equipment.
08:23The war, we make money with the war, but I don't even want to talk about that.
08:27I want to save the lives. They're Russian and Ukrainian lives. I want to save the lives. That's the only reason I'm doing it.
08:35This is Biden's war. It should have never happened. It would have never happened if I were president. This is Biden's war. It's not Trump.
08:41All I can do is stop it. And I think we're making progress toward stopping it, which would be number nine and a quarter.
08:48You know what the quarter is, right? Right? Thailand and Cambodia went at it again. But I got it stopped very quickly.
08:57I consider that one quarter of a war. When is the last time you're going to go over to Greenland yet? Have you made an actual over at that point?
09:06I haven't done that, but Greenland should make the deal because Greenland does not want to see Russia or China take over.
09:12They don't go there. It's very far away from Greenland. And Greenland, basically, their defense is two dog sleds. Do you know, though? Do you know what their defense is? Two dog sleds.
09:23In the meantime, you have Russian destroyers and submarines and China destroyers and submarines all over the place. We're not going to let that happen.
09:34I mean, it affects NATO and then it affects NATO. But, you know, they need us much more than we need them. I will tell you that right now.
09:41Are you going to Ukraine on a military base?
09:43That's a war that should have never happened with Ukraine.
09:46The UK and Germany are discussing plans for a joint NATO mission to protect Arctic security in Greenland. Does that change your calculus at all?
09:55No. We're talking about acquiring, not leasing, not having a short term. We're talking about acquiring.
10:03And if we don't do it, Russia or China will. And that's not going to happen when I'm president.
10:09Are you going to agree to the amount of military bases on Greenland in the meantime?
10:12We have bases on Greenland, yeah.
10:14Are you going to do more?
10:15We have a lot of soldiers there right now, if I want. But you need more than that. You need ownership.
10:21You really need title, as they say in the real statement.
10:24You're on Minneapolis. Your administration has advocated for absolute immunity for the ICE officer who shot grenade gun.
10:33How do you define absolute immunity? What does that mean?
10:36Everyone's seen it. A woman who's very violent, she's a very radical person, very sad, whatever.
10:42Her friend was very radical. You know, go or drive, drive.
10:46How would you define that?
10:48Well, I'm going to let the people define it.
10:51Immunity, you know what immunity means as well as I do.
10:55So that officer should be back on the force?
10:57But you know, people can't be treating law enforcement that way, whether it's ICE or Border Patrol or our police, men and women.
11:03You can't do that. We have, you know, the law enforcement in our country is doing really well, despite the fact that Sleepy Joe Biden allowed people to pour through an open water.
11:15Crime stats just came out. We have the best crime stats on record, despite all the criminals he allowed into our country.
11:22We've gotten a lot of them out. We have to respect our law enforcement.
11:26At a very minimum, that woman was very, very disrespectful to law enforcement.
11:34And you heard the same noises. You saw the same crunch that I saw.
11:38You can't do that with law enforcement, whether it's police or ICE or Border Patrol or anybody else.
11:44When it comes to ICE officials, don't you?
11:46Mr. President, well, just to clarify on the absolute immunity, do you believe ICE officers should have absolute immunity?
11:53Well, generally speaking, I mean, these people have been harassed and threatened every day.
12:02They had bands out playing so they couldn't sleep in the hotel.
12:05I see what they're doing to them. They're threatening them constantly.
12:09And all they're doing is doing what I got elected on.
12:12We had millions of people that came into a country that are horrible people that shouldn't be in our country.
12:20They're murderers. They're drug dealers. They're people from mental institutions.
12:24They're criminally insane. They're people from prisons.
12:28They were allowed to come into our country because Biden was a stupid person.
12:33And the people surrounding him, very smart, very vicious, but they have no common sense.
12:39And they're radicalized people. They're radical left people, not radical right.
12:43They're radical left people. And all they're doing is what I campaigned on.
12:47I won in a landslide. We won all seven swing states.
12:51We won the popular vote. We won the districts. We won everything.
12:54We won the counties. We won the counties by 79 percent, I believe.
13:00I campaigned on the Great Border. And now we have a Great Border.
13:05But Biden let 25 million people come into this country, and many of those people are criminals, including 11,888 murderers.
13:16And we want them out. And I won on that. Now people don't talk about it because the border is so secure.
13:22Nobody wants to talk about it anyway. The border was one of the reasons I won the election.
13:27I've done such a good job on it that nobody wants to talk about it anymore. The border is totally secure.
13:34And now the crime stats just came out, and they're the best numbers since they were taken.
13:40And that's like 50 years ago. We have the best crime numbers, despite the fact that a lot of criminals were allowed into our country.
13:47We have to respect our law enforcement.
13:51Sir, do you believe that deadly force was necessary after watching all the footage? A few days have passed. What's your assessment there?
13:57It was highly disrespectful of law enforcement. The woman and her friend were highly disrespectful of law enforcement.
14:05You saw that. They were harassing. They were following for days and for hours. And I think, frankly, they're professional agitators.
14:14And I'd like to find out, and we are going to find out who's paying for it, with their brand new signs and all the different things.
14:22But these are professional agitators. And law enforcement should not be in a position where they have to put up with the stuff.
14:30What that woman and what her friend and what their other friends were doing to law enforcement, not just ICE, law enforcement is outrageous.
14:40Can you tell us about your trip to Detroit on Tuesday?
14:45I'm going to be making a trip to Detroit to talk about our unbelievable amount of factories that are opening up all over the country, many of which are car factories and car plants.
