00:00U.S. President Donald Trump says he is not concerned about China's live-fire military drills around Taiwan,
00:07dismissing speculation about a possible invasion.
00:10He describes the relationship with Chinese President Xi Jinping as strong
00:14and adds that Xi has not raised the issue with him.
00:19Well, I have a great relationship with President Xi and he hasn't told me anything about it.
00:24I certainly have seen it, but he hasn't told me anything about it.
00:28And I don't believe he's going to be doing it.
00:32Does it worry you?
00:33No, nothing worries me. Nothing.
00:36The drills followed the Trump administration's approval of a major new arms package for Taiwan,
00:42a move that has increased tensions with Beijing.
00:45The United States has long supported Taiwan's right to self-defense
00:49while deliberately remaining ambiguous about whether American forces would intervene in the event of an invasion.
