00:00Welcome Strongman fans and those with no other particular plans.
00:24Here's something you may find entertaining.
00:25It's day three of the SPD World's Strongest Man.
00:29We're in Sacramento, California, where already days one and two have been raw and they've
00:33been primal as four men muscled their way into the final.
00:38...time and reigning SPD World's Strongest Man representing Great Britain, Tom Stoltman!
00:50Yes!
00:51We have played games!
00:53Whoa!
00:53Through to his first SPD World's Strongest Man final, it's the singing Strongman, Eddie
01:01Williams!
01:04Through to the World's Strongest Man final, let's hear it from Mitchell Hooper!
01:12Through to his very first SPD World's Strongest Man final, Paddy Hayes!
01:19Thank you for joining us today!
01:29So, Eddie Hall, the first two groups here in Sacramento have been absolutely stacked with
01:33former finalists, but today's set features some very interesting, fresh faces.
01:37Yeah, we've got two new guys, Lucas Hatton and Rayne O'Neill.
01:41Now, Lucas Hatton has been competing at some very high-level competition in Strongman.
01:45Came second at the Arnold Classic, which is where the top ten guys in the world go to compete,
01:49so that's a very good steed.
01:51And then Rayne O'Neill won the SCL, which is the Strongman Champions League.
01:55It's like the League One in Strongman, but usually guys that win that tend to do very good at this stage.
02:03And he did that despite only taking part in three of the 12 competitions, so must have something about him.
02:09Well, aside from Nell and that Manhattan, what about the chances of Britain's Shane Flowers becoming the third Brit in the final?
02:15Last time he was here, three years ago, he dropped an anvil on his foot in the first event and broke it.
02:21Can we expect better this time?
02:23Yeah, Shane Flowers has had a bit of a whirlwind the last few years.
02:26He missed one year at Will's Strongest Man because of the birth of his son.
02:30He missed the second year because ten days before the final, he ripped his bicep off the bone and had to get reattached.
02:36So, he's taken about six months to recover from that and about six months good training.
02:41He came second at Britain's Strongest Man.
02:43If you're coming to the top two in Britain, in my opinion, that puts you at the top ten in the world, no problem.
02:47Okay. Wow. Add a two-time runner-up in Mateusz Kieloszkowski into that mix,
02:51and you've got yourself a very interesting Heat three.
02:53Let's hear more about them now with our commentators Danny Wallace and Colin Bryce.
02:57Well, thanks, James. Thanks, Eddie.
02:59And yes, what a groove this is.
03:02First time traveling to North America for Rayne O'Neill,
03:05two-time Africa's Strongest Man and a former rugby player.
03:09From the US, it's Lucas, the hit Manhattan, making his debut two times America's Strongest Man.
03:16The Ghanaian gladiator, second time at World's Strongest, Evans Nanna.
03:21Mateusz Kieloszkowski, the mighty pole, twice second at World's Strongest Man.
03:26And completing the line-up from Britain's Shane Flowers.
03:30Flower Power, he calls himself.
03:32Might need a stronger nickname.
03:34So first event is the loading medley, Colin.
03:38Sacks, a sack fest.
03:40Four of them have to be loaded onto the back of a Cybertruck.
03:44The United States of America.
03:45Well, they call this guy the hitman.
03:47On account of his side hustle in assassinations.
03:52And Flowers is back, Colin.
03:55Yes, it's great to see him back.
03:57It's been a while now.
03:58He's been out with different injuries.
04:00He's got a great opportunity and he's in great shape.
04:04On the whistle.
04:06And all of these weigh around about 130 kilograms, just under 300 pounds.
04:12Or about maybe 22 stone.
04:16So pretty heavy.
04:17Not the easiest things to carry either.
04:19They can slip out your hands.
04:21Neck and neck at the moment.
04:22I'm impressed with Hatton seeing as he's got such enormous legs.
04:26This is fast for both guys, especially in this heat.
04:29Different techniques though, moving up to the shoulder for Hatton.
04:32It's definitely quicker just to carry it in your arms.
04:35But it can be tiring, especially on this last one.
04:38If you try and do that.
04:39Kicks and turns.
04:40That's really quick from Flowers.
04:42Well, it was.
04:43It's a risk to pick it up and turn.
04:45Both men doing it.
04:46Flowers faster.
04:47Nice.
04:48It's a very awkwardly shaped sack.
04:51And the Husserfeld stone.
04:53And about 47, 48 seconds there for Hatton.
04:56And we saw from the previous heats with the likes of Mitchell Hooper,
04:59Tom Stoltman, 38 seconds.
05:0148 seconds was the very best for those two.
05:04So, remember, this is compared to the other heats
05:07if you qualify through to the final.
05:09Well, four in 48.09 for Lucas Hatton.
05:13With four sandbags in a time of 40.13.
05:16But a good time.
05:18Shane Flowers.
05:19He seems satisfied.
