00:05is something that Donald Trump is trying to put out as a warning to possibly other countries?
00:14Well, yes, but I think it should be taken into red in light of the December 2025 national security strategy,
00:21which makes it very clear that the United States is not interested in intervention in countries,
00:27although there will be brief interventionist activity conducted when U.S. core national security interests are seen to be threatened,
00:39especially in the Western Hemisphere.
00:41I think that that document deserves quite serious focus.
00:45And we are seeing this play out in Venezuela,
00:49and we're seeing the United States undertake these activities really in a very textbook fashion
00:57because, as you've seen, the president has stated we're not interested in destabilizing the country.
01:03We're not interested in nation-building.
01:05This is an interest-based operation where the United States is talking about ending the threat of narco-terrorism,
01:12as the president has described it, of removing the control of adversaries
01:17over a massive economic pool of Venezuela's oil, China's influence,
01:23also removing Cubans and Iranians from something so close to the U.S. soil.
01:28That's a very interest-based approach.
01:30But democracy is something that he's leaving up to the Venezuelans to achieve,
01:35and that will take some time.
01:37And he's not going to destabilize Venezuela with a massive U.S. footprint
01:42in a rushed approach to achieve that.
01:46Again, this is laid out in the National Security Strategy in December.
