00:00this because i just want to do it yeah you're gonna hurt yourself no no it's gonna swing back
00:05it's gonna knock you i've always wanted to be a boxer i've always wanted to be a boxer go on then
00:08right you see i told you didn't i
00:14i'm henry cole that is beautiful i love it and along with fellow fanatic fuzz townsend
00:22in we go wow we're back on the hunt for vintage treasures look even more in the nation's sheds
00:29oh my god it's a treasure trove we're gonna buy them that's fantastic fix them up and sell them
00:35for a tidy profit i love it welcome to shed and buried
00:40we're on the way to see ross in winchester he is into tractuars oh okay and other various
00:53commodities yeah well i do like a tractor ross mentioned on the phone to me something about
00:59charity ride or something in a tractor i think that would be a lovely thing to do
01:04i suppose because it's a basic form of transport you could say it's tractor basics
01:11whether we find tractors agricultural implements or dozens of sponsorship forms who knows
01:20but ross's place here we come
01:23i think you should admit to fuzz what you're about to embark on i am doing john o'groats to land's end
01:34hold on on that on that yeah solo mission yeah thousand miles 10 days right on a 1942 tractor
01:43for charity obviously all for charity all for brain tumor research we wish you the best of luck yeah
01:48absolutely what a great way to see the country of course slowly yeah very slowly i kind of always
01:54thought that might be a great idea now look obviously just looking around here you have a
01:58love of tractors my family several generations up were farmers and i don't know i've just always
02:05been interested in anything old and interesting bought the first one which i've still got
02:09bought one sold it for a little profit worked on and forward and then you know you end up with
02:1615 or 16 and you don't know what to do with it all what we'll do is we'll have a quick romage and
02:21then uh hopefully at the end of it we may have a little bit of a haggle what do you think that
02:26would be great sounds good to me mate thank you so much well we're going to start over there
02:30cheers we'll see you mate okay see you later which way that way yeah look
02:35let's have a look at this minneapolis molins shall we right come on tell me tell me i've not seen
02:45a minneapolis molins before okay well they are an american brand yeah and they made much bigger
02:52tractors than we were making at that period of time from the 20s to the 60s minneapolis molin was a large
03:00tractor manufacturer based in minnesota the model said was one of their best-selling tractors
03:05to me anyway i think they're just fantastic tractors they're great they're kind of they
03:10are very much like a fergie on steroids almost aren't they you know in their in their form and
03:15everything moving two tractors down he's got another pumped up american a mccormick deering
03:23it's just the size is quite overwhelming isn't it that's right in a period these things must have
03:29been absolutely massive same principle as you know back in the medieval times when you come out your
03:35hut yes and there is a cathedral yeah you suddenly kind of in love with god we're here oh my god you're
03:42in love with machinery in love with plowing yeah and also you treat it with immense respect yeah
03:48that's true well that's that's a powerful piece of kit i love it yeah a lot but look more importantly
03:53there's some trinketry yeah right now that is very lovely double-sided as well oh yeah that is good
03:59yeah it looks as though it needs a bit of love and tlc a gentle tap here and there a little bit of
04:06fettling but it's really nice oh that's just a wash yeah yeah now that okay off you go okay
04:13so here we have oh right okay is it it's fiberglass by the looks of this or yeah it could well be or
04:20it's a request bus stop there there we go now you know what a request stop is no it means that
04:26if you're standing at the stop yeah and the bus is coming along yeah if you just stand there
04:31the bus will just go past you will it so you have to put your hand out how do you request a bus
04:36like that no you don't go like that no no no so you know just a friendly a friendly arm up now then
04:42uh that's quite sweet as well little agricultural can yeah that's nice okay so that's some nice
04:48trinketry hopefully yeah hopefully ross will let us acquire those for the right price
04:53so three lovely trinkets but there are plenty more tractors to go
