00:00We're halfway through this program, and one of the inmates was found to be cheeking Suboxone.
00:18And I'm concerned that this might indicate that there's a larger drug problem in the pod.
00:24We're going to toss the place. We're going to send in our search team, and we're going to search
00:28the pod with canines.
00:34I don't believe it's going to work. I don't believe it's going to work.
00:37Because if they think, oh, I can get away with this, I can get away with that,
00:41what else can they get away with? It's just going to stem to something else.
00:44If you live in here, don't do anything to poke the bear. Just do what you're supposed to do.
01:01I mean, it's simple, really.
01:02They're going to find drugs, you know, all that shit, and like, it's really bad.
01:10Yeah, so.
01:12So we found Suboxone to be able to find some other prescription drugs, which is concerning,
01:24because people take these drugs without knowing what they are. They can have reactions to them,
01:31or if there's enough of them in there, they can OD from them.
01:44So we already searched your houses. Now we're going to do strip searches.
01:49And you'll be going back to your cells.
01:51I don't know about when you guys come back out, but we have to have security here first.
01:56Finding all this contraband is concerning, so we'll talk to the sheriff and see where
02:03he wants to go with this. But he'll take it very seriously, so.
02:06Turn around, they don't want to give you good cops. Straight away.
02:09And it's on that way, down the stairs to your cell.
02:17I'm tired of this little fucking kindergarten bullshit.
02:19These young kids, they don't listen to me. And so what happens?
02:23Those are the ones that are going to fuck it up for everybody.
02:26I was somewhat involved in the drugs, probably doing things I shouldn't have done.
02:38Being all locked down, it makes you think a little bit more like,
02:41man, I messed up. I put myself here.
02:43104, shut your door behind you.
02:49The sheriff's program, I don't agree with it 100%, just because from what I've seen,
02:54these inmates kind of want to do what they want.
02:58While I have no rules, they try to get a little mouthy with us because they get that freedom,
03:04that privilege. But at the end of the day, we still got to do our job.
03:07Some people get carried away and go too far, and then everybody gets punished for that.
03:19There's so much more better aspects to life. Even if you're in prison, you could still be successful,
03:26and it starts right here. People need to start changing.
03:29They brought new inmates into the pod, hoping that the pod would step up and get them integrated into
03:37the program. Instead, they let outside influences take over, and they put the program in jeopardy.
03:53And they're trying to break me.
04:13After what we found during the shakedown, the decision was made to lock the pod down for 24 hours.
04:18And in addition, they will have no phone access until further notice.
04:2224 hours of this shit.
04:24What the fuck, bro?
04:27What the fuck are you fucking pigs up in this motherfucker?
04:30That's it? We'll turn this shit up. We'll turn this whole fucking place upside down in this motherfucker's...
04:35One of the big things about putting them in lockdown is so they can do a reset and realize all of the
04:41privileges that they had earned that they're now giving up because of their actions. I'm hopeful after
04:46the lockdown, they realize how important the program is to them. But at this point,
04:51I truly don't know if they have it in them.
05:00The last time they come search us, that shit pissed me off, and I just questioned what they do,
05:04so they brought me to max.
05:05I have a hard time biting my tongue. I have a history of violence with the stab. It'd be toxic.
05:24I want to do better, and I'm trying to get everybody in this pod to do better,
05:27and I want positivity, and I'm trying to change myself.
05:31Last night, I went out and I got to sit in the rec pen, and I just sat there and meditated to smell
05:38the air and hear the outside noises of the town.
05:47That was really beautiful, and I can't do that when we're in lockdown.
05:52It's me. I'm just talking to the brothers, just letting them know more about the program,
05:59to better ourselves when we get out of here.
06:16I haven't been able to talk to my daughters, and I fucking miss them.
06:21And we need the doors on lock, for sure, because I can't let my kids down again,
06:28and I can't let myself down again.
06:40We're on lockdown!
06:50They may be off lockdown, but that doesn't mean things are back to normal.
07:12We've taken the phones away as a test, and we're not going to bring them back until we see real
07:16progress from the pod.
07:21The goal is to see that if they want to continue to move in the right direction,
07:25even without the phone calls.
07:27And if these guys are going to continue on the wrong track, I won't hesitate to shut the program down.
