00:00The logistics on this one are gonna be the biggest challenge.
00:03Prime's got a flap.
00:04I need your muscle, Brad.
00:05We're back on the dusty trail.
00:07Hopefully, we'd see some moose through the dust clouds.
00:09Most important thing is always pay attention and listen to Chase.
00:12Hear you hear me, bring me a window.
00:15Is anyone gonna help?
00:16So how are we?
00:18We paid for a balcony room.
00:28Sit.
00:29Okay, follow the stick with your eyes.
00:33Ashley, we're supposed to be cleaning.
00:34I'm trying to hypnotize him into making him, like, me more than you.
00:37Oh, it worked!
00:39It worked, it worked.
00:44What are we doing here?
00:44Who's coming over?
00:45Martha, Noah, and his family.
00:47What side of the family is Noah on again?
00:49Martha is his mother, our father's oldest sister.
00:53Oh, no.
00:54I know what you're gonna say.
00:56Oh, no.
00:58What, what's the matter?
00:58What's the matter?
00:59No.
01:00Yeah.
01:01What do you mean?
01:02You don't know?
01:03Where does Noah have a place that we stayed at?
01:05Oh, nine mile?
01:06Nine mile.
01:07We've always said we want to go way up north.
01:09No.
01:10Back to where it all began?
01:11Yeah.
01:12This is it.
01:13What's the matter?
01:14What's the matter?
01:15I don't know if I'm gonna be able to handle being up north with all you guys.
01:20There's no escaping up there either.
01:22And there's no power.
01:23No internet.
01:24Well, there's escaping.
01:25No TV.
01:26No phone service.
01:27There's escaping.
01:28Yeah.
01:29You can walk down the road.
01:30Run from black flies.
01:31Yeah.
01:32Nine mile camp is about 30 years old.
01:36We actually went up there for a project.
01:38The first thing we ever did for TV was a pilot called Lost Cabin Hunters.
01:42Dixie, you and Justin go start hauling more materials then.
01:46Absolutely.
01:47And Ryan, Jedi and I will come up with a good plan.
01:49Sorry about it.
01:50We'll hit it hard.
01:51Let's get after it.
01:52Cool.
01:53Let's do it.
01:54So we stayed in Uncle Bruce's camp and worked on another trapper's cabin close by.
01:59Yeah.
02:00On the water.
02:01Which was right next to the old camp.
02:02The trapper's cabin.
02:03We all stayed in this camp.
02:05All together.
02:06One big room.
02:07You following on this?
02:08I know we left the time capsule.
02:09It'll be exciting to see if it's still there.
02:10For all the footage.
02:11We got a little time capsule we're gonna do.
02:14All right.
02:15Last piece.
02:16Let's hope it's there for another hundred years.
02:19Hundred years.
02:20It was an adventure to say the least.
02:23Nice job.
02:24Good job guys.
02:25Out of here.
02:30Noah's got a family now.
02:32They use the camp all the time.
02:33Tons of family use the place.
02:35So we'll see what Noah and the family are looking for.
02:37Hey guys.
02:38Good morning.
02:39Good morning.
02:40Good morning.
02:41We made it.
02:42I'm Martha.
02:43I'm Chase and Ashley's aunt.
02:44What's up?
02:45Good to see you.
02:46Good to see you.
02:47Nice to see you.
02:48I'm Noah.
02:49Good to see you.
02:50And Chase and Ashley are my cousin.
02:52It's been a few years since we've been up there.
02:54I'm sure the list is fairly long.
02:56What are you looking to have done to the camp?
02:58I think the biggest things would be safety first.
03:01The little deck up on the second floor.
03:03The cedar board is starting to get rotten and squishy.
03:05The railing is not super secure.
03:07Make sure that's safe for the kids.
03:09Sleeping arrangements upstairs as well.
03:11Right now it's a big open space.
03:14So maybe creating some bunk beds for these guys.
03:17Some partitions.
03:18And some additional seating on the inside of the camp.
03:21Countertops have fallen apart.
03:24The bathroom is in need.
03:26The siding is starting to degrade.
03:28The stairs out back need an overhaul.
03:30And seating around the fire.
03:33The privy out back needs an overhaul.
03:35That might be the first thing we do.
03:36Get a good bathroom going.
03:38We'll see.
03:39Priorities are different for everybody.
03:40That's a moral thing.
03:41For sure.
03:42Is there anything else you want to see done to it?
03:45You know, I would like to see a safe spot for the boys.
03:49When they use their bow and arrow.
03:51Just like a little area to do some target practicing.
03:54Let's go.
03:55Let's take this back to our rooms.
03:56Cool.
03:57Yeah, I think logistics on this one are going to be the biggest challenge.
