00:00I want to say
00:30we have done something that no one has ever done we have performed for over 10 million people in person that's not like oh 10 million people watched a TV show which is pretty amazing too we performed for 10 million plus people and I think about every single one of you as little kids
01:00you decided that dancing was your calling and the moment that you first saw a band and thought man I want to I want to save up for an instrument every single one of us has picked professions that categorically people for the majority
01:30you are given along the way by oftentimes people that you respect people you trust people in the field everyone in dance everyone in music will tell everyone younger if there's anything else you can do do that
01:44and so I'll see you getting rejected not getting the job not getting the part not getting the solo
01:53I'll see all of those things that happened all along the way the doors that were shut the doors that were open the windows you pried open
02:01and then sometimes I'll see you when you're older
02:05and I'll think about what
02:07what you're gonna tell
02:09your family or the people that you mentor because every single person in here
02:14has the spirit to mentor
02:16others
02:16and to tell them yes do it try it go for it
02:20if you have that same love for it
02:23and I think about whether that's to your grandchildren
02:25or to the little neighbor could kid that just wants to talk to you about what that was like
02:34everyone likes to talk about phenomenons like the heirs tour almost as if it was pieces falling into place in some sort of accidental
02:43confluence of events that just happened right
02:46when I'm thinking about the people that are in this circle I don't think about it as pieces that fell into place
02:53I think of each of you as like tectonic plates on the earth
02:58that took millions of
03:01of micro decisions and forces of you pushing and pushing inch by inch
03:09closer together and the heirs tour wasn't when all the pieces fell into place
03:13that was just when every single one of us had done so much work
03:17to where this tour was just when we all clicked together
03:20mm-hmm
03:23It is our job to make this look accidental and it is our job to make this look effortless
03:29But I just want every single one of you to know that I in no way shape or form
03:33Look at this as the pieces just falling into place. You put the pieces where they are
03:40This is the biggest challenge any of us have ever done tonight. We complete that challenge
03:46I
03:48I
03:50Think I came up with the idea for the errors tour about two years before the tour started
04:10I think I came up with the idea for the errors tour about two years before the tour started
04:15There were two main factors that culminated in the errors tour. Both of them were unpleasant
04:22We think that these bad things are happening
04:24To me or to us if you flip it around correctly and you react in a certain way those things can be happening for you
04:33The first one being my entire catalog of my first six albums was sold out from under me to somebody else and
04:44I decided to
04:46Sort of defiantly re-record all of my music
04:50You know when you revisit something you go back into that world all this work is so
04:56Indicative of the time I was in in my life. I feel like I'm reading my old diaries thinking about all the different
05:02Girls I was until I was this one so that planted a little seed inherently in my mind the idea of celebrating your past
05:10I think the second factor being the pandemic we built a home studio in my house
05:17I clung to songwriting as a sort of life raft stop it. Stop stop. I'm recording vocals
05:25Folklore came out three or four months into the pandemic. We put out evermore four months later
05:29I hadn't toured in five years and the fans had created such demand for it
05:41And I just thought to myself what if I did a tour that
05:44Celebrated all of these different moments in my life and career where you have chapters
05:51divided up by albums and
05:54Everything changes when the chapter changes
05:57She had said to us this is going to be over three hours and we were just like oh my god
06:02How do we do this?
06:05Not just planning but executing a tour of this size is
06:09mind-boggling
06:11The process of putting together this tour happened in many different phases all over the world
06:17Happening simultaneously all at once you had me doing my physical training six months before we even go into rehearsals at this time
06:25The choreographers goes in with the dancers. We've got the staging and the production design happening simultaneously
06:30All to coincide with the same start date
06:32The first day of rehearsal she got out of her car and had tears in her eyes already
06:39I'm weirdly emotional right now
06:41I'm so nice to meet you
06:42I'm Taylor
06:43Hi, I'm Kevin
06:44Nice to meet you
06:45I'm Taylor
06:46I mean I've been doing this for almost 20 years a bunch of different artists
06:50I have never seen that I have never seen the boss come into rehearsal
06:54Crying with tears of happiness and passion about their job
06:59We haven't done what we love on a stage in five years
07:03Let's go do this the fans have been so amazing and are so excited for the tour
07:08I wanted to over serve the fans that was my main goal
07:11I wanted to over serve them in terms of the amount of songs they were gonna hear the length of the show
07:17What kinds of production they were gonna see different styles of dance different worlds of dance wardrobe?