04:58oh here we go now then now this looks like it's seen some action recently
05:03oh do you think so at least a bit of fettling because we've got
05:06a new starter solenoid on here and you know what that means
05:10yeah it means it goes with electric electric start yeah
05:13the oliver farm equipment company of indiana was a large american firm known for its innovative
05:21and sturdy tractors though few were used on british farms today imports are popular among
05:28collectors there was some other accoutrement probably that was attached to this because
05:35there are two handles there perhaps it was a thresher or something like that there's some
05:39sort of power take okay something yeah but all i know oliver 90s this was a big tractor
05:45yeah you know it's a nice thing actually isn't it it's very utilitarian sort of really hardly a curve
05:52on it you know i'm finding tractors very attractive can you help me once you're in mate yeah there's no
05:59coming out yeah you know that it's green i could park it on the lawn you might not be noticed hopefully
06:05yeah yeah right big shed around the corner come on
06:16come on then look oh look ross's big shed is what it says on the tin
06:22he's got some very big plows some big tractors and a large collection of uh oh ross come in
06:34no just i mean off you go just explain i mean i've never been into a shed where there are bombs on
06:42bomb carriers well it's all part of a display we do for an raf section the trailers are genuine world
06:48war ii trailers right the bombs have been made up this is what i love about going into sheds you
06:53just never know what you're going to find who would ever think we're going to find these things today
06:57yeah it's amazing yeah how fantastic ross hey look there's just a tractor over there we'll have a look
07:03at right come on after seeing so many big american tractors it's great to see he's also got some british
07:12beef this is a nuffield universal a mainstay of british farms in the 1950s
07:18in the 1950s now do you know about nuffields well i know that uh nuffields are from the morris
07:25stable absolutely it was christened nuffield because of the village that the geezer own morris lived
07:32in i didn't know that but that would go down well in the village wouldn't it yeah it would
07:36this one has had a baby i was going to say baby nuffield the diminutive nuffield 425 was one of their
07:44first mini tractors at the time it was thought underpowered but today it's highly collectible
07:52it's got grass tires yes right so consequently probably lived life on a oh i don't know a
07:58cricket ground or you know golf course somewhere where they needed something light of foot not
08:04making difference yeah so leaving the bombs aside we really do have plenty to choose from
08:11so look there's some trinketry yeah shed around the corner we'll do a deal yeah right hopefully
08:17on the aa side yeah the bus stop yeah and that agri-castrel can sure all right to go with it there's
08:25the little nuffield was it the 425 oh yeah yeah yeah and yeah what about a minneapolis moment that is
08:35very nice that's larger is there a market for those there's the oliver oh yeah yeah that's uh and it's
08:42a it's a it's a lovely name isn't it yeah should we go and see ross yeah now ross we've got a lot to
08:56get through oh yes we've seen some rather nice things uh what are we going to start with there's
09:02an aa garage double-sided just in there yes yeah yes yes right followed by fuzz is quite interesting
09:12only quite oh it's a well you know it's just an old bristol bus stop i mean you know i'm mixing a bit
09:18of uh filler on or something like me a bagatelle yeah yeah and and also there's an agri-castrel five
09:25gallon i don't know it's a round one oh green one yeah yeah yes yes would there be a deal on those
09:31yeah absolutely okay yeah good now is there anything in those other sheds uh well hold on
09:36there was around the back there was uh an oliver oh yeah tell us about that oh the winch tractor
09:42is it yeah that's a winch tractor that's a threshing tractor from the 40s okay how much would that be
09:46though i'd like to see five and a half for that let's let's think about other stuff here now there is
09:54daddy nuffield and baby nuffield yes right is daddy nuffield available daddy nuffield sold this morning
10:00i'm afraid what it has baby nuffield baby nuffield is for sale how much is baby nuffield baby nuffield
10:07we could do for three and a half what would happen if i offered you
10:14three and a half grand for the nuffield but including the aa sign and the can