05:2040 seconds.
05:24Yes, indeed.
05:2540 seconds is excellent.
05:26Very close to Stoltman and Mitchell Hooper from the other heats.
05:29Not sure there was much more there, though.
05:31Good job.
05:3241.
05:33Representing South Africa, Reino Nell.
05:36So, Reino Nell.
05:38That mighty chest.
05:40In lane two.
05:41Representing.
05:42Against an old hand.
05:43He's been appearing at World's Strongest since 2016.
05:47Kieliszkowski.
05:48This should be fascinating.
05:49Kieliszkowski is incredibly quick.
05:50But Reino Nell.
05:51He's almost an unknown quantity.
05:52We've heard so many things about him.
05:53Two times Africa's strongest man.
05:54And he's only been in the sport two years.
05:55Oh, absolutely.
05:56He's doing very well here.
05:57Very fast turn against Kieliszkowski.
05:58Who's just about never lost a loading event in his life.
06:00This is really impressive from the South African.
06:02Well, Nell's off.
06:03Kieliszkowski just behind him.
06:04You can tell.
06:05Nell used to play rugby.
06:06And Kieliszkowski is a...
06:07Oh, that's a fumble there.
06:08That's a fumble there.
06:09That will cost him greatly.
06:10What an error.
06:11Now that Flowers did 40 seconds just over.
06:12This is going to be tight.
06:13And Nell needs to get ahead of that 40 seconds.
06:15He's not going to do that.
06:16But he's nipping at the bottom of the left.
06:18He's got a nice turn against Kieliszkowski.
06:19He's got a nice turn against Kieliszkowski.
06:21He's just about never lost a loading event in his life.
06:22This is really impressive from the South African.
06:23Well, Nell's off.
06:24Kieliszkowski just behind him.
06:25You can tell.
06:26Nell used to play rugby.
06:27And Kieliszkowski is a...
06:28Oh, there's a fumble there.
06:29That will cost him greatly.
06:30What an error.
06:31Now that Flowers did 40 seconds just over.
06:32This is going to be tight.
06:33And Nell needs to get ahead of that 40 seconds.
06:36He's not going to do that.
06:38But he's nipping at Flowers' heels.
06:41As Kieliszkowski finishes.
06:43That will be disappointing for him.
06:48Yeah, massively disappointing for Kieliszkowski.
06:50That was just a total...
06:52It's just switched off for a second.
06:54I don't know what he was thinking.
06:55He's furious at himself.
06:57And actually a bit of speed up on the last one.
07:00Well, an unhappy Kieliszkowski.
07:02Kieliszkowski, four in 46.28.
07:04And with four sandbags at a time of 42.36.
07:07And a couple of seconds behind Flowers.
07:09For Reino Nell.
07:11Reino Nell.
07:12You know he grew that moustache this morning.
07:14Reino shines but Flowers blooming good
07:17and in the lead in event one.
07:19Up next though, hey, nah, nah.
07:21It's the self-proclaimed Usain Bolt of strength.
07:24Can he go fastest?
07:25We'll find out when we return.
07:32Welcome back to the SPD World's Strongest Man,
07:39where Brit Shane Flowers is in the lead in Group 3.
07:42Just one man left to run in the opening event,
07:44the loading medley, Evans Nana from Ghana.
07:47Back to Colin and Danny.
07:49Well, thank you, James.
07:51And yes.
07:52Cutting a lonely figure.
07:54Having to compete against no one.
07:57Being the solo, Evans Nana from Ghana.
08:00Calls himself, as James mentioned earlier,
08:02the Usain Bolt of strong men.
08:04On the whistle.
08:05It can be a little hit and miss, Evans.
08:09Certainly very fast at moving events like this.
08:13Completely the World's Strongest Man last year.
08:15That was his debut.
08:16Didn't make it to the final, but
08:18this is certainly an event that suits him.
08:20He's very quick through the first two sacks.
08:25He's only been competing in strong men since 2021.
08:29Already made a real impact with the other athletes.
08:32And now, now we see the Usain Bolt of it.
08:36The speed back to the final sack.
08:39Marginally slower than Usain Bolt.
08:42I was going to say marginally slower,
08:44but if you can let him off.
08:46Well, the 40 seconds of Shane Flowers has come and gone.
08:49He's not going to win this heat, but it's solid.
08:52Yeah.
08:53Good time for Evans Nana.
08:55Right about 44 seconds.
08:5944.9 for Evans Nana.
09:03Puts him behind Raynaud now, but ahead of Kieliszkowski.
09:07Yeah, I would have said Kieliszkowski.
09:09Manhattan were the two favorites for this heat.
09:11But right now, they're fourth and fifth.
09:13This man in third.
09:14Yes, while the favorites flounder, it's Flowers who's off to a flyer,
09:19picking up his maiden event win at World's Strongest Man.
09:22He's with Michelle.
09:23Now, Shane, the last time I saw you was back in 2022.