04:01It's at least a six hour drive to get there.
04:04Yeah.
04:05How close is the nearest town, hardware store, anything?
04:09Self-serve.
04:10Yeah.
04:11Power.
04:12I would say four hours.
04:13Well, three hours to Ashlyn.
04:14Three or four.
04:15Three or four.
04:16Three hours one way.
04:17I know who's got the lead foot.
04:18I've got the four hours.
04:20I can cut it pretty quick.
04:23Four hours to the nearest town, six hours from here.
04:26Correct.
04:27And that's dirt roads.
04:28Majority.
04:29Yes.
04:30It's pretty isolated.
04:31We're going to have to make one long convoys.
04:33So that if somebody does get a flat tire, which sounds like it's very common.
04:37And depending on the day that you go in, it is the North Main Woods.
04:43It's a working area.
04:45There are going to be logging trucks that you're going to have to be very careful of.
04:49So we don't want to forget anything.
04:50We don't want to forget anything.
04:51I think the best option is probably to bring as many of the crew as we can.
04:55All the supplies, all our food.
04:57We've got to make sure that we're prepared with multiple spare tires and the tools to be self-sufficient.
05:01You're going in there outfitting for an adventure.
05:04Yeah.
05:05We have to go up there and get measurements and everything.
05:06How's that going to work?
05:07Well, Noah goes up regularly.
05:08Yeah.
05:09I'm going up on Thursday for a canoe trip.
05:10So we'll measure every nook and cranny.
05:12Chase is going to give you some homework then, right?
05:13Yeah.
05:14The more we can pre-build, prefab down here, the more efficient we're going to be up there.
05:18I think we're going to have to set the timeline on this one.
05:22I think we can probably steal away for two weeks in the middle of summer when it's our busiest time of the year,
05:28and we'll get done as much as we possibly can.
05:31How much do you have for the renovations on the camp?
05:34$40,000?
05:35Is there a family discount?
05:38You know there is.
05:41How about are the bugs in the middle of the summer?
05:43Moose flies.
05:44Yeah.
05:45That's bigger than a horse fly.
05:46Those bus flies, when they bite you, they take a chunk out of you.
05:49All right.
05:50So we've got a budget.
05:51We've got a time frame.
05:52You're getting us measurements.
05:53I think we just need a set of keys.
05:56Oh!
05:57Yay!
05:58There's the key.
05:59Excellent.
06:01And a pencil.
06:02All right.
06:03Without the main cabin masters, we could never even dream of doing something like this.
06:06They understand the complexity of living in the North Main Woods while you're working.
06:10We'll walk you out.
06:11We've got to go get ready.
06:12We've got to pack those trucks.
06:13And their willingness to go up and to stake out and to invest.
06:17I don't think anybody else would do it.
06:19It's a spot that we love.
06:20It's a very unique geographic area.
06:22It's wild.
06:23It's rugged country.
06:24I love to take the boys up and explore and just being together unplugged.
06:29It's really what it's all about.
06:30Check it.
06:31You're coming to the great North woods?
06:32Yeah.
06:33Oh, okay.
06:44So today, we are packing up and ready to convoy north to Noah's camp up in Nine Mile.
06:52Oh, my gosh.
06:53Are you excited?
06:54This is your first time to the outgash.
06:55Oh, yeah.
06:56I don't know if Gussie ever went.
06:57My biggest concerns today are flat tires, getting lost, and we're going to have to watch
06:59out for logging trucks.
07:00Are you ready to be my roommate?
07:01No.
07:02Our next stop will be mile six checkpoint.
07:15It's a gate that lets us into the North Main woods.
07:20We'll all register, sign in, and then it's all dirt roads and out of communication from
07:25there.
07:26All right, everybody.
07:27Wheels up.
07:28Next stop, six mile checkpoint.
07:29Nine mile, baby.
07:30So I'm super excited.
07:31to get up to Nine Mile.
07:32The guys have been talking about the project that they first did, the Trapper's Cabin.
07:37I've never seen it.
07:38I also heard that there's a time capsule.
07:40So, yeah.
07:41I'm excited.
07:42Let's go.
07:43We've made it through Ashland.
07:45We've reached the mile six checkpoint.
07:47Three and a half hours here.
07:49Another three and a half hours in the end.
07:51Four hours.
07:52Yeah.
07:53Three and a half to cross.
07:54We've just got to try and stick together the best we can in case somebody pops a
07:57tire.
07:58Hey, I just want you guys to be careful out there because today...
08:01Very high temperatures.
08:03Breaker, breaker, Matty.
08:05This here is the pig pen over and out, bringing up the rear.
08:09A little update here on the old Nine Mile convoy.
08:12We are officially six hours into the trip.
08:17Been nothing but dirt roads in the last hour or better.