10:21and the request bus stop we'd have to go a little more than that
10:30oh here we go now then now this looks like it's seen some action recently
10:44we're down in winchester with ross handling over a bijou nuffield tractor and a trio of trinkets
10:56three six i think i'd be at four god yeah let's make it let's make it three eight
11:05really gone okay well done brilliant thank you next day we bring our baby nuffield back to the farm
11:19i have to tell you i kind of fell in love with it i think it is lovely and i don't think it's
11:25had a hard life because it says on here turf management so that's not been battered across
11:30fields now ross is driving a fordson standard from john o' groats to land's end wow that's so
11:38good all right why don't we get this thing sorted and we'll do our own little tractor run what should
11:44we do it for air ambulance so that's what we're going to do with the tractor can i draw your attention
11:49though to our other accoutrement i have to tell you this garage sign as you can see is double-sided
11:58perhaps we could make up a bracket for it so it's swing like that yeah and then just clean it
12:05so not too much work but a lot of smartening up to do first things first the nuffield
12:12before unleashing the jet wash we spray on liquid soap and brush the really filthy bits with solvent
12:20then i demonstrate my advanced dog management skills why can't you be a dog that's obedient
12:26sit okay your brush is right yeah sit don't dogs reflect their owners yeah
12:36the advantage of using a paintbrush to apply the soap is that it can get into all the small nooks and
12:42crannies where dirt and grease lurk after five minutes of prep we're ready to power up the jet wash
12:48there that's better it's the perfect tool for a job like this and makes swift work of all the gunk
12:59oh yeah oh mate i think that'll do yeah yeah in the afternoon we move on to the trinkets very very
13:07gently yeah they're a little too delicate to take the jet wash to okay flippage yeah look at the difference
13:15it's yes yes so we do it all with sponges and chamois i'm gonna sell the bus stop to fuzz but it too
13:26gets the treatment before everything else gets rubbed down with furniture polish that looks very
13:31nice in your garage it will yeah this needs to just dry off completely so if we look at that for a setup
13:38that's proper nice should we do a little bracket to hang that double-sided
13:42yeah i think it'd be a great idea yeah be nice okay leave that with me we might either get
13:47something made or i might be able to buy something on an auction site or something i think we can
13:50modify the rac sign there you see yeah something like that yeah exactly that yeah all right that's
13:57top work troops
13:58two days later the bracket arrives what do you reckon huh i think that looks perfect yeah that is
14:15that's pretty good yeah i like the patina on it to go with the sign i think it's i think it is in
14:20keeping in it absolutely should we just uh oh yeah oh yeah perfect oh yes yeah you do get lucky
14:29sometimes don't be like that if you persist occasionally it'll go correctly
14:35okay well look hold that sec oh yeah i'll take the heavy weight thanks very much
14:39i'll just sit here quite i'm gonna leave that there for a minute right what are we going to do here then to
14:44fit it okay so the idea is yeah we're going to take this top piece off here okay we are then going to
14:53insert this piece of wood inside why just to strengthen it up a little can you just so tap some
15:03no no we're going we're going to go in the side here right so the chain's going to attach here
15:07which means as we're putting a screw in there it needs to go into something solid so it doesn't
15:12swing about in the wind and then oh and hit you on the head because that could do a rather nasty
15:19injury yeah we don't want that oh hang on is that there oh oh are we okay to continue very important
15:26call yeah oh yeah i thought here we go yeah look he's off again left to their own very capable devices
15:35skid and fuzz get to work off comes the top strip yes it's a bit banana but don't worry about that
15:42madam they all do that out comes the remnants of the old internal frame oh look well it's a good
15:49job we're redoing it isn't it yeah oh god you never know there might be something something long
15:56lost and hidden in here i'm hoping a wad of 50 pound notes falls out no such luck but our wooden
16:03reinforcement fits perfectly that'll do skid prepares a length of chain like that okay