09:31You were in an ice bath with a broken foot.
09:34Is it good to be back?
09:35I knew he was going to bring that up.
09:37It's really good to be back.
09:38You know, three years later in the same city to win an event that cost me so much.
09:44Three years ago.
09:45Really happy.
09:46And I just need to keep building on this now.
09:48I know that my finalists have got it in me, so I just need to show the world that I can do it.
09:53This is the thing, isn't it?
09:54But it's been a long road.
09:55It's been quite the journey for you to get to this point.
09:57Yeah, it has.
09:58Obviously, 2022 went completely wrong.
10:0123, I missed due to the birth of my son.
10:0424, 10 days out from the show, managed to rupture my bicep off the bone.
10:09So, I've not had much luck, but I'm here now.
10:13I'm in great shape.
10:14So, let's do it.
10:15Tell you what, you seem incredibly focused.
10:17And as it currently stands, you're third overall.
10:20What's that doing to the confidence levels?
10:22Just building and building.
10:23You know?
10:24Like I said, I've not had much luck.
10:25So, when your backs are against the wall, it's hard sometimes.
10:27And there's been times over the last three years where I've thought about just jacking
10:30it in, but I just took one day at a time and now I'm back.
10:34So, yeah, buzzing.
10:35It's fantastic to see you here.
10:37Well done, Shane.
10:39Thank you very much.
10:40Shane Flowers off to a great start in his quest to join fellow Brits Tom Stoltman
10:44and Paddy Haynes, who are already through to the final.
10:47Next up, though, for Shane and Group 3, it's a very different kind of test.
10:51The deadlift for reps.
10:52And if event one was all about speed, this requires raw power.
10:57350 kilos on the bar, 60 seconds on the clock.
11:02Our first was a man with static strength of plenty, Lucas Hatton.
11:08Hatton managed seven reps, matching the mark set in previous heats by former champions
11:13Tom Stoltman and Mitchell Hooper.
11:15With seven reps.
11:16That's the number for the rest of Group 3 to aim for then, as we rejoin Conan and Danny.
11:21representing Ghana.
11:22Evans-Nana then.
11:23Evans-Nana.
11:24Evans-Nana.
11:25Evans-Nana.
11:26Up in two.
11:27Up in two.
11:28Up in two.
11:29Best.
11:30Hatton's seven reps.
11:31So, too, Kieliszkowski.
11:32One of the greats, Kieliszkowski.
11:33One of the greats, Kieliszkowski.
11:34Certainly one of the greats, Kieliszkowski.
11:35One of the greats, Kieliszkowski.
11:36Certainly one of the greats to have never have won World's Strongest Man.
11:37That's for sure.
11:38He's right up there in that list.
11:39Good to have him back.
11:40But this was always his Achilles heel deadlift.
11:41Nana, he knocks the deadlift and- oh, no!
11:53He knocks the deadlift, and oh no!
11:57Made in his hips or what, but he's, to be honest, this is probably the reason why he couldn't win well, strongest man.
12:03That's already another very disappointing event for Kiroskovsky, so we'll focus on Nana.
12:12Five reps. We've seen from the other heats that eight is about absolute max you can do in this.
12:19It's a horrible, brutal way that the bar doesn't bend at all.
12:23Very thick bar as well, and it's even picked from a very low height, lower than you would in a gym.
12:28Seven reps, could he do eight? He's got time.
12:31He does have time. Can he give us one more?
12:36This heat, of course, not helping.
12:43Well, seven for Nana. Ties in for first so far with Hatton.
12:49It's had its effect, hasn't it?
12:51Goodness me, yeah.
12:53That's knocked him for sixth.
12:55Try and get his suit off and get him breathing a little better.
12:58But once someone stops, they rarely get another rep.
13:01Seven, though, is very solid. Equals Hatton.
13:03With seven repetitions, give it up for Evan now.
13:12Some oxygen will help him get back on it. Oh, that was fast.
13:13Goodness me, he's the Usain Bolt, the strong man.
13:16What was in that?
13:17He's a great showman. He loves the crowd, that's for sure.
13:20Representing South Africa, Raynaud Nell.
13:30He's very fast in the loading medley.
13:33Representing Great Britain, Shane Flowers.
13:37That's some recent misfortunes.
13:42Well, Shane is a former Commonwealth champion in powerlifting.
13:49He's been one of the three disciplines of powerlifting.
13:52So I'd expect him to do very well here.
13:54But it's Raynaud Nell who's making the running.
13:57The unknown quantity.
13:59Banging them out here.
14:00This is impressive from Nell.
14:04He doesn't really know what his maximum is.
14:07He's never really been tested yet.
14:09He is fairly new to strongman.
14:11This is his debut at World's Strongest Man.
14:13And he looks great.
14:14It has to be said.
14:15Often we see that when someone doesn't know
14:18what they're not supposed to be able to do,
14:21they go a lot further than we think they can.