08:20And I think we've got about another hour, hour and a half to go.
08:23No issues yet.
08:24Knock on wood.
08:25I'm making our way to Nine Mile.
08:32Oh, I got one.
08:33No, you didn't.
08:34Yeah.
08:35No, no, no, no, no.
08:36He's freaking out.
08:37Ryan's got a flat.
08:38Oh.
08:43Ryan's got a flat.
08:44Literally, when I stopped, I heard a hiss.
08:46How do you fix a flat?
08:47It's called a plug kit.
08:48You have a plug kit?
08:49You don't...
08:50Should we pour some water on my tires and see if you're going to hissing?
08:52No, no, no.
08:53Who's the fastest to plug a tire?
08:56Brad's reaming out the hole.
08:58And then you take this little thing, thread it through here.
09:01Now, he's taking the plug, driving it in.
09:04And he twists it.
09:06Come on, Brad.
09:07Yes!
09:08Got it.
09:129 a.m., we were right about here.
09:14And then about 1.30, we were here, which is a six-mile checkpoint to the North Woods.
09:22And now we're right about here.
09:24And we still got about an hour to go to get to here.
09:27We just dealt with issue number one, flat tire.
09:32About 20 minutes, half an hour there.
09:35We've got everything taken care of.
09:37We're back on the dusty trail.
09:38We've got a little bit of rain coming in right now,
09:40so hopefully that's going to cut down the dust, make this travel a little easier,
09:44and allow us to see some moose through the dust clouds.
09:54We're here.
09:55We've got flat tires.
09:56A couple guys got lost.
09:57We did a lot of moving parts.
09:59And we're ready to get started.
10:01We're back.
10:02Morning!
10:03We got a full crew working today.
10:04The crew is getting done.
10:05We have a very full crew.
10:06You're always good as your crew.
10:07They found it before we did.
10:08See, it's a little out of level, so it needs to be jacked, leveled up.
10:11It's getting new siding.
10:12That window there is getting replaced.
10:14That deck on the side, second floor is getting replaced.
10:17Hopefully the door is getting replaced.
10:19Window on the second floor, gabled end on the other side, getting replaced.
10:23All new log profile siding.
10:25All needs to be painted and stained.
10:27Guys are digging the new hole for the outhouse.
10:30We need to get that dug.
10:32This is the entire outhouse right here.
10:34It just needs to be reassembled.
10:35It was all pre-built at back 40.
10:37Can we go inside?
10:38Sure.
10:39She's excited.
10:40Noah and his family are looking to get the camp jacked, leveled, new siding, replace
10:46some bad windows where the seals are gone, replace a door that's rotted, and new deck
10:51and new outhouse.
10:53Oh, yeah.
10:54Oh, yeah.
10:55The memories.
10:56What?
10:57I remember this place.
10:58I've been here a couple of times.
10:59I know.
11:00Twelve years ago, the guys all came up here and shot a pilot.
11:02A pilot I wasn't a part of and didn't get picked up.
11:05It's called Lost Cabin Hunters.
11:07Well, then Chase said, I do have a sister, and she does do design.
11:12And he asked me, and I joined the team.
11:15We made another pilot, and guess what got picked up?
11:17So what's the plan in here?
11:19Plan in here is replace this window.
11:22Kitchen, we brought up countertops.
11:24We need to redo this kitchen.
11:26A little more privacy in the bathroom space.
11:30This door needs to be replaced.
11:32New deck off the back.
11:34And then upstairs.
11:35Upstairs is the best part when we all get to sleep together in one big room.
11:39So this window here is original to the camp.
11:42Yeah.
11:43Plexiglass.
11:44Plexiglass.
11:45Looks like the plexiglass wasn't quite big enough.
11:48Oh, yeah.
11:49Remember all the beds were like bed, bed, bed, bed, bed, bed, bed, bed.
11:55In the inside of Noah's cabin, our plan is to replace the picture window, replace and repair the two doors, update the kitchen, update the bathroom, replace the windows upstairs, replace the slider door upstairs, and build bunk beds for the family.
12:08Low ceilings.
12:09Low ceilings.
12:10You know, it's a gambrel.
12:11So we have to kind of figure out what's going to work for bunk beds up here.
12:14But I think we can come up with a good design.
12:15It's all about giving a little bit of privacy so it's not just army barracks.
12:18And then you have a wall, and then you can have a little bit of space.
12:21You can have a little bench here.
12:22Chase was saying if we have leftover materials, we might be able to make bunk beds with partitions.
12:27So each individual pod could have its own, like, little bench and coat rack.
12:32Wow, this stuff is wicked brittle.
12:34Yes, all this can come over.
12:35We can get prepped and ready for jacking and leveling.
