43:41But for those of you who don't know it, here's the short version.
43:46My parents were both junior hockey coaches, and they were hit by a drunk driver when I was 12 years old.
43:57Mercifully for them, they died instantly.
44:00Mercifully for me, the St. Thomas scholarships existed.
44:04I didn't have anybody else to help me, had a lot of memories, a love of hockey, and a huge hole in my heart.
44:17St. Thomas filled it with hope, the hope of a new family.
44:22Things, things weren't always easy, you know, they never are for anybody, but in hockey, I found what I was missing, first at my high school, then later at college, and now here with the admirals.
44:36And I never looked back, because I never had to, the family I craved, the family that I needed, that I still need today.
44:49Hockey gave it to me, and St. Thomas gave me hockey.
44:57So from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you all for being here tonight, and for supporting this cause, because it's not just a scholarship, it's everything that comes with it.
