00:00Dude's key, come on.
00:03Ah!
00:03Ah!
00:07Every football season brings highs.
00:10Yes!
00:11Rock and roll!
00:12And lows.
00:14Every week, though, there's no excuse for that.
00:17Oh, no.
00:18It's time to buy or sell.
00:21I turn up the center!
00:22It's Texans stock up, stock down on the drive with Sterner and Hughley.
00:29I'm going to pump those numbers up.
00:30Those are rookie numbers in this racket.
00:34It is stock up, stock down on the drive.
00:36We got a Texans wild card edition, a playoff edition of stocks for these Houston Texans live on the drive.
00:43I'm going to start with you, Ron, the show Hughley.
00:46You know how I do.
00:47I like to get the negatives out of the way.
00:48Let's focus on the good later.
00:50So for all you sensitive-ass listeners out there, I think it's just one or two of you.
00:54Hold tight.
00:55We'll get through stock down.
00:56I think it's more like 6'7".
00:586'7".
01:00We'll do stock down.
01:02Just hold your horses.
01:04Calm down.
01:04We'll get to stock up.
01:06So we're on the show Hughley as the Texans head to Pittsburgh for a Monday night matchup against the Steelers in the wild card round.
01:13Stock down for you for the Texans.
01:16Yeah, my stock down is one of the best players, arguably the best player on their team.
01:20And that is Derrick Stingley Jr.
01:24Woo!
01:25He is a great player, an all-pro, maybe an all-pro for the second streak year, although I think there has been some slippage from last year.
01:36He's still a great player.
01:37He was not great on Sunday.
01:42And for this team, they need their great players, especially their great players on defense, to play that way for this team to give itself the best chance to win.
01:55And, I mean, he was getting beat by Pierce.
02:03Hell, there was a sequence on one of the Pierce touchdowns.
02:07He got beat on second down on one side of the end zone by Pittman.
02:12Pittman just dropped it for the second time.
02:15And then the very next play, he got beat in the end zone by Pierce.
02:19And it's one-on-one, and we're not accustomed to seeing that.
02:22And there were just – there were some moments in Sunday's game.
02:26It was a half.
02:27I know maybe there's an excuse of he wasn't really into it.
02:30That's generally not how the Texans approach things.
02:33But they need Derrick Stingley and their great players to be great.
02:38And Alex Pierce – Alec Pierce and Pittman aren't supposed to beat him the way they did at times in that game on Sunday.
02:50So, stocked down to Derrick Stingley.
02:52I'm certain he will turn it around on Monday.
02:56But that was disappointing to watch one of the best players in football get beat by, I think – you know, all right, dudes.
03:07Stocked down for Ron La Show Hughley as Derrick Stingley Jr. heading into Wild Card Weekend for the former NFL quarterback, Mr. Clint Sterner.
03:16Dirty Reds stocked down in your view for the Houston Texans right now preparing for the Steelers.
03:21Man, I'm going to go with Kayvon Wallace.
03:22I think he is – he's still kind of dangling out there, boys.
03:26I mean, I –
03:26That's a good one.
03:27I still think this is – I still think this is one where unless something that happened behind closed doors that we're not privy to forced this release and was the reason they chose him,
03:38I've got to believe that there's conversations that have been had and he will be back and his status with the team will not change.
03:44However, the longer it stays hangling, dangling, hangling out there, the more I worry about it.
03:51Hangling?
03:51I say stocked down for Kayvon Wallace just because, hell, I thought starter for sure.
03:59I mean, fits the damn swarm mentality like a glove.
04:06And I know there's some people out there that maybe think that his performance this week left a lot to be desired.
04:12I mean, even if you're that – even if that's the case, I mean, what are your options?
04:17I mean, you're down several safeties this year.
04:20I don't know.
04:20So, Kayvon Wallace is my – clearly his stock down.
04:23And even if it is just a roster manipulation play, boy, that's a risky move with a guy that's getting some runs.
04:31Yeah, when you ain't on the team no more, yeah, I got you.
04:33That's a stock down.
04:35You are tuned in to Stock Up, Stock Down every Wednesday right here on The Drive with Sterner and Hughley.
04:40About 3.30 every hump day, we're doing a wild card edition, playoff edition for these Houston Texans going to Pittsburgh.
04:47Stock Down's out of the way, hangling out there for you to go back and listen to if you want it.
04:51But back over to you, Lee, and listen here, sensitive ass out there on my text line.
04:58Stock Up, that means positive, in your view, Ron.