12:39That can get disassembled.
12:40Bring pucks or anything to set this on, or what are we doing that way?
12:44We'll have to get some gravel, some whatever we can to fill in around it.
12:50And then we can start digging a cesspit.
12:52Yeah, so able to drag the old gas shed out of the way where the new outhouse is going to go.
13:02Prefabricated everything for the outhouse down in Monmouth.
13:05So we got the crib work, everything all cut.
13:07Next step is to go grab some gravel and bring it back to fill in.
13:20Yep, chase it.
13:21Set it to the right.
13:23All right, don't start dropping it now.
13:25Here up at Nine Mile, we are at the shale pile.
13:28We've got to build up around the outhouse.
13:30This is going just on the bottom of the outhouse.
13:33Yeah.
13:34It might be a couple trips, huh?
13:36It might be.
13:37There's a lot of these shale piles all throughout the roads up here.
13:41That's what they kind of pass and fill in the roads with.
13:43So we've got permission to get some shale from here to cover up around the outside of the outhouse.
13:48What's the difference between this and slate?
13:53Softer.
13:54Are they related?
13:55They're all related.
13:56They're rocks.
13:57Am I good?
13:58Yeah.
13:59Keep going?
14:00Yes.
14:01I am going to get most improved backer upper over the course of this little gig we've been on.
14:13Ryan.
14:16Pull forward and then we'll try and cut it in tighter if possible.
14:19The most important thing is always pay attention and listen to Chase.
14:22So I'll be back.
14:24Cut it hard.
14:26Cut it real hard.
14:27Guide me, brother-in-law.
14:29Wicked hard.
14:30Yup.
14:31Don't get no harder than that.
14:32Too hard.
14:33Too hard.
14:34Oh, stop, stop.
14:35I'm going to keep my mouth shut.
14:41Oh, stop, stop.
14:42So the guy's got the hole all dug, the basin all built, the shale that we just went and put into the trailer.
14:47We're going to back that in.
14:49We're going to backfill this whole toilet housing right here and hopefully get it closed in sooner than later.
14:55Then we can start building the shack.
14:57Once more.
14:58Once more and we're there.
15:00Cut it again right now.
15:01That's good.
15:02Yup.
15:03Backer trailer sucks.
15:04Years of practice and a lot of luck.
15:08Make a big circle right there and we'll go swoop right into there.
15:12We got the hole dug and, you know, we knew we were only going to be able to go in about 18 inches deep, but we needed about a 36 inch deep pit.
15:20So we need to do backfill up around it.
15:22Francis brought his dump trailer.
15:24Can't really haul heavy machinery in here.
15:26Ready?
15:27Yup.
15:29I wouldn't want to get rid of any of this.
15:31I mean, we'll try and put, we'll use as much as possible.
15:34Yeah.
15:35You know, definitely where it's all signed.
15:38Yeah.
15:39Through the years.
15:40I mean, it goes back to 1990.
15:42Yeah.
15:43So we're going to save all of this.
15:45This is, you know, pretty important.
15:48It goes back to the 90s.
15:50Different people that have come to stay with Noah and the family have written all over the place.
15:57So they kind of want to save that.
15:59So we're going to be just very careful trying to take this apart.
16:03It's probably 33 by 86.
16:06Go take a look at it.
16:08See what we're up against.
16:16Now go give it a little pushy.
16:18From the top?
16:19Yeah, from the top.
16:20Don't break it.
16:22There you go, Hunter.
16:24Guys, push Ashley.
16:25Right outside.
16:26Right over.
16:27Somewhere.
16:28Yeah, bring it outside.
16:29I'm going to help you grab it here.
16:31You got it, Benny?
16:32You need a hand?
16:33Benny's a tough little bird.
16:34The old double pane.
16:37I'd say somewhere way out of the way.
16:39The pane of glass came out pretty easy.
16:41Now it's just a matter of dropping our sill, padding the opening a little bit, and installing the window.
16:47When you put this on, he's going to walk around and it moves.
16:50Because the horse flies are bugging him.
16:52So now the horse flies think there's a dragonfly on top of him.
16:55Come here.
16:56He might need something else on.
16:58He might need a horn.
16:59Oh, look.
17:00See?
17:01He's not going to get any dragonflies.
17:02Because that...
17:03The horse flies?
17:04Oh!
17:05I hope you don't get any.
17:06Let me know.
17:07The horse flies aren't going to come around me because they're afraid of this dragonfly.
17:11Where is it?
17:13When you walk around and then all the horse flies are going to stay away from you.
17:17See if it works.
17:18See if it works?
17:19So I'm just going to fly on out of here without any horse flies.
17:25I'm ready to receive the window.
17:27Hear ye, hear me.
17:28Bring me a window.