07:35It sucks. It's horrible. It's not fucking cool.
07:44You know, all I know is right now, I definitely need to talk to my kid.
07:47So my grandma, she is in the hospital.
07:58I was supposed to call her to check on her and try to talk to her, but now I can't even do that.
08:03Pure use of, we own you, we can do what we want.
08:07Scare tactics.
08:08Scare tactics.
08:10It's going to be, nothing's going to change.
08:14Just because they take the goddamn phones, you know, it's still jail.
08:19I get a little irate and a little pissed off.
08:22I'm there to help them any way I can, but don't make your problem my problem.
08:27I mean, I'm not going to wipe your ass for you.
08:29I'm not going to, you know, carry you to the bathroom so you can throw up.
08:33I'm not doing all that.
08:34You know, I didn't put you in that predicament.
08:36You put yourself there.
08:37So, I don't know what to do, you know.
08:48I wanted to call a pod meeting.
08:55I'm tired of doing the same thing over and over in jail.
08:58You just come to jail and you do nothing.
09:00So, yeah, I have to be a leader, I guess.
09:06Is everybody?
09:11What are we doing?
09:14What are you in here for?
09:16If you're not here to try and better yourself,
09:18you got to ask yourself that.
09:20And if you're doing it all alone, then how are you really getting help?
09:23You got to be helping other people.
09:24Like, I stepped outside my whole comfort zone coming in here.
09:27I'm usually a real loner.
09:29I'm trying to help people and have let people talk to me, bro.
09:32And that shit is way outside of my box.
09:34Look, if you like wearing orange and you like living this lifestyle,
09:38you're going to lay on your rack and not do a fucking thing.
09:40Yeah.
09:40If you want to do something to change it,
09:42any one of you motherfuckers want to do something to change it,
09:44that's what you're going to do, okay?
09:46Because they're handing you a fucking way out of this life right now.
09:50I mean, they weren't doing this fucking five weeks ago, six weeks ago.
09:54I've never seen some shit like this.
09:56I've never even heard about it.
09:59Yeah, I'm with it, I'm with it.
10:01So anybody that's not participating,
10:03what can we do to make it to where you guys do start participating more is what I'm wondering.
10:07Yeah, yeah.
10:09This is something that is not just come and go.
10:12This is something that's going to be here after all of us are gone.
10:15We all have a duty, we all have an obligation, if we're going to be here,
10:19to leave something here for the people behind us.
10:21We don't want this just to be a come-hang-out pie because it's free fucking phones.
10:25Yeah, yeah.
10:26If you're going to be here, show what you're here for.
10:28With other races, like, it don't matter, bro.
10:30We're all in here together and if one person fucks it up,
10:32he's going to fuck it up no matter what.
10:34Exactly.
10:34It ain't about that.
10:35I believe we all should start putting a little bit more in here.
10:38Manitory programs, what's up?
10:39Manitory programs, yeah, we let everybody fill out.
10:41Like, you got to pick a certain class that you want to do and, you know what I mean,
10:44if anybody needs help, ask me, bro.
10:45I'm here for help, bro.
10:46If you need help from me, just ask.
10:48Helping people get GEDs, helping people with classes, parenting classes,
10:54starting small businesses, all these classes.
10:56Don't you want to change and be better and better yourself and find a different curriculum
11:01for yourself to follow instead of following the same ideologies that you've been following
11:06and the same negative philosophies that you've been following and been doing
11:10that have led you to nowhere.
11:23With the experiment's future uncertain, AO continues his efforts to get everyone involved
11:29in working together.
11:31So we're going to be talking kind of, I guess, like, uh, parenting behind bars and, and with,
11:36like, my oldest son, uh, he's starting to idolize this shit.
11:39Every time I talk to him on the phone, he want to hear about the fucking locks and socks
11:43and then the gangsta shit on the yard.
11:45That's what he's into, like, you know what I mean?
11:47I tell him, I read books, player.
11:48I don't do none of that shit.
11:50You know what I mean?
11:50You know what I mean?
11:52KJ helps Jerrel on his path to a GED.
12:04He's a good person.
12:05He's very genuine.
12:06He's actually told me numerous times he's happy that I'm in here with him.
