00:30One of the Minister's priorities is to strengthen those links between Northern Ireland and the United States of America through the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
00:55And that's so important because there were so many people here from Northern Ireland, or sorry, from the old province of Ulster who migrated there in the 17th and 18th and 19th centuries.
01:05I think we traditionally look at that Irish migration of being from the mid-1800s onwards.
01:11And a lot of people here, we don't realise actually how influential the migrants from Ulster, those early settlers were, particularly to the Declaration of Independence and how that came about and the part that they played in that.
01:24And so one idea that was floated was to have an archivist to go over and look at the documents and unearth some of the really key documents, or to look at some of those really key documents that really reflect that strong link between the two lands.
