00:11Sophie, how are things looking in Ingham?
00:14We can see that the winds have really picked up now.
00:18Yeah, it is getting windier and windier by the second and there has also, the rain has
00:24started to kick in a little bit.
00:25There's been little droplets here and there and that is expected to definitely get heavier
00:30as the day goes on.
00:32The winds are expected to get windier as well.
00:35I think the highest gales, they are expecting wind gusts up to 100 kilometres an hour and
00:41as you can see, we're experiencing a pretty strong wind gust as we speak now.
00:46Give us a sense, Sophie, at this stage, how residents are managing and coping.
00:51I think the feeling around town is a lot of uncertainty.
00:56There's a lot of uncertainty about where this system is going to cross.
01:00The current safety advice area ranges from Port Douglas down to about Airlie Beach.
01:07So that is encompassing a large area.
01:10But the tropical low 12U, which is likely to increase to a tropical cyclone intensity before
01:15landfall, is likely to cross between Cardwell and Airlie Beach, most likely early tomorrow
01:22morning.
01:22But up until then, today is going to be quite wet and windy for residents here.
01:27And yes, that is giving a sense of uncertainty, a bit of anxiety, but everyone is feeling prepared
01:34and ready for it.