12:14So I just always look after him.
12:15And they've taken the initiative to ask the jail staff for help
12:26in working on their life skills.
12:28Make, make, make, focus.
12:32Thank you, gentlemen.
12:33Those of you that are group leaders, you have several responsibilities.
12:37If your whole team fails, you're responsible.
12:40If your team succeeds, they are responsible.
12:44Yeah.
12:46With the programming and participation, I just think that all of us really that do
12:50recognize you are grateful as fuck for that and understand the work that it takes.
12:53So that shows that we are invested in it and we are mature and understanding of what we need.
12:59This right here is a list of the stuff that is our requirement.
13:04In order to make a change, you got to be willing to make a change.
13:09A lot of these people, they want to better themselves.
13:11They've been doing the same shit for so long and going down the same road
13:13for so long and hitting prisons for so long that they want to change.
13:19But I truly hope that their program does keep going forward.
13:32So what we've been seeing recently is these guys are trying to improve and better themselves.
13:43I've restored phone access because I can see the inmates are not just in it for the benefits,
13:56for what they see as free stuff.
13:58I haven't been able to talk to my daughters, so I really, really got to call and let them know,
14:22you know, like, how much I really do care about them.
14:31Bitch, you do not know how fucking stressed out I've been trying to call you.
14:35Yeah, me and Kaylee, I'm like, I've been older since noon in my time, and I'm like,
14:40I'm like, Kaylee, your dad's going to call.
14:41Is that okay?
14:43My speaker phone?
14:43Hello?
14:44Hey, Kaylee.
14:46Hi.
14:47Are you out of school?
14:49Yeah, you actually called out like the perfect moment because I just got off the bus, actually.
14:52How are you doing at school?
14:53I'm doing good, way better than I did the last two years.
14:58My favorite was always history, social studies, and science when I was in school.
15:04Like, I love history.
15:06I'm a junior in high school right now.
15:08I got my shit together.
15:10Well, sorry, I don't mean to swear, but.
15:13I cuss more than you fucking do, or more than you do.
15:17Mother, she used to not like us swearing in front of her,
15:20but then she realized it was kind of hard not to,
15:22so now she doesn't really care.
15:23One of these days when we call,
15:26I want to tell you about, like, the bullshit that mother does sometimes.
15:31Tell your mom she got out.
15:32No, don't ever tell your mom, man, but.
15:36Did you get my most recent letter?
15:38No, it takes three weeks.
15:41It takes three fucking weeks for me to get it.
15:43So I've been waiting and looking every day, hoping to get it.
15:46It's crazy.
15:48Fucking awesome.
15:50Fucking amazing.
15:51Like, she's doing great.
15:53And she's confiding in me, too, which is amazing.
15:56My boyfriend got me some flowers and a stuffed animal.
16:00And a stuffed animal.
16:02That's awesome.
16:03She's going on a field trip.
16:05She's going skydiving, indoor skydiving.
16:07And I can't wait to hear about that on Monday when I get to call her.
16:10And this is positivity after positivity.
16:13I'm not going astray.
16:27Roll up, roll up, stephens right, yeah Russell, and slap, stephens on five first, stephens
16:57A population of the Pinal County Jail is constantly changing. The majority of the participants for this experiment are people that are waiting and finishing out their sentences, or they're waiting to be transferred to prison. I hope they keep moving forward. I hope for them that they realize that the old ways didn't work, the new ways are better, and then spread that as they move out to whatever population they move to.
17:23I'm headed to DOC, and I've been sentenced for five years, but there's some level-headed individuals in there that are going to hold it down just fine.
17:36When someone gets sentenced to DOC, the farewell isn't really until they pop our door and they say, so roll up, you're going to prison.
17:49Let's go!
17:50At that point, you know, we say our goodbyes.
17:54I love you, bro. I love you, bro. Take care of yourself, please.
18:00Things shifted a lot in our dorm through this program. Getting close to each other and, like, just talking about each other's lives and wanting to do better.
18:10And there's a lot more to life than just going back to the same stuff we know how to do.
18:17Let's go, guys. Let's have your time to do that already.
18:20I have faith in the program. You know, I really do.
18:23Mostly since I've been here, I just feel like I'm more caring, you know, about, like, what's going to happen to me.