05:03I got to go with Xavier Hudson.
05:05You just can't – I mean, you just can't kill that guy.
05:10There have been multiple occasions I thought he was not going to be on the roster.
05:16There were multiple occasions if he was on the roster,
05:18I thought he was going to be nothing more than a special teams guy.
05:22And he had a nice game, big chunk play down the sideline where he caught across the middle
05:27and started running away from people, which sometimes I wonder, is that his game?
05:31But he's able to do it.
05:33And, hell, he's been the best of the Iowa State players.
05:36He's been the most consistent of the Iowa State players.
05:39It don't matter.
05:39You go draft Jaden – you draft Higgins in the second round, your first pick of the draft.
05:48Still doesn't knock him down.
05:49You go and get Noel.
05:51Still don't knock him down.
05:53Who was my man from John –
05:55John Carroll?
05:57No, from Alabama, who they traded away.
05:59Mechie.
06:00John Mechie.
06:00Draft him.
06:01Uh-uh.
06:02Don't matter.
06:03He's going to give it to you.
06:04Yeah, he survived – he survived Stephon Diggs, everybody.
06:10And he still is a major part of this offense, and he deserves to be.
06:15He has been – that is a really good pick for Nick – you're right.
06:19That's a really good pick for Nick Casario the way that's worked out for him.
06:22There you go.
06:22Xavier Hutchinson, stock up, and he's been a big part of this offense,
06:26and I think we'll continue in this playoff run.
06:28Dude just can't die.
06:29And back to you, Clint Sterner.
06:31I'm going to put a little bit on this thing.
06:33Houston Texans as they prepare for the Steelers on Monday night
06:36and a wild card matchup.
06:38This is an easy one for me, man.
06:39I'm going Tommy Togiai.
06:40I mean, look, obviously it's low-hanging fruit on a day like this
06:44where – or after a game like this where he scores a touchdown,
06:48it's easy to go with him.
06:50But I think the conversation around Tommy Togiai has changed.
06:53He's no longer a one-year, $3 million guy.
06:56He's no longer the fourth-round pick, I believe,
06:59by the Cleveland Browns that bounced around in their organization
07:02and the Falcons organization
07:03and kind of was just a late pickup, a late add, a depth player.
07:09He's no longer that guy.
07:10That conversation, the thought of like, oh, boy, this Tommy Togiai guy,
07:14boy, he's really helping us and he's really – he had a good game.
07:17No, I think when you watch his play beyond the touchdown,
07:20when you watch his play, I mean, he is a really, really, really good player.
07:25We've heard D'Amico Ryans talk about how important he is to the D-line room
07:31and ultimately the defensive unit.
07:35Is he their best interior D-lineman?
07:36Yes.
07:37He's better – you think he does more than Sheldon Rankins?
07:41Yeah.
07:41I was going to say, for that to even to be a conversation.
07:46Yeah.
07:46And I don't think it's just because Tim Settle's injured, Foley's injured,
07:50all the rest of them.
07:51Like, we've watched all those guys play over the last several years.
07:55There is an argument that Tommy, his play has been better than all of those guys.
08:02Well, I mean, he fits in a mold with maybe two other guys that are really built
08:07and to do what they're asked to do, and he's really, really good at it.
08:10The bottom line is this.
08:11The conversation has just changed significantly.
08:15I mean, I'd be shocked if he's not a guy they give a multi-year deal to
08:18and that he's not here longer term.
08:20I'm not saying he's going to break the bank,
08:22but I don't think he's any longer a one-year guy.
08:24I don't think he's any longer a journeyman that kind of just snuck in,
08:28you know, slipped through the cracks with a couple of other organizations
08:30and they picked him up.
08:31I think the conversation around him is he is a key player on this defense moving forward.
08:35He was in the hurt highness Khalil Davis kind of range there.
08:40Like, oh, man, that's a big pickup that you didn't expect to wear, like –
08:44like, if he got hurt, and not just because of the injuries already there,
08:50but if he got hurt, that would be a huge loss.
08:54Like, even if Settle was healthy, Foley was healthy, if he got hurt,
08:58that would be a huge loss.
09:00And that is – that is Tommy.
09:03He is –
09:04The arrow's pointed up.
09:05Way up.
09:06Way up.
09:06And you might have to point something more than arrows up with him.
09:10You might have to point some zeros there, Cal.
09:13Not to spend your money, but –
09:15Hold on, show.
09:17Your wife's out here calling big plays fine.
09:20You might have to – you might have to pay him a little cash.
09:23Be happy about it.