14:24And he's doing that now.
14:26Yes, he shouldn't do a...
14:28But he can.
14:29And he's done it.
14:30Wow.
14:31My goodness me.
14:32That's a massive total.
14:33Flowers trying to get the seventh up here.
14:35Can he get it up his quads?
14:37No, he can't.
14:38So close there.
14:39Shane Flowers.
14:43Well, in powerlifting,
14:44you'd have been told to put that down.
14:45But in strongman, that's fine.
14:47You could jack it up,
14:48but he didn't have the energy in the end.
14:51So six reps for Shane Flowers.
14:57But just incredible, really, from Raynaud Nell.
14:59Surprised everybody.
15:00Eight reps.
15:03Well, we've seen he's very fast
15:04and now we've seen he's statically
15:06very, very strong too.
15:07This guy's the...
15:08looking like an all-round package.
15:11The South African.
15:12An all-round surprise package.
15:14His eight reps equaling the best score
15:16we've seen all week.
15:18They call him the Raynaud.
15:19And right now, he's with Michel.
15:23Raynaud, first time on the World's Strongest Man Circuit
15:26and you've just won an event.
15:28How does it feel?
15:29No, it's amazing.
15:30I had a bit more hope for a loading medley.
15:33So this is good redemption for me, for myself.
15:36And I know for you, you grew up watching strongman.
15:39To actually be here with some of the greatest strongmen of all time.
15:43What's that like for you?
15:44Yeah, it's awesome.
15:45I mean, I don't get bigger than this.
15:46I'm so humble and so glad to be taking in every moment.
15:50It's amazing.
15:51What's the plan for the next event?
15:53I take it one event at a time.
15:55So next is the pressing medley.
15:58I have a game plan.
15:59I'm not going to share it yet.
16:00Fair enough.
16:01But yeah, no.
16:02I'll just go out and give my best.
16:04And do you have an overall goal for this year's World's Strongest Man?
16:08Have you got your eyes on the final?
16:09Yeah, being my first World's Strongest Man,
16:11I think getting into a final will be a big achievement.
16:14So yeah, that's the first box that I need to tick.
16:17It feels like there's a lot of eyes on you coming into this competition.
16:21Does that add a bit of pressure?
16:22Do you feel like you've got a point to prove?
16:24Yeah, look, I come from a whole different organization.
16:27There's only one other guy here that I competed against.
16:29So I think I'm unknown.
16:31But for me, take it one event at a time.
16:33And then maybe show the guys I deserve to be here.
16:36Well, the best of luck, Reino.
16:37Thank you so much.
16:40Reino the Rhino currently on top of the standings.
16:43Two points clear of Shane Flowers in what continues to be a very surprising group.
16:47The highly rated Lucas Hatton and Mateusz Kieloskowski
16:50are currently a long way off the qualifying positions.
16:54Up next, it's the overhead medley.
16:56Can Lucas and Mateusz keep up with the pairs?
16:59Can Shane Flowers keep his spot in the top two?
17:01We'll find out when we return.
17:10Welcome back to the SPD World's Strongest Man.
17:12Next up for the strongmen of group three, it's the overhead medley.
17:17This test of overhead metal, literally, with four different implements
17:21for a combined seven reps and 75 seconds on the clock.
17:25First out, and in desperate need of points, is Poland's Mateusz Kieloskowski.
17:30Over to Colin and Danny.
17:31Well, Kieloskowski could redeem himself here.
17:40One of the most explosive overhead pressers in the world.
17:45Yes, he has to go on his own.
17:48He was at last in the deadlift, so he has to come out first in this event.
17:5290 kilograms overhead, this should be no problem whatsoever for him.
17:56He is one of the greatest dumbbell pressers there's ever been, that's for sure.
18:00Now then, let's see if he just viper, yes he does, just chucks it right from his hip up overhead.
18:08No pausing necessary, just straight up.
18:12Viper press, as they called it, very impressive.
18:15Now then, onto the clean and jerk of this circus barbell.
18:24Seems to be struggling slightly here.
18:27Lacking the power belly.
18:28Needs the power belly, doesn't he?
18:30That's it for Kieloskowski.
18:33Well, something's not right here, obviously.
18:35He's not feeling himself.
18:37Yeah, I'm very surprised.
18:38You saw how easy it was for him to chuck that log up.
18:40It's as if he just ran out of gas.
18:43Let's hear it from Matias Kieloski.
18:45Well, four in 26.25.
18:47I wonder what's going through his head.
18:54Representing the United States of America.
18:56So, Lucas Hitman Hatton.
18:59Hitman Hatton.
19:02One of the world's greatest pressers.
19:04Representing...
19:05And Shane Flowers.
19:06Shane Flowers.
19:08He's having a good day.
