00:00The very first expressway of India is Mumbai-Pune Expressway which connects the cultural capital of India Pune to the financial capital of India Mumbai with a 94.6 km BQC Road
00:30And today we are going to discuss about the missing link project of this expressway.
00:35But before we start, happy new year to all of you and your beloved ones.
00:39And welcome to the channel of Drone Constructions, here we try to present you the best footages
00:44of construction work that is happening all over India.
00:47So if you are new to this channel, please do subscribe and hit that bell notification.
01:00So when there was already a expressway available, what was the reasons that leads to the construction
01:12of this missing link project?
01:14Well, if he lives in Mumbai or Pune, there are two ways to travel between these two major
01:19cities.
01:20Number 1 is National Highway number 4 and number 2 is the Mumbai Pune Expressway.
01:26But both these roads merged at a Khandala Ghati point by a 19km patch.
01:31And that leads to the traffic congestion of 6 lane to 8 lane.
01:37And due to that, the 50% of the accidents on this expressway happened here.
01:42Well, not only this, as this 19km patch is the Khandala Ghati area, in monsoons, there
01:48were a lot of rockfalls and landsides happened due to heavy rain.
01:53And that leads to the huge traffic jam and accidents.
01:59And that is why MSRDC decided to build this missing link project.
02:20Talking about the missing link, the missing link will be 13.3km in length against the
02:25old 19km road.
02:28This project has two parts.
02:30Number 1 is the missing link itself and number 2 is the road widening from Kalapur Toll to
02:36Khopoli exit, making the 6 lane road to 8 lane road.
02:40And this will save the travel time by 25 minutes and travel distance by 5.7km.
02:55Talking about the missing link route, if you are coming from Mumbai, first, the Kalapur
02:59toll to Khopoli will be 8 lane.
03:14Then you will be heading towards a 770m bridge parallel to the existing highway.
03:35Then you will go through the 1.6km twin tunnel.
03:45After exiting the tunnel, you will get to the 645m long Kevil Strait Bridge, the main attraction
03:52of this project, as it will be at a height of 150m from the ground level.
04:02The
04:28After crossing this bridge, he will be heading towards another tunnel which is 8.9 km long
04:37and probably this will be the longest tunnel of Maharashtra.
04:41Well, there is also another tunnel which is 8.1 km long also under construction under
04:48Nagpur Mumbai Expressway project.
04:50So if you want to know about this, please check the above link or below in the description.
04:58Coming back to the Messing Link Tunnel, this 8.89 km tunnel will be passing through Lonavla
05:08at a depth of approximately 150 m below the ground level.
05:28And it will be also crossing the famous Lonavla lake below 150 m of the ground level.
05:37Well, the company that is working here are Akfons Infrastructure Ltd and Navigae Engineering
05:44on an EPC module.
05:45Both these companies are known for the best tunnel jobs.
05:49The cost of this project is 6,695.36 crores.
05:54And about the progress, all the work is being carried out in full force.
05:58The tunnel excavation is almost completed, both the bridges work is under progress.
06:04And as per government, they want the best quality structure to be built.
06:08And there are four stages, wind testing, proof consultant, the IIT and authority engineers.
06:16And only after taking all the commendations and eliminating all technical problems, they
06:20want to ensure the bridges work.
06:23Though there were many challenges hit this project like Covid pandemic, still the prime target
06:29to complete this project will be March 2023.