17:30Is anyone going to help?
17:32We've got to bend that flange too.
17:34Somebody else in here helping me?
17:36Okay, pick it way up.
17:38Tip the top to me.
17:39Hear ye, hear me.
17:40Francis, top back.
17:42Coming on in.
17:44Watch out your hand, Francis.
17:46Beautiful.
17:47Just like that.
17:49There we go.
17:50Kitty cat, just like that.
17:51Ashley, make sure it's centered.
17:53It's totes centered.
17:55That cook of ours, Francis, he's been in the middle of everything.
17:58Very impressive.
18:00We've got the pit dug, cribbing work in, back filled with all the shale and topsoil.
18:06Next step is to set the platform, post it up, get ready for the walls and roof.
18:10You go to that one.
18:11One hole is bigger than the other.
18:13Hey.
18:14Takes all sizes.
18:15You want to have?
18:16No, no, no, no, no, no.
18:17Back to back.
18:18Oh.
18:19Oh, it is an oval.
18:20Oh, that's why.
18:21Just lean back.
18:22This wouldn't be awkward at all.
18:23Can you hand me some paper?
18:24Is there a diviner one?
18:25No.
18:26Just like this.
18:27Chase had us try it out.
18:28They even beveled the edges of the seat.
18:29And there's going to be a seat on top of that.
18:30They're thinking of everything.
18:31So those of us that are staying at this camp, Francis is cooking us breakfast, lunch and
18:38dinner.
18:39And then the rest of the crew is down at another campsite playing games.
18:44They're fishing.
18:45They're canoeing.
18:46So they are bonding and having a great time down there.
18:47So it's really just a cool bonding trip for all of us.
19:00Hi, everybody.
19:01What up, Ash?
19:02We.
19:03Are these deceiving?
19:04They're not right.
19:05Day two up to nine mile.
19:07Our goal today is to get the lattice on, get the house built.
19:10Get some trim up, get some siding on, get the upstairs deck built and just keep everything
19:18moving along.
19:19We're getting ready to rip this deck off.
19:21We've got to replace this deck.
19:23We've got to replace that door as well.
19:25So we want to get everything torn out of there so we can get it opened up and see what
19:29we actually need for this new door and new deck.
19:32So, yeah, we've got the rafters all cut.
19:35Stringers are ready to come down.
19:36We're going to give it a tug.
19:37It's going to slam right down there about eight, ten feet away from the building.
19:47Paul Hatchby!
19:48We paid for a balcony room.
19:51You better have this done by tonight, okay?
19:57Paul Hatchby!
19:59Woo-hoo!
20:00Nice job, gentlemen.
20:01Day two.
20:02Everybody showed up.
20:03Ready to go.
20:04Everybody had a good night's sleep.
20:05We are having peaches for breakfast.
20:07Peaches.
20:08Peach.
20:09Peach!
20:10Brad and Schmitty are ripping off the second floor deck.
20:14That's getting rebuilt.
20:15Once that's up and secured, then we will take out that upstairs slider and replace that.
20:22Oh!
20:23Dixie, what are you doing?
20:24So in order to install the siding, we need to have the skirting done and window trim and corner boards done.
20:29So I'm working on window trim and corner boards.
20:32Cool.
20:34We got the platform set yesterday for the outhouse.
20:37So today it was just setting the walls, getting everything secured.
20:42Done.
20:43Whack-a-mole.
20:45It was prefab, so the walls go up pretty quick.
20:48One, two.
20:49Whoa!
20:50Whoa!
20:51We just kept going.
20:52Got the walls all assembled.
20:53Oh, baby!
20:55Oh, baby.
20:57We need to put the rafters on.
20:58We didn't pre-build the roof, so we need to put the rafters up, sheath it over, roof it together, get the doors on, windows in, trimmed out.
21:05Still early, but everybody's motivated.
21:07It hurts.
21:09Ow, that does hurt.
21:10Okay.
21:11Back to work.
21:13Screen door?
21:14Screen door time.
21:15Whoa.
21:16The brother said it's perfectly good, we're going to keep it.
21:18I kind of agree with him.
21:20Yeah, it's perfectly good, let's keep it.
21:21But let's make it look different.
21:22I think we pop off this, because this obviously had a screen on the bottom of dogs and people kicking it.
21:27We can't just sand this down.
21:28No.
21:29So I'll pop this off, we'll put new wood on the inside of this square, and then hold the wood and I'll trim out both sides.
21:35So I'll pop this off, we'll paint it.
21:36Wait, I wasn't paying attention, what are you talking about?
21:38This and this off, let's just do it, watch.
21:40I'll do it.
21:41And then we'll put new wood on the inside, and I'll picture frame it to hold it in on both sides,
21:45and then we'll stick.