19:12It's feeling good
19:19Looking forward to seeing Hatton press the log
19:23One of the best log pressers right now out there, if not the best just about
19:29And very quick with that dumbbell, wow, that was lightning
19:33Have some of that, Kieliszkowski
19:39Anything Kieliszkowski can do
19:46Slower, steadier
19:49Now then, let's see how Hatton deals with this circus barbell
19:53There's the power belt
19:55Up it goes
19:57Look at that, £350, gleaned and jerked overhead with ease
20:03If he gets through this next one, Hatton, he'll go on to the axle
20:06The end game monster if you like
20:08Weighing 168kg
20:11It's more like, uh, 365 pounds
20:14Very heavy indeed
20:1975 seconds of which to do it, he's still got time
20:22Oh, no, Hatton's beaten
20:32Flowers
20:34Oh, oh, he didn't lock it out
20:36Well, he did lock it out, but it was in front of him
20:39Goodness me
20:40At the time of 52.74
20:42Well, five in 52.74 for Shane Flowers
20:46With six objects at the time of...
20:51But one ahead, Lucas Hatton
20:53Six in 47.41
20:58I really thought Hatton was going to do the final implement there
21:01Such a great presser, but all of the cleaning, getting it to the shoulders is what tired him
21:05Representing Ghana, it's Eben's Nana
21:10Eben's Nana next
21:14Getting the crowd onside, always a good idea
21:18And Ray O'Neill
21:20And Ray O'Neill
21:22Plenty more modest in his behaviour
21:24He's a very humble fella, but exceptionally talented
21:29So, uh, Ghana against South Africa right here
21:33That's fast from Nell
21:38I mean, this is quite a technical event for a man who's not been in the sport particularly long
21:43He's just so talented at everything, highly coordinated as well as ridiculously strong
21:49Goodness me
21:51And straight back to the second
21:55Well, what's happening here?
21:56I promise doesn't make sense, we're talking 150 kilos in the hand there, that's a serious weight
22:00Locks out
22:03Already moving on
22:06You see how long-armed he is as well, that's a long old press down him, he's pushing it
22:13A great deal above his head there
22:16He's not built to be oppressive, but he's good, oh what a jerk, now that's how to lift weights
22:20Ooh, it bounced into him, that's got up here
22:24For the uninitiated, what a jerk is actually a compliment
22:27Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
22:29Basically using your legs twice, driving and dipping
22:33In case he just tuned in and thought Colin Bryce had lashed his mind
22:36So, Nana
22:37Oh, it's unsteady, that's a shame
22:42Yeah, he never had full control, did he?
22:46Ooh, that's really bouncing around into them
22:49Uncomfortable finish for Nell, but
22:52Another consistent good performance
22:55Might not have won this overhead medley, but
22:58Good time indeed
22:59Well, it puts him in second after Hatton
23:02Five in 36.81
23:04And we found third place as well
23:06In Evans, Nana
23:08Five in 48.91
23:10Nana!
23:15That's hard lines there for Nana
23:17I mean, if you look at it in slow motion, it does look like he's locked out
23:20Because he is, but he was always drifting away
23:23He wasn't in control, it was the right call for Magnus
23:26I disagree
23:27The results for the overhead medley
23:32Hatton hits back to claim a much-needed event win
23:35Nell, Nana and Flowers all put up high
23:37But not Mateusz Kieliszkowski
23:39Who's return to Worlds is not going to plan
23:42He's with Michel
23:44Mateusz, everyone's been so excited to see you back here at Worlds
23:48But we know you've had a difficult time of it with the last three events, haven't you?
23:52Yeah, yeah, I was very excited to come here
23:53But I don't feel well because I feel something like high temperature, some fever
23:59Here it's very hot, but I use long sleeves
24:03I don't feel good right now
24:05It's bad luck for me
24:07But the events was fine
24:09I should be fine and easy
24:11But it's not my time
24:13Maybe next year will be better
24:14So tricky, especially if you're battling illness and injury too
24:19Yeah, I come back after a very, very heart injury
24:22Last year I turned my Achilles
24:24Not maybe 100% power
24:27Maybe 80% is now
24:29But still, I need to be very, very healthy to compete at the highest level here
24:34Well, you know what, Mateusz?
24:36There's so much love and respect for you here at World's Strongest Man
24:39And there are two events coming up that we know you're fantastic at
24:43Does that give you hope that you can come back and put on a show?