07:25How far I was gonna push myself?
07:27Oh
07:28My god, okay
07:29Let's do it my friend. Here we go
07:31When you come up with a goal like that you just have to make a choice and decide there's no going back on that choice
07:37Let's go
07:39Woo!
07:40We're gonna be done!
07:41Yay!
07:42Yay!
07:43Yay!
07:44Yay!
07:45Yay!
07:46Good morning America it's Taylor
07:48I wanted to tell you something that I've been so excited about for a really long time
07:53I've been planning for ages and I finally get to tell you I'm going back on tour
07:57Oh my god
07:58Yes!
08:00We're doing something very stressful today
08:02Today is ERA's pre-seal day
08:04Why isn't it letting us in?
08:06192
08:07Oh my god
08:11We got row 5
08:13Oh my god
08:15Stop! Stop! Stop! Stop! Stop! Stop! Stop! Stop! You did that! You did that!
08:26I think I thought fans would be excited about the idea of the ERA's tour
08:31This is not real
08:33Yes
08:34It is? Yes? Really?
08:36This was a completely different thing than I've ever experienced
08:39Fans of Taylor Swift crashed the Ticketmaster website today
08:43The demand to see Taylor at that point I don't think anybody in the industry, expert or otherwise, would comprehend it
08:52There was enough demand to do 255 stadiums
08:57I'm actually not in Glendale, I'm in Swift City, officials actually changed the name from Glendale to Swift City in honor of the megastar kicking off her tour
09:08So we go from detail-oriented, methodical, exhaustive process
09:14And all of a sudden, in the last week leading up to the first show, everybody is firing on all cylinders
09:20And then we had opening night
09:22I'm about to say something to you that I've been just thinking about for years, you know?
09:29Welcome to the ERA's tour
09:31Truly, everyone will tell you that none of us knew what the ERA's tour was becoming
09:38Kansas City, welcome to the ERA's tour
09:41Welcome to the ERA's tour
09:43She's a once-in-a-generation type of artist
09:45I would almost compare it to the Beatles
09:47When people start comparing this to, like, the Beatles and MJ
09:49You just don't expect that what you're getting into is going to be that
09:54Yeah
09:56Seattle, Washington
09:58Welcome to the ERA's tour
10:00You know, her shows, the crowd is kind of always at bananas level
10:04And this is a whole other gear, you know, or two
10:07All of the Swifties started jumping around during the song
10:10They caused the equivalent of a 2.3 magnitude earthquake
10:15Los Angeles, California
10:18Taylor Swift, she's more than just a pop icon
10:21She's a business powerhouse
10:23Swift's U.S. tour could generate $4.6 billion in consumer spending
10:28That's more than the GDPs of Grenada, Belize, and Tonga combined
10:33Something experts have dubbed Swiftnomics
10:36The Taylor Swift takeover seen across the country
10:39Leading to the emergence of Taylor Gating
10:41Even fans without tickets are traveling to tour stops
10:44I've never seen this before in my life
10:47It's like one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen
10:49It's like Woodstock, but without the drugs
10:52The thing that's so special, it is that community
10:56Where they get into that stadium and celebrate
11:01Not just what's happening on that stage, but what's happening with them
11:04And how they honor each other and love each other
11:08It just became this movement
11:11Heli, bienvenue dans l'Eras tour
11:15Stockholm, Madrid, Dublin, Flury, Milano, Hamburg, Barschava, Vitaiche, l'Eras tour
11:24I thought that this would be a tour I was very proud of
11:28This is like more than a tour
11:30It's like a force to be reckoned with in global culture
11:34So never in my life did I think we would have a terrorist plot
11:44We are continuing to follow breaking news
11:46Three upcoming Taylor Swift concerts in Vienna, Austria
11:49Have been canceled after Austrian authorities arrested two suspects
11:53Who they say had plans to carry out a terrorist attack at the concert site
11:58According to officials, they found chemical explosives, detonators, and ISIS propaganda
12:04At the main suspect's home
12:06Now the big question is what's going to happen to the rest of her European tour
12:10Well, at this point, all of her shows are going ahead as scheduled
12:13Including her concert right here in London
12:22We are in London at my hotel
12:25And basically, it's just kind of a weird feeling going into these last five shows in Europe
12:32Because it sort of feels like we've done like 128 shows so far
12:37But this is the first one where I feel like, I don't know, like I'm like skating on thin ice or something
12:43We just had this
12:44We've had a series of very violent, scary things happen to the tour
12:51Like, we dodged like a massacre situation
12:58And so, I've just been kind of all over the place
13:01Like, there was this horrible attack in Liverpool
13:05Um, at a Taylor Swift themed dance party
13:10And it was little kids that...