21:46This will be green, that'll be, let's take the stuff.
21:48So what part of this project is mine?
21:50Painting a beautiful skull and crossbones on there.
21:54Anyway, is it coming up?
21:55Yeah.
21:56Get that one.
21:57Whoa, it's coming up from the other side.
21:58Don't worry.
21:59We're keeping the screen doors?
22:00Yeah, we're going to fix it up a little bit.
22:01We're fixing this, Brad.
22:03Did you bring new screen doors?
22:04The one upstairs in your guys' room.
22:06Our room.
22:07We'll fix that one up, too.
22:08Our room.
22:09Our room.
22:10That's the suite.
22:11I had to move our bed today so that we could be there.
22:12We're going to have a new deck later.
22:13We are going to have a new deck.
22:14Can I have my coffee on that deck tomorrow morning?
22:16Yeah.
22:17Yes!
22:18Don't tell too many people they're going to want to move in.
22:21Cool.
22:22Are you going to take off the other side, too?
22:24Did the other side need taking offing?
22:26One side at a time.
22:27The other side might be okay, though.
22:29It might not have hit the elements.
22:30Is this the outside?
22:31Okay, we'll just do this side.
22:32That's perfect.
22:33I like it.
22:34Ryan took out the screen door and told me that he was fixing it,
22:36and he came up with this idea that we should paint our logo
22:39on the new wood.
22:43Cut out some new pieces.
22:44We stained them the color of the siding.
22:46Sarah's actually got this painted.
22:48Sarah's helping me just figure out how I'm going to trim out the
22:50inlay board we're going to put.
22:51And then we'll flip it, paint it, inlay it.
22:53No, it's off the ashing.
22:58Now that Ryan has fixed the door, Sarah put a fresh coat of paint on it,
23:03and we have this new panel here.
23:05I am going to draw out and paint our company logo on here.
23:09Ryan cut out some new pieces, so then we put them onto the door
23:12and glued them down and just had to wait for them to dry.
23:14I don't think you need a sandbag.
23:15I need another sandbag.
23:17Okay, but it's popping it up on the other side.
23:19Ryan's level of bossiness is right about here right now.
23:22I'd like it to be right about here.
23:24Can we have more of the clamps, too?
23:25Wait, please.
23:26Ask the guys.
23:29Again.
23:30Please ask the other guys if we have more.
23:32This stuff is super fast.
23:34There's no sense of urgency with her.
23:36Stay, too.
23:37Her urgency level's here and needs to be a little more up here,
23:40so we should just meet in the middle somewhere.
23:42There's all their clamps.
23:43My urgency level, I mean, it's not really that high,
23:46but I really didn't have a whole lot to do today,
23:48and I was looking forward to doing this project.
23:50I'll be back, door.
23:52Yeah, well, we'll set it for half an hour or so.
23:55It's going to be worth the wait.
23:56Please.
23:57Please.
23:58Ryan's nicest compassion level is a little low today.
24:00So the glue's dry, we hope.
24:03Ryan will kill me if it's not.
24:05But I want to get working on this.
24:07Everybody's kind of getting pulled in all kinds of different directions
24:09with all these different projects going on,
24:10so you take whoever you can get.
24:12Someone walks by and wants to help me?
24:13Sure.
24:14How's this going?
24:15Hey!
24:16Apparently I took the weights off a little too soon.
24:20My fault.
24:21I did it.
24:22I did it.
24:23I did it.
24:24Why?
24:28It's not funny.
24:29Because I'm trying to explain to you what's happening.
24:31Constant bickering.
24:32Constant bickering.
24:33His frustration comes with me because I wasn't patient.
24:37This is coming from Mr. Impatient himself.
24:39So, yeah, come on.
24:40If the most impatient person within 200 miles asks you to wait,
24:46you might want to listen.
24:48Air got in it.
24:49No air got in it.
24:50I did go back and apologize.
24:52We came to the conclusion that we were going to let it sit
24:54overnight and it will really set.
24:56It will be ready for me to get to it tomorrow morning.
25:02I'm going to start right here.
25:04The pressure really was to get that outhouse done because
25:06We needed a working outhouse on site.
25:10Right now we've got the outhouse roof all sheathed up.
25:13Got our ice and water shield on it.
25:14Got it closed right in.
25:15Now we're putting our metal panels down.
25:17Once we get our metal panels,
25:19we're going to run our rake pieces and the roof is done, man.
25:25Nice work today.
25:26Deck looks great.
25:27Siding looks awesome.
25:29You know what looks the best?
25:30Straight forward from here.
25:31The outhouse.
25:32Best it's ever going to look.
25:33That is adorable.
25:34Morning number three.
25:39Everybody's hustling.