24:47You know, I will do my maximum what I can possible now
24:50Yesterday also overhead medley
24:51I should win easy with total 25 guys because I am the best in the medley overhead
24:57But I can breathe, I don't have power, I feel cold all the time
25:02I can't warm up
25:04If I do warm up, I still have pain in my joints, elbows and my knees
25:09So I will do my best
25:11Of course, stone is 100% my event
25:14And I will push my body to limit to maybe win only one event
25:18And just satisfied my mind a little bit
25:22Mateusz, we're all rooting for you and we really hope you feel better soon
25:26Thank you, thank you
25:29Three events into Heat 3 and we've had three different winners so far
25:32But it's the not-so-little Nell who's leading the way
25:35He's winning the deadlift plus second places in the other events
25:38Means that he is 3.5 points clear right now
25:40He's looking good, Eddie
25:42He's looking phenomenal, but deadlift result was insane
25:44Eight reps, beating Tom Stoltman and Mitchell Hooper, they only managed seven
25:49Honestly, that is within the best in the world at deadlift, absolutely insane
25:53Top two going through from this group
25:55Currently Shane Flowers in fourth spot, but he's only half a point behind second
25:59Yeah, Shane Flowers is doing really good
26:02Titans toss up next, so it's a good event for him
26:05He's got the world record at the Giants Live for the sandbag toss
26:07So it keeps him in contention to make it to the final this year
26:11Excellent, what has been spectacular to watch in the first two heats
26:14Let's see how the Titans toss goes this time with Colin and Danny
26:18Yes, the Titans toss
26:21Colin, you're a Titan, so why don't you talk us through this?
26:24Well, you have to toss ten sacks over a bar
26:27And then you get further and further away with each pair of sacks
26:30They all weigh 14 kilograms, around about 30 pounds, and this is how it's done
26:37True test of explosive power
26:40Mateusz Kieliszkowski had to come out first on his own
26:44Having finished last of the previous event
26:46Just seven out of the ten in 31.97 seconds
26:50I think you'll be a little disappointed with that
26:52Especially when there's so many good throwers and athletes in this heat
26:55So an achievable benchmark for Kieliszkowski
26:59Eliging seven
27:03It is a game of strength
27:05It's a game of physics
27:08You've got to get the angle right
27:10The angle of trajectory
27:11And it gets flatter and flatter the further away you get
27:14Evans Nanna, good thrower, very explosive, we know that
27:18But Shane Flowers, as Eddie touched on, is exceptional at throwing
27:22That's not throwing
27:24Taking it very seriously as well, very focused Flowers
27:39Well, so far, so easy for both men
27:43It's just gonna get tricky
27:45And that's high and long from Flowers as he moves on to the last one
27:54Oh, didn't get that one though
27:56Nor the final
27:59So eight for Flowers
28:01That's 12 metres away there for Nanna
28:06Not even close, I'm afraid
28:09Still six for him, eight for Flowers
28:11Yes, Flowers moving into first
28:14With six sandbags at a time of 23.66
28:17Give it up for...
28:18And if Flowers can't do all ten
28:19That shows you quite how hard it is
28:21With eight sandbags at a time of 23.3
28:27To eight in 23.38
28:30Shane Flowers
28:32Well, it's a fast tie for Flowers
28:34And he wanted to be quick, didn't he?
28:36You'd expect him to be the best in the group
28:40Unless Kineskowski was firing on all cylinders
28:42Which he wasn't
28:44Seven for him, eight for Shane
28:45I think he'll be fairly happy with that
28:47We still have a pair to go
28:49So he might get beaten
28:51That's pretty solid
28:53Representing the United States of America
28:55So Hatton
28:57The hitman
28:59Maybe not his strongest event
29:00We think
29:04Rayne O'Neill's wife
29:06They got married just two months ago
29:09This affected me their honeymoon
29:11I wonder how he broke that to her
29:16Now that I expect Rayne O'Neill to be exceptional at this
29:19He's just turned out to be brilliant at everything
29:21Hatton, he's not exactly built for this at six foot
29:24Short levers in terms of arms and legs
29:25But he's got some wild power too
29:28I saw him in the warm-up, he looked very impressive
29:30And Nell
29:32Very good indeed
29:34So far so good for Nell and Hatton
29:37Well Nell is taking no chances, is he?
29:41Absolutely launching it over here
29:43But he's gonna get unstuck soon
29:46As he's getting closer and closer to the upright
29:49Nell needs to recalibrate
29:50And that wasn't it
29:51No
29:53And Hatton managed to hit it as well
29:56But got it over
29:58No, he got it wrong with Hatton
30:00Goodness me, rolls it over the bar
30:03Two in a row he did that
30:05Impressive
30:07This might be a metre too far I think
30:09Not sure what that little dance was, but I enjoyed it
30:12And then
30:14There's a man who knows what he's beaten
30:17Goodness me, well great work
30:18And Hatton
30:20Big surprise there
30:22I'm not sure this needed a replay
30:25Yeah, he's having a little joke with the referees
30:28Who stopped him throwing them with one arm in the warm-up
30:31And said no, no, that's not loud
30:33Well that's 1844.06 for Lucas Hatton
30:37And eight also for
30:39Rayna Nell
30:4129.41
30:43Put him in second
30:45Time matters
30:46Nell was very quick
30:47He could have been quicker
30:49He definitely did a bit of ball watching as they went over each time
30:52He did what?
