00:00I'm not going to lie to you guys, there's not going to be a huge amount of jokes in this video concerned as it is with images of people who were alive when caught in a photo frame but were shortly very much not. Viewer discretion advised, I'm Adam from WhatCulture.com and here are 15 haunting photos of people moments before their death.
00:19Number 15, Jadiel El Tsunami. The man in the photo is Ramon Gonzalez, also known as reggaeton singer Jadiel El Tsunami. In 2014, he took this selfie, moments before a motorbike accident that killed him. It's unclear whether the taking of the selfie had anything to do with the crash but it's the last image of the singer ever taken while he was alive.
00:39Number 14, President Kennedy. The Kennedy assassination is one of the most infamous moments in the 20th century, inspiring movies, parodies and more conspiracy theories than the internet knows what to do with. This photo of the president in his motorcade was taken mere seconds before he was shot in the back, throat and head.
00:55Number 13, Zenya Ignatyeva. In Russia, there exists an internet craze of people, mostly teenagers, taking selfies of themselves in extremely dangerous places, on top of scaffolding, on pylons, on bridges. Zenya Ignatyeva was one such teenager. This seemingly innocuous selfie of her was taken as she tried to climb a rail bridge. After this photo was taken, however, she lost her balance and fell, electrocuting herself on LiveWise as she did. She was just shy of 18.
01:22Number 12, Unidentified 9-11 Jumper. And what will go down is one of the most infamous moments of the 21st century. And much of the horror and terror of 9-11 was recorded in deeply upsetting footage by the horrified people below. In this photo, a man can be seen falling from one of the towers, as many victims chose to jump rather than be caught in the flames inside.
01:42Number 11, Carl Williams. Carl Williams was, from all accounts, not a good person. He was in an Australian prison at the time of his death, charged with drug trafficking and murder, being involved in a number of gangland games.
01:52In this CCTV still, Williams can be seen sitting at a table, reading a newspaper. Moments later, he is beaten to death with the stem of an exercise bike by fellow inmate Matthew Charles Johnson, who can be seen approaching from behind.
02:06Number 10, Unidentified Nepalese Man. In an eerie coincidence, this is another photo of a man taken mid-fall, also taken on September 11th, this time in 2003.
02:15This Nepalese man, who it would later emerge had recently lost his job, jumped from the roof of a three-story building, and this photo caught him mere inches from hitting the ground when he was killed almost instantly.
02:25Number 9, Courtney Sanford. A cautionary tale on the dangers of taking photos whilst driving.
02:30In April 2014, Courtney Sanford was driving, listening to the song Happy by Pharrell Williams.
02:35At 8.34am, police were called to the flaming wreck of her car, which had crashed into a recycling truck.
02:40At 8.33am, a single minute before the call was made, this photo appeared on Courtney's Facebook page, with the description,
02:47The happy song makes me happy.
02:50Number 8, Pavel Kashin. One of the reasons that freerunning looks so cool is because it's dangerous as hell.
02:55This photo is more than proof of the dangers.
02:58Pavel Kashin is the man featured in the image mid-backflip.
03:00Pavel would go on to land his backflip awkwardly, losing his footing and falling 16 stories to his death.
03:06Number 7, Princess Diana and passengers.
03:09In the UK and in some parts of the world, the car crash death of Princess Diana was an uncanny affair,
03:13in which the whole nation and its media briefly grieved itself insane.
03:17In a later inquiry, judges ruled that paparazzi on bikes slapping the car had contributed to the accident,
03:22which makes this shot, taken of the passengers by one paparazzo, even more chilling.
03:28Number 6, Unidentified Chechen Villagers.
03:30God, the world is horrible.
03:32This shocking image from 2002, in the midst of the Second Chechen War,
03:35depicts a group of Chechen villagers from Meska Yurt at the bottom of a pit.
03:39Russian soldiers had forced them to dig the pit at gunpoint,
03:42and shortly after this photo was taken, the men inside would be killed with explosives.
03:47Number 5, Petra and Gary Slock.
03:49Now, this selfie doesn't seem immediately shocking,
03:51until you find out it was taken on Malaysian Airlines Flight 17,
03:54which was shot down by armed pro-Russian separatists over Ukraine.
03:58Gary Slock took this photo of himself and his mother, Petra, before the plane took off.
04:02No one on the infamous flight would survive the crash.
04:05Number 4, Jane Wicker.
04:07Wing walking is as dangerous as it sounds,
04:09as industry leader Jane Wicker reminded us all in 2013.
04:13As shown in this photo at the Vectron Dayton Air Show,
04:16she was strapped to the wing of a biplane.
04:18Shortly after the shot was taken, the wing unexpectedly banked to the ground,
04:21and the plane crashed and exploded, killing Wickers and her pilot, Charlie Schwenker.
04:25Number 3, Joseph Avery.
04:27The oldest photo on the list, this shot was taken in 1853,
04:31and depicts a lone man, Joseph Avery, clinging to a log in the Niagara River.
04:35The man had been boating with two other men when their boat had smashed into a rock.
04:39The other two men were immediately swept away,
04:40but Avery clung to this log for nearly 18 hours.
04:44A boat was sent down to meet him, but it immediately capsized after he boarded it,
04:48and after hours, Joseph succumbed to the river.
04:51Number 2, R. Bud Dwyer.
04:52This photo depicts Dwyer, who was a treasurer for the state of Pennsylvania,
04:56with gun in his hand at a press conference.
04:58His life had been torn apart in a scandal,
05:00wherein the politician had been accused of taking bribes for a government contract.
05:04The moment after this photo was taken, Dwyer shot himself in public,
05:08made even more upsetting when it was later revealed that he was being framed for the crime.
05:13Number 1, Dutch Service Technicians.
05:15This photo depicts a wind turbine in flames.
05:18If you look closely, you can see two men standing on top of it, embracing.
05:21These men are Dutch technicians who have been trapped there by the flames.
05:24Shortly after their embrace, one would jump for it, falling to his death.
05:28The other would remain, killed by the smoke and the flames.
05:32Right, now, so that's the end of the list.
05:34This has been entirely too horrible,
05:36so let's all phone someone we like to tell them that we like them.
05:39And that's our list.