25:40Justin's getting paper up.
25:42Hunter's got the deck going on.
25:44Benny and the staining crews moving stuff around.
25:47Rye's ripping up a bunch of trim.
25:49Sarah's cutting trim.
25:51We're getting ready to side this backside and walk away.
25:54So the big jobs today are taking out the old slider door
25:57on the second floor, getting the new slider up on the deck
26:00and installing that slider, installing the gable end windows on the opposite end,
26:05and getting the siding done on all four sides.
26:08Gosh, this window's in bad, bad shape.
26:10Well, we got to take it apart.
26:12So this window has been broken at some point and then broken again.
26:17Instead of one large picture window, we're going to try and put in three individual windows just to make life a little easier.
26:23It's been great working with Fletcher.
26:25He leaves tomorrow.
26:27I remember working up here with my father, with my grandfather.
26:30So it's great that he's had an opportunity to do that, too.
26:32How's your day going?
26:38Oh, you match the extension cord, too.
26:40You're so stylish.
26:42What we're going to do is we'll leave those handles on.
26:45I'll put two tie ropes up to you guys.
26:49We'll push up, and then two guys will pull it up, and then we'll just come up and over like we just did.
26:54No, I would not take it apart.
26:56So getting the new door up, we decided that it would be best not to disassemble the panels off from the sliding door,
27:03but to bring it up as one unit.
27:05Hold up.
27:06Yeah.
27:07Okay.
27:08Now hold on.
27:09Hold on.
27:10You on it, Schmidt?
27:12What we did was we brought the door over to where the ladders were, leaned it up against the ladder,
27:18wrapped two ropes around it.
27:20We had three guys up in the balcony.
27:22Just be easy when you tip it.
27:25It went up with ease.
27:27Holy gee.
27:29Classic example right there of many hands making light work.
27:33Get it straight into the door.
27:35So things are looking good.
27:37Fletcher and I just got the windows on the gable then installed.
27:40These guys are working on the trim to get ready for siding.
27:43Slider door went in.
27:45Back deck went in.
27:46Looks like we're getting some rain soon, so we're trying to get everything wrapped up so we can close it in as quickly as possible.
27:51So now we're going to take off the clamps and pray that it is sealed.
27:57I get to work beside Dixie.
27:58This is the best part of the day.
28:00Now I am just going to trace this out real fast and then I'm going to paint it with the green paint.
28:05It's not going to be that easy.
28:07Just go for it.
28:14Looks good, Ash.
28:15Thanks.
28:16Looks really good.
28:17I like it.
28:18I just had to say let's just go for it, right?
28:20Nothing to it but to do it.
28:22Nothing to it but to do it, right?
28:25I see the glue is all dry now.
28:27Yeah, right?
28:28The glue is dry.
28:29It is dry nicely.
28:31Must we bring that up again?
28:33Lesson learned.
28:34You know what the lesson is?
28:36Don't work with your husband.
28:41There he is.
28:42Ryan came over and helped me with the finishing pieces.
28:45Love it.
28:46Which was to put the picture frame trim around the panel.
28:50That wind is keeping the bugs away.
28:51I don't even need any of my contractions today.
28:53Jason Fletcher installed it for me.
28:55We did it, guys.
28:57It's official.
28:58It's official.
28:59Woo-hoo!
29:01Good job.
29:02Good job, everybody.
29:03Thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks.
29:04Good job.
29:05Thing.
29:06On to the next project.
29:07We're halfway through day three,
29:09tidied up stuff,
29:10because, I mean, it looks like rain,
29:11feels like rain,
29:12so that means it's coming.
29:13So I think it's starting to feel awful windy up here.
29:15Oh, wow.
29:16I want to see right there.
29:17Better go check the tents,
29:18make sure we don't get blown away.
29:32It's a rainy end to the week.
29:34We can't stop for the rain.
29:36Our goal is to get the stairs for the back deck built,
29:39get the two gable ends sided,
29:40and then it's a good stopping point for the weekend.
29:45We knew yesterday that the rain was coming.
29:46We got lucky.
29:47We got almost a full day in yesterday.
29:49It's humid out, too,
29:50so you put a rain gear on,
29:51so you're sweating underneath,
29:52so you're getting wet regardless.
29:53So do you want to get wet by the rain,
29:54or do you want to get wet from sweat?
29:56And then you have man glitter everywhere,
29:57so it's just going to get dirty and disgusting.
29:59Biggest thing is just keep a good attitude,
30:01and when we get done,
30:02we'll clean all our tools off nicely,
30:03let them dry.
30:04I mean, there's enough of us.
30:05We should be able to have a bunch of people on both sides.
30:08I'm going to just go for it.
30:09Oh, it's so much better.
