00:00The fastest expressway of India with a top speed of 150 km per hour,

00:06which will connect Nagpur to Mumbai in just 8 hours.

00:09Yes, we are talking about Nagpur-Mumbai Expressway.

00:12Today we will discuss about some interesting fact about this expressway,

00:17which you might know or might not know.

00:49Fact 1. Initially the name of this expressway was Nagpur-Mumbai Super Communication Expressway,

00:55but later in 2019, it changed to the official name as Hindu Hrudesh Samrath Bala Saheb Thakpe,

01:02Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarkh.

01:08Fact 2. This will be the fastest and second longest expressway in India with a top speed of 150 km per hour.

01:16But not everywhere. The maximum speed will be 150 at plain terrain,

01:21whereas the maximum speed will be 120 at slope terrain.

01:30Fact 3. This is the bad news for the bike riders.

01:33As the maximum speed of this expressway is 150 km per hour,

01:37so there will be chances of accident. And that's why as per government,

01:412 wheelers will not be allowed in this expressway.

01:49Fact 4. So many people think about that 15 meter extra space

01:54that is provided in the expressway. So actually this expressway is a 6 lane expressway,

01:59which can be upgraded to 8 lane. That is why that 15 meter wide median is there,

02:04so that in future if they want to extend it to 8 lane, so that space will be helpful.

02:14Fact 5. The entire project cost was earlier finalized at 46,000 crore rupees. However,

02:21with further developments in the construction planning and land pooling, the total project cost was then

02:27increased to 55,335 crore rupees, making it one of the promising mega projects in the history of Maharashtra.

02:40Fact 6. 20 plus Krushi Samruddinagar as new towns equipped with modern amenities,

02:47agro-based industries, and a commercial hub will be developed at the intersections.

02:53and MSRDC will act as a new town development authority known as NTDA for the development of

03:01these new towns that will be developed along the expressway.

03:07Fact 7. To make such a huge construction work, lot of trees has been destroyed.

03:13But to maintain the environment, Comet will do plantation along the expressway, which includes

03:1912.68 lakhs of trees, 12.87 lakhs of plants, and 3.27 lakhs of shrubs.

03:26And the cost of this entire green beautification will be 900 crore.

03:34Fact 8. Well, to complete this project, huge quantity of earthwork was required.

03:41And this huge quantity of earthwork was extracted from water conservation activities like

03:47deepening of percolation tanks, irrigation tanks, widening of existing nalas, and construction of

03:53farm ponds.

03:57Fact 9. As the top speed of this expressway is 150 km per hour, there will be chances of accidents.

04:04To control fatality and emergency situations, many CCTV cameras and telephone boats will be installed

04:11in every 5 km along this expressway.

04:17Fact 10. The 7.7 km twin tunnels between Kasara Ghat and Igatpuri

04:23will be the longest tunnel in all over Maharashtra.

04:29Fact 11. In need at times like emergency, natural disaster, or military operations,

04:35the expressway shall facilitate first incident response and military readiness by temporarily

04:42converting the expressway into a runway to land or take off airplanes.

04:50Fact 12. For the first time in Maharashtra, a single-layer concrete paving machine has been used

04:57for the 15-meter width of the road concrete slabs on either side of the highway.

05:02Fact 13. Out of the 33 major bridges that are being built along this expressway,

05:115 bridges at Nagpur, Varda, Nasik, Buldhana, and Dhane will have theme-based iconic designs.

05:19The Varda bridge will be designed as Chakra representing Make in India concept and homage to

05:26Mahatma Gandhi. The bridge in Buldhana will showcase a bird representing

05:32Omen empowerment. And Nasik bridge will represent Tarpana and Nagpur bridge is likely

05:38to be in the form of a Tiger to promote the Save the Tiger movement. However, apart from Varda,

05:46the design for the four other bridges are still under consideration.