13:13Um...
13:24Don't explain me
13:28The latest on a knife attack
13:29That has left at least three children dead, multiple people injured at a Taylor Swift themed dance class in England
13:34The youngsters aged 6 to 11 were dancing to Taylor Swift's songs
13:37When an attacker armed with a knife launched a frenzied assault
13:42I'm gonna, um...
13:44Like, meet some of these families tonight
13:47And...
13:50Put on a pop concert, you know?
13:53Gonna be fine, because when I meet them, I'm not gonna do this, I swear to God
14:02I'm not gonna do this, I'm gonna be smiling
14:05So, any of this gets out of the way before you ever go on stage
14:10You lock it off, three and a half hours
14:12They don't have to worry about you
14:14It's like you're...
14:16Like a pilot flying the plane
14:18And if you were like,
14:19Ooh, there's turbulence up ahead
14:21I don't know if we're actually gonna land in Dallas
14:23Like...
14:24I'm gonna...
14:25I'm gonna try hard
14:26But I don't know if I can actually, like, figure out how to land through this turbulence
14:29Like, everyone on the plane is gonna freak out
14:31You just have to have a calm, cool, collected tone of like
14:35We will be landing in Dallas at 6.05pm
14:39Got a little turbulence up ahead
14:40But it's nothing we haven't seen before
14:42Just keep your seatbelts fastened
14:44And welcome to the Aeros tour
15:07There's something special about this tour
15:09This iteration
15:11This combination of people
15:12This show
15:13And...
15:14I think about, like, how much love everybody here is pouring into what they do
15:18The people who build the stage and hang the PA
15:20And the people who wash the clothes and play the instruments and do all the dancing
15:24And the only thing we're trying to do
15:26Is to make the world go away for a little while
15:28And make people feel seen and let them scream lyrics that they love at the top of their lungs
15:32It's so beautiful to find something so positive that can be an escape for people like this can
15:39And it's amazing that what we've been a part of can do that for people
15:44So, what happened in Vienna and the idea of someone being able to rewrite the entire headline of this whole experience with one awful act
15:51I feel so grateful that it got stopped
15:54But...
15:55I also felt just so horrible for the fans
15:58I know that it sounds so stupid to be so upset about this
16:04But, like, that environment of, like, the Aeros tour where, like, everyone's so kind
16:09And, like, just having fun and, like, girlhood
16:11Like, that was so much of what I wanted to experience
16:12Something this moving, this powerful, this rich in feeling and experience represents
16:19more than things that we can experience
16:22Like, what happens in a little while that's when she can do all that
16:25And, like, to make a course that's what I want to experience
16:28Like, that was so much of what I wanted to experience
16:30Something this moving, this powerful, this rich in feeling and experience
16:36experience represents more than just people coming to see an artist perform songs and so we have a
16:42large responsibility to do this show and still show up for fans in the way that we can and know
16:47how without getting too far into this i do feel like the world right now is really torn but i
16:54think being a part of this tour we're shining enough light that it actually feels like well
16:59man this is absolutely affecting a lot of lives and i think for all of us that are in it that's
17:05a pretty good perspective after vienna all right let's get out do these shows because this is why
17:11we're doing it
17:19i just want to know you better know you better know you better now i just want to know you know you
17:28know you cause all i know is the sound of love your eyes look like coming home all i know is a simple
17:38name and everything has changed all i know is you held the door you'll be mine and i'll be yours oh
17:47i know since yesterday it's everything has changed bringing out special guests is something that i
17:54really enjoy like when i get to be on stage with someone like ed sheeran we can create a unique
18:01special moment and it really just gives something to the fans that they didn't expect
18:06take me into your loving arms i don't know if he thinks he's doing the harmony the whole time and i'm
18:11doing the melody it's me it's very cool that he would come and do this because i think it's just
18:16gonna like really delight people and i think in a moment when like a lot of the fans need like a pick me up
18:21because i know i do baby how you doing so i get to i'm going to the stadium and i'll do a little
18:31i know we'll do a little dressing room rehearsal
18:43i love you i i don't know how do you how do you remember 36 000 plays that are all