30:56So, third place for Lucas Hatton
30:58Which keeps him in the qualifying picture
31:00Rayna Nell impressing again in second
31:03But it's Shane Flowers who takes his second event win
31:06He's with Michelle
31:08Shane, another event win for you
31:10Second overall in the group
31:12What's going through your mind?
31:13I'll be honest
31:15I'm not happy with that
31:17I'm happy to take the five points and the event win in my group
31:19But I've done this event nine times now in a competition
31:22I've never lost, never missed a bag
31:24So to break that streak sucks
31:26But I'll take the five points
31:28Sat in second now going into the last event
31:30And I just want to get in that final
31:32So I'll take it and I'll use any kind of aggression or mood
31:35That I've got onto the last event and I'll make sure I send it
31:38Absolutely, we look forward to seeing you in it
31:40Thank you, thank you everybody
31:42Well, with just one event to go
31:44It's Rayna Nell who leads the way on his debut
31:47Three points clear of Shane
31:49With Lucas Hatton, Shane's closest challenger
31:51One and a half points further back
31:53Sad news meanwhile, Matthias Kieloskowski withdrawing from the competition due to illness
31:58Four men remain to battle in our final event for those two qualifying places
32:04We'll get rolling with the stones when we return on the SPD World's Strongest Man
32:18Welcome back to Sacramento
32:20It's the conclusion of Group 3 of the 2025 SPD World's Strongest Man
32:23Two places in the grand final are at stake with just one more event to go
32:28The Natural Stone Medley
32:33This, a time trial of ancient origins features four stones of varying shapes, sizes and weight
32:40To be pressed, shouldered, carried and loaded inside 90 seconds
32:44Lying in fourth overall but still with an outside chance of qualifying
32:48Evans Nanna, the Ghanaian gladiator, was the first man out
32:54Sadly, Evans could only press the opening 123 kilos stone
33:00And that means his chances of progress are all but done
33:05Hatton, Flowers and Nell are the three remaining hopefuls
33:09Two spots in the grand final are up for grabs
33:11Who will take them to the finale of Group 3?
33:14Let's hand you back to Colin and Danny
33:20Representing the United States of America, Lucas Hatton
33:22Well, big things expected of Lucas Hatton
33:28Extremely depressing
33:29Yes, well said
33:31And the first section of this stone medley
33:34It's really all about the press
33:36You've got this rectangle of stone up to your chest
33:39And then try and get your grip
33:41And that's the tricky bit
33:43If you can get that, he'll have no problems
33:45With throwing 125 kilos overhead
33:47Well, up it goes, locks it out, drops it
33:51It's a shoulder carry
33:57Yes, you've just got to lift this
34:00Over 150 kilos of stone up to your shoulder
34:04It's a sort of giant sausage shape
34:07And he's struggling to get his arms around this
34:09It's very wide, he's chosen an interesting way to attack it
34:12Lengthways
34:13Probably the best way to get it up to your thighs
34:23He's very sweaty here, it's very hot
34:25And he's maybe just struggling a little bit with his grip
34:28You can see he's got little tacky towels tucked into his socks
34:31This helps you stick to these stones a bit
34:34Really struggling to work this out
34:41There we go, tacky towels
34:44This is pine resin
34:46Add a little bit of tack to the stone
34:47As he tries to grip it
34:48Here we go
34:50Remember he's got 90 seconds
34:51So he's really starting to run out of time
34:5410 left, he's beaten, he can't work it out
34:57That's that for Lucas Hatton
35:00One in 16.72
35:02Ladies and gentlemen, I'm sure of your appreciation
35:04And then about a minute and 15
35:05And looking at the stone
35:07Yes, I mean, he just couldn't get it
35:10I think it's to do with the sheer width of it
35:11And let's not forget the weight of it
35:14You know, it's nearly 350 pounds of stone
35:17It's awkward, very wide
35:19Well, has opportunity
35:22Opened up for Shane Flowers
35:23Yes, and he also knows the parameters that opportunity comes in
35:29He's really got to do this
35:31Faster than Evans now
35:32Now this first stone
35:33And that was around about 13 seconds
35:36So let's see how he gets on with it
35:37Doesn't have much fumble time with it, that's for sure
35:40He gets this up quickly, he's in the final
35:43I think he's in
35:45He gets the down signal, does he?
35:46Yes, yes
35:48Okay, so Shane Flowers
35:50Will be in the final of World's Strongest Man
35:53And now, it's about doing as much as he can
35:56To get as many points as he can
35:58Yes, I mean, the equivalent of the first event of the final
36:01Is those who make it into the final
36:03Exactly what they did in the heat
36:06So, the leading man will start the final with 10 points
36:10And he can do well here
36:12This is an awfully tricky event
36:15Wow, did he get that?
36:16I'm not sure he did
36:18I'd rather like Tom Stoltman in the other heat
36:21He, uh...
