The Examiner's Owen Sinclair went down to the Launceston CBD to ask people two questions: what was the best part of 2025, and what are they looking forward to most about 2026?

00:00Hi, I'm Owen from The Examiner and we're down here today in the Launceston CBD to ask

00:05people what the best part about 2025 was and what they're looking forward to the most about

00:092026. What was the best part about 2025 for you? Probably getting into uni, studying my diploma at

00:17UTAS, definitely that's a highlight of 2025. What are you most looking forward to most about 2026,

00:22Sam? Honestly just continuing my studies, I hope to get into a Bachelor of Social Work

00:28mid-next year in the University of Tasmania is really great for that and the support's amazing.

00:332025 was just a year, nothing bad, nothing fantastic, got through it, whatever. I'm

00:43really looking forward to in 2026, maybe a bit more travel and just continuing to focus on what

00:51really matters, you know family and staying safe in our community. Just like getting out and all

00:57that and hanging out with friends and all that and try to get to know a few people and all that.

01:02What are you looking forward to the most about next year?

01:06Making more friends, go out and explore more and probably go around Australia a bit more.

01:12What was the best part about 2025? Gwyneth, we'll start with you.

01:16I completed my first year of uni on my double degree of Bachelor's of Law and Science.

01:22What are you looking forward to the most about next year Gwyneth?

01:26Probably the second year of it, I'm really into it. I get to do more lab of my science and my law

01:32gets more difficult and hands-on so I'm excited for that.

01:36I've managed to make it through a pretty rocky stage at work. Towards the middle of the year,

01:39they had a massive stand-in. I managed to make it through that and keep my job.

01:44And what are you looking forward to the most about 26?

01:48Completing my apprenticeship, making it through to become a fully qualified electrician.

01:52What was the best part of 2025 for you both?

01:59Maybe our trip in Australia actually. We are here since four weeks in Australia mainland and

02:06since 12 hours or 40 sorry 44 hours in Tasmania and this is the highlight of our year.

02:16What are you what are you most looking forward to about 2026?

02:20I would be very happy if all our countries could manage something together to build a better climate

02:28for our planet. We are really happy to see how Australia is safe and welcoming for us. So

02:38we'll be glad to come back maybe in 2026.
