00:00Earlier this afternoon, two people were shot and injured by federal agents in
00:04the Hazelwood neighborhood. Violence in our community is devastating. These are
00:10not statistics, these are human beings. Portland is not a training ground for
00:16militarized agents. When the administration talks about using full
00:20force, we are seeing what it means on our streets. We know what the federal
00:27government says happened here. There was a time when we could take them at their
00:31word. That time is long past. That is why we are calling on ICE to halt all
00:38operations in Portland until a full and independent investigation can take place.
00:44Our community deserves answers. Our community deserves accountability. And
00:49most of all, our community deserves peace.
00:53Trust is essential to maintaining community safety and the rule of law.
00:59Federal agents at the direction of the Department of Homeland Security are
01:02shattering trust. They are hurting people and they are destroying day by day what
01:10we hold dear. Our sense of safety and our literal safety are severely undermined by
01:17what happened this afternoon in Portland.