18:31I feel like I still have a chance to, like, do something with my life afterwards, you know, to make something of myself.
18:41And, like, I'm going to try to do that.
18:46Bring yourself out.
18:46Bring it up.
18:47Yep.
18:47I'm seeing all my friends go to prison, and it takes a toll on me because it, like, it's hard for me to lose people.
18:58Most of the main people in my life that actually cared about me and have been there for me, um, most of them are gone.
19:06And I need this program, the sheriff's program.
19:09I need it to stay on track for numerous reasons, so I don't know how that's going to go.
19:13I need it to stay on track for numerous reasons, so I don't know how that's going to go.
19:44Hey, Grandma, how you doing?
19:46You getting better?
19:48I'm doing good.
19:50Well, I'm happy to hear that.
19:52Yeah, for me, my favorite perk by far is the free phone calls.
19:56My granny, that's my best friend, I don't think it's a thing that I haven't talked to my grandma about in my life.
20:01Well, I'm going to keep fighting my case and try to get home as soon as possible, but you got to keep fighting so that I can see you again, Grandma.
20:07Yeah, I'm not giving up. I'm still trying to find ways to come home.
20:18I'm charged with armed robbery, the probation violation, and unlawful flight.
20:22And I could be looking at it from 16 to 37.5 years if I'm guilty.
20:29All right, I love you, Grandma.
20:31Love you too, baby.
20:32All right, thanks, Grandma.
20:33My grandma, she's one of the last people I really have to support me.
20:40I'm the oldest out of seven, but at 14, we lost both our parents.
20:45And nobody really knows what happened.
20:51It's kind of like a big mystery.
20:54We found out on the news before word got to us.
20:58They portrayed the story of a homicide-suicide.
21:02They tried to say that my mom had killed my dad and then drove herself into a lake.
21:06Certain things were kind of clouded, but I just choose to go with the news and story just because it stops me from wondering.
21:23One minute they're here, the next day they're gone, and it's never going to be the same.
21:31I thought my life was over.
21:33We moved to my grandparents' house.
21:36And they took in seven kids.
21:40My granny, like, she's the one that helped me be strong when my parents died.
21:44She was the one that told me, like, I needed to be a man.
21:46Everybody's going to be looking to me in this situation.
21:48And that it's okay to cry.
21:52Just don't let anyone see me down.
21:56She's my partner in crime.
21:58She's my advisor.
21:59She's one of my best friends.
22:02She just got placed on hospice.
22:04And now I'm missing precious time that I could be spending with my grandmother.
22:08But she taught me how to fight for myself.
22:13And she told me that I can't ever give up.
22:17So I hope that you choose to keep fighting.
22:20Like, I've lost a lot of people in my life.
22:22I don't want to bury anybody more than I have to.
22:25I'm a big guy.
22:50You know what I mean?
22:51I'm a big guy.
22:52I like to, I like my Zuzu's and Wab Wabs.
22:54I like to eat, you know.
22:57The commissary comes in, you know, we get some soups and stuff.
23:00Throw that up in there.
23:01Some coffee.
23:02Eat that up.
23:04And enjoy.
23:06Commissary is the opportunity to buy food that is not provided to them in their three square meals a day.
23:10It's something that they might find simple comfort in or buy a specific hygiene product that is not provided to them.
23:19I mean, I love goodies, but it can lead to problems sometimes.
23:23I don't get too much money from home to get a few extra foods here and there.
23:42So I have a lot of dads.
23:44Food is used for quite a few things.
24:03Currency.
24:04It's definitely currency in here.
24:06Every dollar counts.
24:07So we've got the cheese right here.
24:13That'll work.
24:14You won't be here.
24:15Yes, I will.
24:16If you don't, I'll cover him if you don't.
24:20You know what I mean?
24:21He's my bro.
24:22I like him.
24:22Yeah, yeah.
24:23All right.
24:24He fucks with me.
24:25He fucks with you, I guess.
24:26I'll take it.
24:26I trust my brother.
24:28Yeah.
24:28Yeah.
24:29He fucks with you.
24:30He takes care of all of you.
24:32The dangers of having deaths.
24:35A lot of things can happen.
24:36Either you can get rolled out, beat up, or pay your debt.