18:50tactical missions and then just go do it it's the same it's basically the same job i got songs to
18:56remember you got plays to remember you've got teammates i got teammates you've got coach reed i've
19:03got my mom i want you to be here i want to be there why do you have to be in the nfl
19:17i'm so excited but have a great practice i love you so much i love you so much thank you i know
19:34this was like some people get a vitamin drip i got this conversation
19:48so i usually practice in the shower because i'm trying to respect kind of the space and peace of
20:09everyone else so if you do something noisy i go somewhere that people aren't that much and
20:15shower isn't a good enough bet you know i'm just trying to try to get some distance from everybody
20:21it's a lot i started playing for taylor in 2007. amos yeah hey are you wearing my headband
20:30again i'm wearing our headband i think if i look back at it now the thing that remains really constant
20:37is there's not a challenge that she isn't going to meet head on and kind of decide to conquer
20:43and having that kind of energy in the in the lead spot has inspired i can say me personally to do a
20:51lot of the same things this diamond here is where i'm coming up for the first nice for the first thing
20:56when we were in rehearsal for the eras tour we didn't quite know yet what it was going to be what it was
21:01going to be called i remember a meeting i think we're all like sitting on the floor where she kind
21:05of cast the vision so it's going to start with a chorus of it's really hard really hard miss americana
21:14chorus like hard it's you and me that's my whole world they whisper in the hallway she's a bad bad
21:21girl and she's just like here's my visions what we're gonna do just gonna hit them with 22 we are
21:26never ever getting back together i knew you were trouble and then the ten full minutes all too well
21:30yeah we're doing something from every album we want to get straight into willow we'll do enchanted
21:35it and we got a list of about 40 songs free. Internally certainly i scoffed that's almost three
21:50hours this is this is insanity what are what are we gonna cut and i think we added three songs
21:56it seems obvious now because it did work but at the time it's a big risk to decide we're gonna do
22:12a three hour plus show we're gonna do it in stadiums and we're gonna do it all over the world
22:16and so a lot of tenured professionals are doing their very best to quantify what it is about what
22:22she's doing that's connecting to everybody it's just a show it's just music but there's something
22:27more profound than that going on here
22:52security is being stepped up for taylor swift's upcoming london concerts and this is why it's
22:56such a big deal this is her first performance since that thwarted terror plot to attack a show
23:01in vienna swifties are already moving in all of them going to be carefully screened as they enter
23:07this stadium police telling us they want to make sure that they know what everyone is doing inside
23:11that stadium and what are the fans there saying are they concerned some of the swifties said that
23:17they were acutely aware of what happened in austria but they're they're excited
23:21we've been here for like four or five hours we've spoken to people from like scotland and england
23:30and israel i feel like what's happening right now with everyone waiting for hours and exchanging
23:37bracelets and just like everyone making friends a 10 hours wait goes in five minutes honestly
23:42i'm actually quite a new swifty um a flatmate hates me now because i just play taylor swift all the
23:49time she said if you if you like play karma one more time you're going to get evicted i want to cry
23:55for like joy tears of joy is what i want like i this has been such a long time coming like book my
24:01tickets over a year ago just seeing her face i know it's like she's not a real person
24:07i'm just so excited to like breathe the same era
24:12casting spotlights here and there across the ground at a certain point tracy understood where
24:21they were going under normal circumstances she would have felt afraid she was typically
24:26i've been performing for you know 20 years from a mental standpoint being like afraid something's
24:34going to happen to your fans at any moment this is a new challenge i want to keep all of the nerves
24:42i have away from the crowd because when you're sort of the ringleader of this show they can sense
24:49any kind of shift energetically in you and you have to really focus on that and factor that in that
24:56you're at the heiress tour nothing's wrong the same hallway through which they had entered
25:00hey suddenly there came two voices male and hi how you doing trying to take a nap no i'm trying to
