it's one of the great american mysteries whatever happened to amelia airheart she
00:08
disappeared somewhere over the pacific ocean way back in 1937 while attempting to fly around the
00:14
world but now deep sea explorers say they believe they have found her plane oceanic exploration
00:19
company deep sea vision recently released these photos they say were captured just west of what
00:24
was airheart's planned route and as you can see there is a distinct outline of a plane that
00:29
resembles the famous aviators lockheed 10e electra the image was captured by an unmanned submersible
00:34
around three miles underwater using scan sonar the leading theory behind airheart and her navigator
00:40
fred noonan's disappearance is that they ran out of fuel and had to perform a water landing
00:44
with deep sea visions chief executive tony romeo saying about the find recently quote we always
00:49
felt that she would have made every attempt to land the aircraft gently on the water and the aircraft
00:54
signature that we see in the sonar image suggests that may be the case that's because the plane
00:59
appears to still be intact they had this was found because of the theory that noonan forgot to change
01:03
the calendar as they passed the international date line leading to a celestial star navigation error
01:08
and ultimately flying off course