24:48So my nickname Cash, I got Cash blasted.
24:51It's the tattooed on my chest right here.
24:53I'm all about making money for sure.
24:55But I hustle a lot in here.
24:56I have my own store.
25:01Good.
25:02I'm in everybody's pocket.
25:04I'm in everybody's pocket.
25:05Because every item is different.
25:07So like you meet for soups, that's a dollar.
25:10They'll owe me two soups back.
25:12I got Barlow on my head.
25:14That's only me five bucks.
25:17R-Man's, cowboy.
25:19KJ's still at 40.
25:20I've been here six months, bro.
25:21I know what's going on.
25:22You know, like, that's all you got in here is your word.
25:24And if you ain't got a word that ain't worth the shit,
25:26then you're going to have a hell of a time in here.
25:28So yeah, you're going to choose.
25:31Yeah, you're either going to do the right thing or not.
25:32Oh, yeah, man.
25:33It's me, man.
25:34Money, man.
25:35I ain't getting money all day.
25:36You know what I'm saying?
25:37I ain't getting money.
25:38I ain't getting money.
25:39We're about to get it.
25:40Get it.
25:40All right, guys.
25:51So program's moving.
25:52Some hiccups.
25:53But for the most part, experiment so far is working.
25:56This is what I'm thinking next.
25:58Thinking about giving them free commissary
26:00as their next perk.
26:02At this point in the process of the experiment,
26:05things are going well.
26:06So one of the things I'm looking towards
26:08is providing them with commissary for free.
26:10Inmates pay for their commissary,
26:14and their families can put money on their books.
26:16You got the guys that they can buy everything in the world,
26:19and then we got some guys that, I mean,
26:21we all know inmates that make poor life choices
26:23that sell their medications so they can get a honey bun
26:27or something.
26:28A lot of these guys that do have money
26:30like to strong-arm stuff and sell stuff on their own.
26:33They'll order a bunch of stuff and then kind of sell it
26:36and barter for it.
26:37Sometimes people get into debt with commissary
26:41because their family's not able to put money on their books.
26:45So as far as that goes, giving them free commissary,
26:48what we're hoping for is this equals it out,
26:51and we don't allow the powerful to prey on the needy.
26:56You guys see some negatives with putting money on their books?
26:59Because they are going to ask for more.
27:01Yeah, well, it's 50.
27:02Why can't we go to 70, 75?
27:05So it ain't lasting long, you know.
27:08So we just have to make sure and let them know.
27:10Set that standard.
27:11Yeah.
27:11I think they definitely fell over for each.
27:13I think anything that they feel that they can get,
27:16they're going to try and get.
27:17I mean, anything you offer them, they're going to take,
27:19and then they're going to want more.
27:21And that's exactly what they've been doing.
27:23You keep abusing it, and we'll take that commissary way.
27:27I'm standing.
27:28Let's see what we can do.
27:29Cool.
27:43We have something going on right now.
27:45Is that easy?
27:45Oh, shit.
27:46New announcement.
27:47I'm sure.
27:47Each inmate will receive $50 on their commissary book for the week.
27:55In addition, there is no issues in the pod.
27:57Inmates will receive another $50 on their book for the program.
28:00What?
28:01What the fuck?
28:07Fuck, yeah.
28:11They're giving you free money in here.
28:13Who does that?
28:14Who gives you free money?
28:15Nowhere do, on any yard, do they give you $50 a week on your commissary.
28:19I'm just happy we're going to get $53.
28:21Yeah.
28:24That's new share for town, y'all.
28:26Game time, right?
28:28I tell you, these motherfuckers come in and play, man.
28:31Kobe clubs.
28:33Kobe and the Bull quarter clubs.
28:34Hey, dog.
28:36Putting money on our books helps you more financially in here
28:38so that you can focus on growth and development and improving yourself.
28:43Even the people that get money, you know,
28:44that's less money that they're going to ask for their family.
28:46You know, motherfuckers that don't get shit like me,
28:48that's fucking just insane and amazing.
28:52You know, and like, that shit don't happen.
28:54Right, Armand?
28:55It does not happen ever.
28:58Definitely get some pouches.
28:59Yeah, okay.
29:00I got one of each of those.
29:01Good job.
