Lasse de sa vie qui la mène de bars douteux en clubs de strip-tease, Beth Raymer, effeuilleuse, décide de tenter sa chance à Las Vegas, où elle devient serveuse. Elle fait rapidement la connaissance de Dink, qui gagne sa vie grâce à des paris sportifs. Quand celui-ci lui demande de placer des paris pour son compte dans différents casinos, il constate que Beth est très douée pour les chiffres. Leur association fonctionne à merveille, jusqu'au jour où Tulip, l'ex-femme de Dink, soupçonne une relation entre le parieur et la jeune femme, et le force à la congédier sur-le-champ. Beth s'envole pour New York, où elle constate que sa chance l'a quittée. A Las Vegas, Dink se retrouve dans la même situation...
