00:30This morning the Ocean Viking has received a request of assistance by the Mari Drive 703,
00:38another vessel, a supply vessel in fact, that supplies the offshore oil rigs in the central Mediterranean,
00:46that had rescued 33 people on the 26th of December.
00:53So we brought 33 people, the 33 people, on board with us.
00:58They are of various nationalities, including Sudan, Chad, Somalia and others.
01:08They all flee Libya. They departed from Libya where they suffered the horrors.
01:14Of these 32 people, three are women. One of them is pregnant in the advanced stage of the pregnancy.
01:24And we have also three small children on board with us.
01:29Because the Maltese authorities did not coordinate this case.
01:35And this is a very good example of how, of what goes on in the Mediterranean, of what the European policies are doing to the Mediterranean.
01:46And it's not just Malta. The lack of coordination is a part, an integral, important part of this overall European state's policy to turn the Mediterranean into basically a wall.
02:04To push people back. This is against international law. So to be here on the last day of 2025 and to be able to save people, it's a good wish for 2026.
02:20And we hope for the end of criminalization of rescuers and for a real solution to the Mediterranean crisis.
