00:00:00You may have heard me say this once or twice, but we've got to take care of the ball tonight and execute.
00:00:07But I think what makes tonight a little different is just the quick turnaround, the back-to-back, the overtime game in Toronto.
00:00:15So we've got to get a lot of guys on the floor tonight and execute well with different lineup combinations.
00:00:23Seven back-to-back this season for the Golden State Warriors trying to bounce back.
00:00:29And it feels like we talk about turnovers once or twice a segment on this show.
00:00:33Warriors turned the ball over 21 times last night, 15 in the second half.
00:00:37Give it up 35 points.
00:00:38Oh, it's jumping over there in New York.
00:00:39I know it is popping out there.

00:01:03And you have a four-game winning streak.
00:01:05And the Warriors didn't do that yesterday, especially in the fourth quarter.
00:01:07Well, we're getting to the point now where the Warriors have 16 losses.
00:01:13They've led in the fourth quarter 11 of those 16 games.
00:01:18So, good news, you have the lead in the fourth quarter.
00:01:21Bad news, you're not closing games.
00:01:24And, Kalen, if you want to be a playoff team, that's got to be rectified.
00:01:28At some point, you've got 50 games to do it.
00:01:30That's it.
00:01:30And the problem is these teams watch film.
00:01:33And you get this reputation of being turnover-prone, especially if you have the personnel to turn up the pressure,
00:01:40like the Raptors did, like the Nets do, have that personnel.
00:01:43So, taking care of the ball is so important.
00:01:45But, Festus, I'm also thinking about the rebounding, right, because Scottie Barnes had a field day.
00:01:50This Brooklyn Nets team is big, man.
00:01:52Claxton, Sharp off the bench, Noah Clowney.
00:01:55Yeah, yeah.
00:01:55All these guys come in, even though they're not known for their offensive rebound.
00:01:59That's another thing.
00:02:00Teams see the Warriors and, like, okay, maybe we can get them there.
00:02:02Maybe they might be a little vulnerable.
00:02:03So, just crashing the boards on offense, obviously, but making sure everybody gets in there, Festus, and hits somebody.
00:02:11Just crack someone, and then if you have to face guard someone, the guards get in there.
00:02:14Everybody, all hands on deck, Festus.
00:02:17Yes, that's right, Buki.
00:02:18Scottie Barnes yesterday was 6'8", and he had 23 rebounds.
00:02:23So, tonight you got 6'8", 6'6", 6'10", 6'10", 6'11".
00:02:27That means all hands on deck.
00:02:29It means everybody has to crash the glass, and you cannot let them get going off of offensive rebounds
00:02:35because this is already the number one defensive team in the month of December in the Brooklyn Nets.
00:02:40You can't give them extra possessions offensively because you're just taking away possessions from yourself.
00:02:45Molly, what's the mindset on a microwave score like Cam Thomas?
00:02:50This guy had 30 points in only 20 minutes.
00:02:53If you're coming in, and he's coming off the bench,
00:02:56if you know a score like that can get so hot that defense becomes kind of irrelevant,
00:03:01what's your mindset right away when he checks in the game?
00:03:04Yeah, I think Fitz and Buki, the first thing you want to do is limit his touches.
00:03:07Anytime you can deny him and don't even let him touch the ball in that possession, that's a win.
00:03:12You've got to make everything tough for him.
00:03:13Don't let him drive middle.
00:03:15You live with contested twos, and you've got to keep them off the free throw line
00:03:19because they're all free points.
00:03:21And, of course, the live ball turnovers, which turn into layups.
00:03:24So, make everything tough for him.
00:03:26He's a big-time scorer.
00:03:28He's a one-on-one guy.
00:03:29So, you know when he gets the ball, you know what he's going to do?
00:03:31He's going to shoot it.
00:03:32But take away his weakness.
00:03:33May force him left.
00:03:35But keep him off the free throw line and take away his layups.
00:03:39And, Molly, Warriors would really love to start winning more of these games where Steph shows out.

00:04:14Well, we all know Steph Curry's a global superstar.
00:04:18But New York is a big-time basketball city.
00:04:21They have the utmost respect for superstars.
00:04:23And they love Steph Curry.
00:04:25He's always going to, you know, play his best.
00:04:27But it's really important to me his teammates start the game aggressive.
00:04:31Steph's going to find his points.
00:04:33He's going to find his open shots.
00:04:35But his teammates got to remain ultra-aggressive at all times.
00:04:3840 points in that building last season for Steph Curry as he had Grandma Kitty in attendance.
00:04:42I don't know if she's there tonight in Barclays Center.
00:04:45But Steph is in town.
00:04:46And he's looking to bounce back from yesterday's 12-30 shooting performance against Toronto.

00:06:07And then the ball handler has to know, okay, where are my outlets?
00:06:09Make sure you know.
00:06:10Because sometimes guys are getting open.
00:06:11You don't see them.
00:06:12You've got to stay away from getting frantic there.
00:06:14Think about playing Brooklyn right now.
00:06:16They won 7 of 10.
00:06:17Best defense in the league in the month of December.
00:06:20And then you have a guy like Michael Porter Jr., who's become a star.
00:06:24And so for the Warriors, slowing down MPJ becomes a big deal.
00:06:30This is a Nets guy that he comes over from Denver, and now he's taking over.
00:06:34All-star numbers.
00:06:36He has been amazing all season.
00:06:38He's been their most consistent player.
00:06:40We know about his shooting ability, his size.
00:06:42He can get that shot up over anybody super comfortably.
00:06:45But here, a little more of a leadership role, a little more playmaking,
00:06:50a little more creation for himself.
00:06:52And he has thrived.
00:06:53So, he's probably the guy you may see the Warriors throw some double teams at.
00:06:58And they've struggled with turnovers at times the Nets have, too.
00:07:00So, you can kind of turn the pressure up on them and see how they handle it.