29:01I got two envelopes, but I don't have no paper.
29:04No, I got paper, man.
29:05Okay.
29:05I got paper and pen.
29:08Can I get a stamped envelope?
29:09I got two.
29:10Okay, good.
29:11Okay.
29:12Good.
29:12Okay, go down.
29:13Coffee?
29:13No, no, get some soap because you need some hygiene, bro.
29:17You don't got no hygiene.
29:17All right, we got like a couple bucks left.
29:19Let me get some soups.
29:20Get you a bar of soap, man.
29:21Okay.
29:21You know, this is the first time I got the shot.
29:24So that was awesome.
29:27The $50 was freaking amazing.
29:28The phone calls, I mean, everything about this program
29:31is just above and beyond anything that I ever thought
29:35I would be able to see while incarcerated.
29:37All right, hot sauce.
29:39All right, there we go.
29:39Good.
29:40Good job.
29:40No, submit, submit.
29:42Check out.
29:42Woo!
29:43Done, baby, done.
29:4436 cents left.
29:46All right, so save that for next week.
29:48You know, you got a bunch of hungry guys
29:52that, you know, don't have two nickels built together.
29:55What gives guys, you know, the chance to sit back
29:58and have a different mindset about what it is
30:01that we're going through.
30:02I'm going to make sure that there's no problems in the pod
30:05so we can get the other 50.
30:07The perks are wonderful.
30:09On my $50, I use that by paying debts and everything.
30:14But next time, I'm actually spending 50 on myself,
30:17which is a very good thing.
30:19I think everyone here is bad
30:21and they're just going to kick the fuck back, bro.
30:23I don't think you even got to tell them about it.
30:24That's free money, dog.
30:25You kick it back.
30:26That even makes me want to kick back, dog.
30:27Yeah.
30:38This call is from a correction facility
30:40and is subject to monitoring and recording.
30:44Hey, Tim.
30:46Hey.
30:47What's going on?
30:48I'm at school.
30:51Have you heard from me, Mom?
30:53Yeah.
30:55Grandma died yesterday.
31:05Yeah.
31:05It's hard, but, like, my best friend for real.
31:25So, look up, Liz,
31:28that she's not suffering anymore.
31:30Don't be crying in front of all them people.
31:36They don't think you're strong.
31:38I don't care about that.
31:40I can't help you.
31:45I know I'm going to break.
31:49I know.
31:50Grandma's strong.
31:51There's a different type of strong, huh?
31:52The free phone calls let the inmates
32:06reconnect with their family.
32:08But the big downside of it is you don't know
32:11what the family member on the other side of the phone
32:12is going to be discussing.
32:14They might get bad news.
32:17Sometimes inmates' behavior definitely
32:19is a direct result of situations
32:21or circumstances that happen outside the prison.
32:24Everybody got their $50
32:53which is phenomenal.
32:55That's great shit, right?
32:56And everybody was like,
32:57a kid in a candy store.
33:00The store's here.
33:04I bought Sour Patch Kids.
33:09I bought corn chips.
33:16Me and my daughter used to eat those a lot.
33:18Like, my daughter Jada.
33:20When I eat them, it puts me in a, you know,
33:22it's closest to the, closest to the free world
33:25that I'm going to get as of right now.
33:30They're all coffee.
33:32They're all coffee.
33:33You know, people will be running around,
33:35running upstairs, you know,
33:37doing their thing, being them, you know,
33:39being their self.
33:40I'll be able to capitalize on that
33:51when everybody runs out.
33:56Since the $50 hit,
33:57I have no debts right now.
33:59$50, $60, $70, $18.
34:00I have had less people come to me, but it's supply and demand.
34:05I'll be able to capitalize on that when everybody runs out,
34:08and so I'm not worried about that.
34:10Murphy, Henry!
34:12Murphy!
34:17It's not bad.
34:19Four months, and I finally get short.
34:22You fucking earned that wood!
34:24Super fucking happy.
34:26Like, being able to just have your name called out there
34:29and they understand that you got something more than a state issue,
34:32you know, that gives you further, and, like, it's just amazing.
34:34It makes time a lot easier, and, like, for sure,
34:36like, the little things that matter, you know?
34:39Yeah, put it in your box, bro.