25:10calm down i'm having a very physical reaction to my nerves i'm just i'm just like my hands are shaky
25:17and just nerves felt like what happened last week or yeah it's just weird it's just weird i just have to
25:23get this first show over with no it's i'm the same way right now i can't right yeah i can't relax
25:30i'm just like twitchy and fidgety and yeah just get the show over with tonight
25:37get back on the horse hey hey oh my god
25:45nice to see you just what the doctor ordered i'm so excited thank you for doing this
25:52you guys good yeah do you are you just yes sure yeah sure you just kind of flies on the wall for
25:58everything it's basically like every day that i have not not in vienna though right
26:03they were supposed to start in vienna but i didn't get to go
26:07like they oh you weren't even in the country no i was on the plane headed there damn it was like
26:12i was i'm just you know it's like i just need to get this i just need to do this show
26:21re like remember the joy of it because i'm a little bit just like
26:26you know and you get time off i get two months off after this which i need i need more than i've
26:32to go somewhere because you've seen my schedule like it's like heavy yeah it's just like are you
26:37gonna are you gonna choose somewhere to go or are you just gonna live in i'm just gonna go somewhere
26:42no one can find me i just don't want to be tracked like an animal yeah i just have felt very like
26:48hunted lately i feel like people have forgot that like you're a human being amongst all of this as
26:54you know it's high yeah it's hot so i can sing the melody if you want to sing the harmony that would
27:06be great
27:08i'll do the first verse and first chorus by myself just to build tension and they're gonna be like oh my god oh my god oh my god
27:13izzy izzy izzy and then after the first chorus i'm gonna be like guys like i could even like stop playing be like guys it's just there's something's
27:30something's not something's missing from this i just and that's when they're gonna start screaming their heads off when i'm like something's missing i just feel like i feel like i can't do this alone tonight
27:41i just wanna know you better know you better know you better now i just wanna know you better know you better know you better now
27:52i just wanna know you better know you better know you better now i just wanna know you know you know you
28:03cause all i know is you said hello your eyes look like coming home all i know is
28:11It's a simple day, and everything has changed.
28:15We can catch our breath, and take as long as you want,
28:19and I'll just follow you.
28:20We were when I was young, we connected
28:22when we were a little bit on the bus.
28:24I got the shoes and chips on both of my shoulders.
28:26Reputation precedes me.
28:28Rumors I'm needing.
28:29This is easier to ignore and believe me.
28:32We are falling in love with you every single day.
28:36I just want to tell you I am, honey, now.
28:45I fucked up a chord in Everything Has Changed.
28:49I just want to know, you better know, you better know.
28:54And you actually came up with that, so.
28:56D, and then you just move one finger to there.
29:00Yeah.
29:00Take that one off.
29:01Okay.
29:02So, we.
29:06So, you just sort of move the finger, one finger down.
29:17Yeah.
29:19Precisely, yeah.
29:20Okay.
29:30Ah.
30:33I know you helped them.
30:36I know it doesn't seem to me, but I know you helped them.
30:42From a mental standpoint, I just do live in a reality that's very unreal a lot of the time.
30:50But it's my job to kind of be able to handle all these feelings and then perk up immediately to perform.
30:58That's just the way it's got to be.
33:31Okay, that was awesome.
33:33See, you got me feeling really, really, really powerful.
33:39fun
34:09we are never ever ever
34:14getting back together
34:16we are never ever ever
34:19getting back together
34:21you go talk to your friends
34:23talk to my friends
34:25talk to me
34:27now we got problems

36:31there's so many hundreds of moments of individual eye contact throughout the course of the show
36:39i see the mass quantities of joy that everyone's feeling
36:45what's interesting is like there's some joy in the show but there's a lot of emotions in this
36:52that aren't just like put on your smiley face and come to the heiress tour it's so much more
36:58you look out into the crowd and this isn't just like a blob of lights these are millions of stories
37:08and all these counter narratives all colliding in one place where we feel safe to be demonstrative
37:14about a whole spectrum of emotion that stuff is really powerful
37:28life contains multitudes and we're kind of exploring all of the dramatic edges of those
37:52things that's what might be unlocking feelings of joy feelings of euphoria
37:58and it still gets me it does
