00:00recently the sun released an x-class flare with a coronal mass ejection heading right

00:08towards our planet the resulting solar storm caused communications disruptions in the southern

00:12hemisphere but it also produced gorgeous auroras in areas that never get to see them now experts

00:18say the solar storm was so strong it was even felt at the bottom of the ocean ocean networks canada

00:23an ocean monitoring organization say they recorded a significant reading via their magnetic compasses

00:29on the seafloor those readings were captured at depths of around 1.7 miles with one of the

00:34researchers saying about the anomaly quote i looked into whether it was potentially an earthquake but

00:39that didn't make a lot of sense because the changes in the data were lasting for too long and concurrently

00:44at different locations they then looked into solar flares knowing that the sun had been so active

00:49and the readings coincided when the next solar flare struck earth just a few days later they

00:54recorded the same needle wobble on their instruments confirming their suspicions

00:58experts say this has resulted in new tools for the measuring of solar activity and its effects on our