34:41That's, hey.
34:42Yeah, copy.
34:44Yeah, dude.
34:45There's more you need, bro.
34:47So just to be a part of that and see this, you know,
34:49like, shows me that things are changing.
34:51It makes me not excited to be in jail,
34:53but excited to be a part of changing it,
34:55and it's fucking amazing, and just thank you, sheriff, people.
34:57It's fucking amazing.
35:02We worked hard to get what we got.
35:04Honestly, we have, and it's not easy being in a pod
35:07where you don't have to turn the other cheek,
35:09but you have to rethink everything that you're doing,
35:14opposed to the norm jail way is, you know,
35:17snatch somebody up and take them to the shower
35:18and beat the brakes off them.
35:20Hopefully this keeps going and nobody fucks it up, you know?
35:23It's as simple as that.
35:24Don't need to speak.
35:25No, wait, let me get the honeymoon out.
35:27Oh, wait, I got a honeymoon.
35:28You got a honeymoon?
35:28All right.
35:29Maddie said that it's probably best that she told me,
35:41because Maddie kind of got me somewhat over the hump.
35:44Because she's like,
35:45nobody really ever wants to tell me when someone dies.
35:48Do I really have that bad of a time
35:49dealing with it when people die?
35:51You do, Jay.
35:52You really do.
35:53But you're there, you're not here, and I get it.
35:58And it's harder for you, and I understand that
36:01because you can't physically be with us.
36:04Mm-hmm.
36:07I just want you to keep your head up.
36:11No, I'm not going to be able to do that, but I'll try.
36:16You're going to have to do it for your granny
36:17because you know your granny would not want you doing this.
36:20She wants you to listen to what she told you.
36:22You keep your head up, you do your programs,
36:24you get the hell out of there.
36:26And you got to do that for her, Justin.
36:29It started sinking in.
36:33I don't got no parents.
36:35I don't got no authority in my life.
36:36I really don't.
36:37The law can't even be my authority
36:39because what they're going to do is send me to prison.
36:40It's not like it's going to bring nobody back.
36:42Like, shit, I go to prison for a million years right now
36:44if God give me three hours with my parents.
36:48Or just one more conversation with my granny,
36:51just one more conversation.
36:56Her dying don't just mean that she died
36:58and she's not going to be here.
36:59It's like I died, too.
37:10Last call for me.
37:12As the unit settles in for the evening,
37:15officers enter the pod for the final med call.
37:18Hey, the ball stays on the record.
37:21Okay, go ahead.
37:24Right here.
37:25Verified.
37:26Fine, I'll just take it.
37:27Justin.
37:28Are you guys going to play with this outside?
37:30Hey!
37:33Cool.
37:34All right.
37:35A few more weeks just left.
37:36That's all it lasts.
37:37Man, man.
37:38We were bouncing the ball across the table,
37:41but I guess she didn't like that.
37:43And she wants to come in and threaten us,
37:47say, oh, I can't wait till this is over.
37:50I would like for her to talk to the captain.
37:52All right, guys, just line up.
37:54Miss, can I have your badge number?
37:55Yeah, 07.
37:56207.
37:58Perfect.
38:00I'm not even a little bit nervous about her.
38:02So you can go kick her off over there.
38:04I ain't scared.
38:06What?
38:06Woo!
38:08Get it.
38:10Because they went for the fuck with us, bro.
38:11Her husband cheated on her on Valentine's Day.
38:16She's taking it out on me.
38:18And some used to not be able to cope with it,
38:20but that day, I had enough.
38:22I can't just go for the bullshit they've been giving to me.
38:24I'm fine.
38:25You guys cannot do that.
38:30I want to be a real bitch.
38:33Hey, guys.
38:34Badge number is 207.
38:36Hey, my quick.
38:37My badge number is 207.
38:39I ain't scared.
38:40Yeah, why is she so serious, man?
38:41We're just having fun.
38:43I'm never worried.
38:44Oh, okay.
38:46Get it, girl.
38:47Look, don't get mad at me.
38:49Thank you, Lord.
38:50I'm going to pray for you.
38:51Come here.
38:52Let's go.
38:55If you're leaving the pod, go get your stuff.
38:58I'm not driving my...
38:59What's your cell?
