01:06The beginning today, we will govern expansibly and audaciously.
01:11We may not always succeed, but never will we be accused of lacking the courage to try.
01:17To those who insist that the era of big government is over, hear me when I say this.
01:25No longer will City Hall hesitate to use its power to improve New Yorkers' lives.
01:33For too long we have turned to the private sector for greatness while accepting mediocrity from those who serve the public.
01:40I cannot blame anyone who has come to question the role of government, whose faith in democracy has been eroded by decades of apathy.
01:50We will only be the final recourse for those struggling, one where excellence is no longer the exception.
01:58We expect greatness from the cooks wielding a thousand spices, from those who stride out onto our Broadway stages, and from our starting point guard at Madison Square Garden.
02:10Let us demand the same from those who work in government.
02:15In a city where the mere names of our streets are associated with the innovation of the industries that call them home,
02:22we will make the word City Hall synonymous with both resolve and results.
02:30Who does New York belong to?
02:33New York belongs to all who live in it.
02:37Together, we will tell a new story of our city.
02:42This will not be a tale of one city governed only by the 1%,
02:46nor will it be a tale of two cities, the rich versus the poor.
02:51It will be a tale of eight and a half billion cities,
02:56each of them a New Yorker with hopes and fears,
02:59each a universe, each of them woven together.
03:03We'll be right back.
03:07Grazie a tutti.