30:11Whoo!
30:14It's pouring out here,
30:16so Trigger and Fletcher and I
30:18are going to find a nice inside project to do.
30:20Come on, Triggs.
30:21Get out of the rain.
30:22I got some brushes.
30:24You found us an indoor project.
30:26My hero.
30:28What are we doing?
30:29Uh, polyurethane window.
30:31This?
30:32Yeah.
30:33That is the window.
30:35That's a window?
30:36It's a window?
30:38Can you get close to the window?
30:40Every time I work with the kids, it's a lot of fun,
30:43and usually it's doing a special project with me.
30:45It's not doing the building.
30:46And so to have Fletcher here and actually working
30:49and actually doing real work, it's pretty cool to see.
30:52You're leaving us today.
30:54You're moving on.
30:55You're moving up in the world.
30:57How was your first week with the Cabin Masters?
30:59Pretty great.
31:00I had a great time.
31:01What was your favorite part you took?
31:03Hanging out with me?
31:04What?
31:05He worked really, really hard.
31:07I would say as hard as the rest of the guys,
31:09and he has officially graduated from Mini Master
31:12to a regular Master.
31:14All right.
31:15This is done.
31:16We'll let this dry, see if we need another coat,
31:18but I know.
31:20Good job.
31:21Stopped raining.
31:22We got an inside job done.
31:23Now we can stay dry.
31:24All right.
31:25Sick.
31:26Thanks, kid.
31:29I guess the goal of the week was to get the exterior wrapped up.
31:33And yesterday afternoon, we were pretty close.
31:36We still had to finish the siding on both gabled ends
31:39and finish the back deck and stairs.
31:41So today, we just split into two teams,
31:44three teams, four teams, but we were all one big team,
31:47and we busted it out.
31:51Awesome.
31:53Last board.
31:54Chase, last board.
31:56Last board.
31:57Hunter.
31:58Last board.
31:59Dixie, last board.
32:00Last board.
32:01I feel like we are definitely learning something
32:04by everybody being here and getting things done.
32:06All right, last board.
32:07Justin, last board.
32:08Steve, last board.
32:10I think that we are busting this out fast,
32:13and it's fun to have everybody around.
32:15Hang on.
32:16We have one more thing we want to do,
32:17and then you can take off for the weekend.
32:18We wanted to honor Fletcher's graduation,
32:20so I made a little diploma and asked all the crew
32:24if they would sign it.
32:30I gotta walk slow.
32:31You guys have short legs.
32:32This is a ceremony.
32:34You know, Fletcher, in a long line of mini-masters coming up,
32:38we sat with Brad and then Schmitty and, you know, now Fletcher,
32:41and I just thought we had to put a little pomp and circumstance in it.
32:44We didn't do a very good job marching, but people got the idea.
32:47Fletcher, could you please come forward?
32:49Drum roll, please.
32:50What?
32:51Fletcher.
32:52Can you please come forward?
32:53Please step forward.
32:54Fletcher, coming forward.
32:55Can you put on your gown?
32:57Uh-huh.
33:00Yes!
33:01Let me place the cap on you.
33:04When we clap, you can flick your tassels.
33:07Okay.
33:08Chase.
33:09Fletcher, you've been a mini-master since day one.
33:11You've been with us from the very beginning.
33:13One, two, three!
33:17Fletcher Ram.
33:18Let's have a batter and ram.
33:21Yeah!
33:23Do I have to listen to his teenager attitude all day?
33:25Yeah.
33:26After this trip, I think we all agree that you have graduated from a mini-master to a true cabin master.
33:33Yay!
33:38We're all very proud of you, and you work very hard.
33:41And we'll miss you next week.
33:43We'll miss you next week.
33:44Hopefully, Ashley will build a frame for that diploma, and he can put it over his desk someday.
33:49When Brad and Smitty come in for directions for the week.
33:51Hey, let's get a picture.
33:53Good job, Fletcher.
33:54Seeing Fletcher with a nail gun in his hand, and seeing his work ethic, and then coming up here and seeing him for a week with us, it's really awesome.
34:00Turn your tassel.
34:01Not too hard.
34:02Don't poke your eye out.
34:03Yay!
34:08I mean, I like working vacations.
34:09Whenever we would come up here, it was always with my father or family, and this is always what it was.
34:14It was a project that had to be done.
34:16All the family would get together and get it done.
34:18Yay!
34:19Right down the line.
34:20For he's a jolly good fellow.
34:22For he's a jolly good fellow.
34:24For he's a jolly good fellow.
34:25For he's a jolly good fellow.
34:27Get back to work.
34:29Go down this way.
34:30Camille's cabin.
34:31It's about another 100 yards, 200 yards down.
34:32A lot happened this first week.