36:23He felt a bit faint and went down
36:25That's a really hard event
36:26It really is, that stone shoulder
36:28He's all right, smiling
36:30And I don't think Magnus is going to let him have another go
36:32I think that's probably it
36:34Ladies and gentlemen, through to his first SPD
36:37Well, he did it!
36:38World's Strongest Man final
36:40Shane Flowers
36:42Another Brit in the final
36:44Shane Flowers
36:47He did enough and he did it well
36:48One star in the time of 11.38
36:51And he's through to the SPD
36:54World's Strongest Man final
36:55I'm sure it was emotional
36:56Whether he's still seeing stars
36:57Because right there he was almost out of the game
37:00And, uh, ditched the stone
37:01He knew he was going down
37:05Great moment, there's his dad Graham
37:07Who's been to all of his big contests
37:08Supporting him all along
37:10His journey in Strongman
37:11Big moment
37:13Well done Shane
37:17Representing South Africa
37:18Reino Nell then
37:22Last to go
37:24Reino Nell!
37:26He's a smart man
37:28He's been studying
37:30Ready?
37:31Yes sir
37:32the whistle the maths computation of who's going to make it into the final and he can't miss out
37:38now he's absolutely guaranteed to be in but this it's all about gathering points for that grand
37:45final now will be compared to the likes of tom stoltman and mitchell hooper who won their heats
37:51before him so we head into that and a good result here he chucks that up like a second
37:57at all that's what i meant when he's been studying he's been working this out and that was very easy
38:04for him you know on the husveld stone now made in a mold to be similar to the famous icelandic
38:14carrying stone around about 181 82 kilos 400 pounds and he finishes that with ease on to the big daddy
38:22at the end here the tombstone we've seen mitchell hooper do this goodness me see if he can match
38:35yes he can almost threw it over yeah that was almost 200 kilograms of 10 stone so impressive
38:45well his own family seems stunned there
38:46as if they can't believe it either this guy is very special 62 seconds for all four
38:54is there anything he can't do
38:58he just seems to have all of the abilities needed for a top strong man he's going to be a danger in
39:03the final
39:06so it's rain o'nell arguably the story of this year's competition so far who wins group three
39:12charging through those four stones in a little over a minute meanwhile an emotional shane flowers
39:19takes second spot and becomes the third brit to qualify for this year's grand final he's with michelle
39:24shane you did it oh god don't cry don't cry oh it's been my world's strongest man journey's been a
39:37roller coaster promotion um and they're harder by the fact that i'm really homesick at the moment

40:22my wife everybody everybody thank you this is for them it's not me it's all for them
40:29you can tell just how special this is the emotion is there are you going to be channeling that now
40:36when you go into these next events within the final yeah my body feels really good i've never felt
40:43this strong um the groups were harder than what i thought but this world's strongest man is
40:49undoubtedly the hardest year it's ever been it's the most competitive and to make my return to make
40:54the final on this year with that group i'm so happy and i'm revved up for the final you deserve it
41:00shane congratulations thank you thank you everybody i can't believe it so what a great day for a great
41:09britain shane flowers taking second place going to the final joined by that south african surprise
41:16the powerhouse reyn o'nell reyn o'nell congratulations you're through to the final and you're having fun
41:23yeah it's amazing i love the sport you're having an incredible year as well you got married what two
41:27months ago today uh yesterday was our two-month anniversary amazing what do you make of this guy eddie
41:33he only started competing when two years ago phenomenal yeah you've been in the sport two
41:36years now yeah strongman champions league yeah i still count my marriage in mom so let's do it with
41:41strongman so i think it's two two years and three months two years and three months and you're here
41:45at the world's strongest man top 10 in the world what aspirations have you got into strongman yes it's
41:50still new so i just take it next competition at a time i mean everyone wants to win the world's
41:54strongest man so that's ultimate goal but i mean the path today i'll just keep on improving
41:58final events in the in the final good for you yeah fairly good um one event i've never done
42:05but but yeah i'm positive what have you never done hercules hold hercules one of the best ones
42:11i've got to say rey not only are you through but you've done it in real style you kind of match the
42:15performances of two of the really big names who've already gone in uh mitchell hooper and tom stolman are
42:21you surprised at just how well you've been able to adapt to this level of strongman yeah we'll see i mean
42:26still five five events to go so i've never done as long of a competition but up to this point i'm
42:31i'm fairly happy with what i did yeah i'm not surprised congratulations we look forward to
42:35seeing you much in the final before that of course next time out we've got heat four and it's back to
42:39the future with britain's luke the future richardson he's back after four years away from world's
42:44strongest man can he get past though the likes of maxime boudreau and andre foitu and trey mitchell
42:51we'll be finding out next time on spd world's strongest man all that with james and the team
42:58tomorrow at seven here on five nicholas cage has a problem even bigger than his hair when his flight
43:04gets hijacked con air due to depart at nine after northamptonshire police interceptors getting quite
43:11a shock when a driver finally winds down the window in just a moment