16:11fuzz straightens out the top strip with a vice there we are a little bit yeah
16:19and once it's been refitted they attach the chain screwing into the wooden strut and then hang it from
16:25our new bracket just in time for me to return i say fuzz that looks fantastic you reckon yeah mate
16:33that is quality right can i uh no it's just great what can i can i move here we go we'll lower the
16:40whole thing because i'll leave it hooked on i've got to tell you mate that is properly that bracket
16:45tree yeah that bracket tree has really added value hasn't it next day the sun is shining and we're ready
17:02now lads i've got a plan you know i said we'd do a charity ride out yes yeah well we're going to but
17:09it's going to be a little bit different our charity run is to go to and i know you won't
17:15believe this because he has retired last year yeah we will go to patrick edwards's
17:24because he says he's interested in a 425. oh he can't keep awake can he no because i saw him in
17:28the pub at the weekend having an ale well i'm hoping now he's retired he's softened up and is a bit more
17:33generous the idea is right is if we can eek a profit out of him that profit
17:39we give to the air ambulance that's really nice okay that's cool are you feeling all right you're
17:43being overly generous i do i think i might have found some spiritual being look all i know is i
17:51think we should saddle up i'll put some bales in the back there because you've got to have a seating
17:55in the back yeah and then we will fuffle off uh via perhaps the calf for a quick one yeah yes
18:02down to patrick's what do you reckon sounds fantastic
18:04once the tractor's fueled up we're off
18:15the nuffield 425 can haul up to six tons which should be enough for the trailer and us lot just about
18:24ross is going to be doing this speed
18:27from john of groats to lance end can you imagine that eight miles an hour al's got his speedo on
18:36eight miles an hour blimey can you imagine that being ross eight miles an hour holy moly
18:45two miles in we stop for refreshments
18:47how was that well we made it mate took a while though i thought i was doing about nine miles an
18:59hour average no no i'll clock you're at 18 18. did you flying when was that coming down the lane do
19:06you know if i'm lucky i could get up to 21. back here it's very pleasant because we can hear you
19:11mumbling to yourself but we can't actually hear you don't be like that you're buying the tea
19:18four cups of scorch later we're back on the road ross is planning to do a hundred miles a day
19:24so by comparison this is a doddle 20 minutes later we reach patrick's now pat before we get involved in
19:33the tractor how's retirement oh best job i've ever had i still don't know what i want to do
19:40now pat yeah feast your eyes this is a 425 nuffield as you know yeah right a good old little
19:48miniature small holding tractor right lads yeah it is it runs beautifully it does yeah sounds all right
19:54when you come in and we've also added value pat because we haven't painted it normally when we
19:59paint them you knock us down a grand it's an oily rag tractor which is what people are wanting these
20:03days oh is that right yeah we could be in quids in then any profit that we make over and above three
20:10and a half goes to charity right i would love to charge you three thousand eight hundred for this
20:16tractor i'd probably struggle to find somewhere to go with it at that but i have got somebody that is
20:23looking for a little tractor like this and probably i would be able to give you about three seven
20:27how about that shake his hand that's 200 for the charity go on pat that is very generous of you
20:33pat we're throwing a trailer yeah we're throwing the trailer pat you're interested in the trailer
20:37yeah uh no i don't think i want the trailer i'll drop it back in oh okay
20:45back at the shed we've still got 300 quids worth of trinkets which i'm hoping will be worth a lot more
20:52now i reckon that's 150 that's yours yeah but still 50 back okay right now i reckon that sign
21:01over there that's 500 quid yeah you got the bracket the hanging bracket too yeah okay so let's call it
21:07400 quid okay yeah that's 300 quid profit there we are well happy days hey so we live to fight another
21:14day and hopefully i think well a couple hundred quid we'll get the air ambulance to go uh can i say
21:22something i'm gonna request you stop now very good i like your style this is excellent oh well on to
21:31the next one yeah come on then tea yeah looks like you need another one yeah i'll do come on then
21:45you