14:56We have manufacturing plants opening up at levels that nobody's ever seen before because of tariffs.
15:02Because of tariffs. If we didn't have tariffs, you wouldn't have them opening, although they were very happy with the November 5th election.
15:11But we have from Canada they're coming, from Mexico they're coming, from Germany, from Japan, from all over Europe, and from Japan, other places, and from China.
15:21They're opening up car factories, car manufacturing plants at levels that we've never seen before.
15:29So I'm going to Detroit because they're going to be opening up plants in Detroit, or redoing plants, but they're really ripping down old plants and building new.
15:38We are going to be, we're the hottest country right now anywhere in the world.
15:42Let me think of it, a year and a half ago we were a dead country, and now we're the hottest country anywhere in the world.
15:49Mr. President, that most has a three year extension of the ACA, it's in the Senate, if it passes the Senate, would you veto it or allow it to be?
15:57I might, yeah, I might.
15:58Sir, do you have any information about the suspicious object that was found at Palm Beach International Air Force in Portugal?
16:04No. I know nothing about it.
16:06Okay, and back on Iran, the Ayatollah said that he thinks that the protestors are trying to please you.
16:12Do you see it that way? What's your message to the Iranian people?
16:15I don't know if they're trying to please me. They named a boulevard after me, but that's pretty pleasing.
16:20But I don't think they're trying to please me. I think they just want peace.
16:23They want to have freedom. The protestors are after freedom.
16:27Iran has not allowed freedom for a long time.
16:30And the protestors, I don't think they're trying to appease me.
16:33They're trying to get somebody to help them.
16:36They're under siege. And now it looks like they're being shot, which is a very bad thing.
16:40There's an administration in contact with Iranian opposition leaders as this is unfolding.
16:46Yeah.
16:47What's the message to them?
16:49Yeah. You'll get to find out pretty soon.
16:52You said to help him.
16:54Yeah, go ahead. With the beautiful red hair.
16:57Thank you. I appreciate that.
16:58So coming up with the premiere of Melania, have you seen the movie yet?
17:01What are your thoughts on?
17:02I've seen pieces of it. It's incredible, I tell you.
17:05I think it's going to do, you know, she did a book.
17:08And the book was a big number one bestseller.
17:11And this is a movie.
17:13And it seems to be captivating a lot of people's attention.
17:17It's very good.
17:18Did you do the premiere at the Trump Kennedy Center?
17:20Here we go again. Yeah, it's going to be doing the premiere at the Trump Kennedy Center.
17:25It'll be very exciting.
17:27It's a very hard ticket, I can tell you.
17:29Everybody, Wade Gretzky and his wife Janet, beautiful wife, great wife.
17:34He said last night, gee, I want to go to a lot of people.
17:37Everybody wants tickets to the premiere.
17:40I think it's going to be great.
17:43Is there any timing on the mortgage bond purchases you announced last week?
17:47On the what? Mortgage?
17:48Is mortgage bond purchases by Penny May and Freddie Mac?
17:51No, they're already doing it. They've started.
17:53Yeah, they started the process.
17:55And it's having a great impact.
17:57Interest rates are falling very rapidly.
18:00Not only for that reason, for other reasons, too.
18:02But interest rates are falling very rapidly.
18:05With no help from the Fed.
18:08Because we have a total stip in the Fed.
18:11Can I ask you, the announcement on the credit card interest rates that you put out on Friday.
18:17What happens if the credit card companies don't comply by the January date?
18:22Well, then they're in violation of the law.
18:25Do you want thresholds to work?
18:26Very severe things.
18:27No, I want a cap on credit card interest rates.
18:31Because, you know, some of them are 28, almost 30 percent.
18:35And people don't know they're paying 30 percent.
18:39The people out there, you know, they're working.
18:41And they have no idea that they're paying 30 percent.
18:43No way.
18:44We're putting a one-year cap at 10 percent.
18:47And that's it.
18:48They know it.
18:49They've really abused the public.
18:51The credit card companies have totally abused.
18:53I'm not going to let it happen.
18:55Do you sense how the willingness for Iran to engage diplomatically with you
18:59or perhaps negotiate on nuclear program?
19:02With Iran?
19:03Yeah.
19:04Do you think they want to engage diplomatically with you?
19:05They do.
19:06They called yesterday.
19:09Is it still an option?
19:10Is it still an option?
19:11Iran called to negotiate.
19:12Yesterday.
19:13Yesterday.
19:14The leaders of Iran called.
19:15They want to negotiate.
19:16What?
19:17I think they're tired of being beat up by the United States.
19:20Iran wants to negotiate, yes.
19:25Negotiate what?
19:26We may meet with them.
19:27I mean, a meeting is being set up.
19:30But we may have to act because of what's happening before the meeting.
19:36But a meeting is being set up.
19:38Iran called.
19:39They want to negotiate.
19:40Thank you very much, everybody.
19:41Be careful.
19:42A lot of bumps.
19:43What's your plan for East Potomac?
19:45Are you going to renovate the Bosphorus?
19:46We're going to make it a beautiful, world-class U.S.
19:49Open Caliber course.
19:50And ideally, we're going to have major tournaments there and everything else.
19:54It's going to bring a lot of business into Washington.
19:56By the way, the crime stats just came out on Washington, D.C.
20:00And there is virtually no crime.
20:03It's gone from tremendous crime, murder, and everything else.
20:08There's virtually no crime in Washington, D.C.
20:11Thank you, President Trump.
20:12Thank you very much, everybody.