39:00What's your cell?
39:01Oh, you guys have that in your system.
39:02That's cool.
39:03I will get your stuff.
39:03No problem.
39:04Come over here.
39:04Come on out.
39:05Turn around.
39:05Leave on your back.
39:06Turn around.
39:07You're good.
39:07No, outside the pod.
39:09There we go.
39:10The inmates aren't thinking they're getting freedom.
39:13They're thinking they don't have to follow the rules.
39:16So here they are and doing whatever they want.
39:19So if we got to come back in and try and control the atmosphere again, then we control the atmosphere.
39:24She took it upon herself to fucking pull him out and now make a roll up for what?
39:29Roll up for what?
39:31When you get to the yard and you start talking to the COs like that, motherfuckers, it's going to be different.
39:35Yeah.
39:36It's going to be totally fucking different.
39:37Like, oh, yeah, go ahead and do that.
39:39Yeah.
39:39Especially being young and not knowing when to shut up.
39:42You know what I mean?
39:43And at the end of the day, that's what it boils down to, man.
39:45You made your point.
39:47You know, you should have just went back in the cut and just kept it quiet and nothing else would have been coming.
39:51You know, but you just got to be fucking a grown-up about the whole situation.
39:56And it's the whole part about being in this program is being a grown-up, correct?
39:59Yeah.
40:04You can't just go, really, the only one I really talk to or go up to because he's making me want to get dangerous at this car.
40:11I don't like that shit.
40:12I don't, like, have to be like that.
40:14That's a bitchy.
40:17Close it.
40:18Oh, she was on a power trip, and she claims that I was disruptive.
40:24My whole world was, like, crashing down on me.
40:27And it's like, you know, I'm a human just like you.
40:30You got a family.
40:31I got a family.
40:33I'm going through a lot of things on my own.
40:36My grandma, she'll speak her mind, and she doesn't give a fuck how you feel about it.
40:40My granny, she was a fighter.
40:41That's why I'm like that.
40:44But I'm not evil.
40:47Clearance for one.
40:48We get five-oh-one-roll.
40:51Cunningham, you know the things to do.
40:57He didn't do shit wrong.
41:01They're just thinking that because the bitch didn't want to give the badge number to get written up,
41:06so she should roll him up for no fucking reason.
41:09No reason.
41:10Cry baby.
41:11She's a cry baby.
41:13Yeah.
41:13Yeah.
41:15When KJ left, Jarrell, he was hurt.
41:20He was going to jail the honey real quick.
41:22Fuck these niggas.
41:43Come here.
41:44You.
41:45Now.
41:45Right there.
41:57Well, he's just spitting on the window saying he's going to find us, so.
42:11What's going on, Jarrell?
42:12What happened?
42:13You guys, he's done.
42:16I can't interview him?
42:16No.
42:17He is done.
42:18You're going to punch him.
42:20They've got my plan.
42:20That's on my kids.
42:21Okay.
42:22You're going to punch who?
42:23I don't want to give them an audience.
42:28From here, I'll have to talk with my command staff, including Sheriff Teeple.
42:32This is something he's not going to tolerate.
42:35Take the back wall.
42:36He was very, very adamant about it, that at no point in time will he threaten any staff member in this agency.
42:43That's just bullshit.
42:44And now, look, we were all happy having fun, and now we're all pissed off.
43:11There's nothing off that this is nothing.
43:13Hey, I'm over it.
43:18Over it.
43:20Remember when she turns up over this whole situation?
43:24That's just going to make things worse.
43:27There's consequences to that.
43:31Hey, tell them y'all when you're going running.
43:37I'm through it.
43:40There's nothing off that this is nothing.
43:47There's nothing on that this is nothing.
43:59There's nothing off that this is nothing.
44:01Is he happy?
44:03Is he happy?
44:07Is he happy?
44:08There's something awful but this is the hate.
44:31If you would not like to drink and drink while drinking like Ed-Dviewer of saber tears.
44:41On top of Google Iragente dot com, I без veils.
44:44Uh huh.
44:45I'd be happy at the instant.
44:48So if you're lawyer and that's Asípia, if you don't like us.
44:51I don't.
44:54Open the meeting.
44:57I think it feels like you've должны be to be educated.
